As night fell, Wen He happily returned home.
I spent an hour at Cheng Yudie's house tonight. Not only did I have a delicious meal, but Cheng Yudie also gave Wen He a small square necklace.
Wen He didn't want it at first, but Cheng Yudie was too stubborn and insisted that he accept it.
They even said it was a lucky charm that would bring good fortune if you wore it.
In reality, this is Cheng Yudie's miniature location tracker, which also has a recording function.
"Wen He! Come here!"
Wen He felt a chill run down her spine at her mother's angry voice, and immediately knew something was wrong.
He walked cautiously into the living room, where he saw his parents sitting there with serious expressions and icy gazes.
"Where have you been gallivanting off to?!"
"Uncle Zhang told me, 'You get off work at 8:30. Look at the time yourself, what time is it now!'"
"Don't tell me the bus got lost and took you on a detour to another province before coming back."
Upon hearing this, Wen He trembled violently and lowered his head guiltily.
My heart was pounding like thunder, pounding wildly.
Terrified, he dared not look his parents in the eye.
Wen He never expected that even after he had been working overtime for an hour and a half, Uncle Zhang would still call his mother to tell her about this.
"And you were late this morning, weren't you?"
"I went through all the trouble of begging and giving gifts to get you a job at the factory, and this is how you repay me?"
Wen's mother's words made Wen He lower his head even further, his body trembling uncontrollably from immense fear.
It's like a child who has made a mistake being sued by their parents.
At times like these, any explanation seems utterly futile.
"I only found out about this because I called you today to ask how you've been doing."
"Otherwise, how long do you plan to keep this a secret?"
“You also left work at eight o’clock yesterday, but you didn’t come back until eleven o’clock, pretending to be very tired from working late.”
"Acting? Who are you acting for? Are you acting for us?"
Every word she said struck Wen He's heart precisely.
She always thought of Wen He with the most malicious intent.
"But Mom, I still finished all the housework when I got back..."
Wen He wanted to try and get something.
Perhaps it's maternal love, perhaps it's care, perhaps it's understanding...
"What? Do I need to praise you?"
"Wow, that's amazing! After a long day at work, she still did all the housework."
"Our Wenhe is really amazing."
"So, are you satisfied now?"
Hearing these words, Wen He felt an unfathomable despair.
Wen He's eyes reddened slightly, and an indescribable sense of grievance swirled within her.
All efforts were denied, ignored, and taken for granted...
Even if he did everything perfectly, his parents still wouldn't let it go.
It seems they can't stand to see him have even the slightest bit of rest.
They wished they could make the most of every minute and second of his time.
"What's that thing on your neck?" Mr. Wen, who had been silent until now, asked in a deep voice.
"It was a gift from a classmate..." Wen He explained, her voice choked with emotion.
"It was a gift from a girl, right?"
"Um……"
"Tell me, and you'd better not lie to me. You know what the consequences will be if I find out you're lying."
The father's short sentence sent chills down Wen He's spine, and immense fear instantly enveloped her.
In front of her angry father, Wen He dared not lie at all and told him everything in detail.
The image of being hung up and beaten until covered in blood because of a cough is still vivid in my mind.
"So, you've been eating dinner at her house every night lately?" Mr. Wen questioned.
"Hmm..." Wen He nodded slightly.
"I don't object to you going to her house, but don't neglect your work, and keep doing all the chores around the house."
"When you get your salary, transfer all the money to my account. Transfer as much as you can, and don't make us go to Uncle Zhang to verify it."
"You're not qualified to be in a relationship yet, and don't hold others back. Just be friends and don't get any funny ideas."
Hearing her father's words, Wen He nodded silently.
He naturally understood what his father was thinking.
Wen He went to Cheng Yudie's house to eat and drink for free, and Wen's father naturally supported it.
But it's impossible to get money out of Wen He's pocket.
They have calculated their profits to the extreme.
He had been thinking that he would buy Cheng Yudie a small gift after he got his salary.
now,
Wen He's father's warning completely dispelled the idea.
…………
…………
Cheng Yudie heard everything they said clearly.
"Wen He..."
She hugged her pillow, listening to those cold and vicious words, tears streaming down her face.
Cheng Yudie could never have imagined that Wen He grew up in such a family environment.
What kind of parents speak so harshly to their own children, and then meticulously calculate all of their children's interests?
Cheng Yudie felt a chill run down her spine when she heard those words.
Especially Wen's mother's extremely sarcastic remarks, every word seemed to be digging into Wen He's heart.
Wen He had already taken the bus to work at the factory at around 7 a.m. and didn't get off work until 8:30 p.m. After playing at her house for an hour, she still had to do housework.
Even after he had gone to such lengths, Wen's parents were still not satisfied and continued to criticize and berate him.
Cheng Yudie strongly suspected that they were deliberately driving Wen He to his death.
