Chapter 30 I also want to lend you a hand

pain……

it hurts……

My head hurts, my throat hurts, my stomach hurts, and my bones hurt.

I feel like my whole body is about to fall apart.

Exhausted to the extreme, Wen He fell asleep almost as soon as she got on the bus.

Wen He gradually woke up only after the driver reminded her that they had reached the final stop.

"Cough cough... Thank you..."

After thanking him, Wen He got out of the car shakily, like an octogenarian.

As the bus driver watched Wen He's retreating figure, he sensed a weariness that seemed out of place for someone his age.

On the way home, every step felt incredibly heavy.

I don't know if it's because I was too tired and my mind was too tense today.

He felt pain all over his body.

Especially when coughing, every cough feels like a knife scraping through all the bones in my body.

Let's get some rest early tonight...

Although Wen He didn't know what she was living for, or how much longer she could hold on.

At least.

I need to find a way to repay Cheng Yudie and sing a few more songs.

After that, find a quiet and peaceful place to die.

Lost in thought, Wen He walked back home.

Although he was terribly hungry, the pain in his body made him lose his appetite.

All he wants now is a good night's sleep; only when he's asleep will the pain temporarily subside.

Wen He casually ate a couple of bites of the leftovers and very consciously went to the kitchen sink.

Like a robot with a pre-programmed sequence, he began tidying up everything in the house.

After finishing all that, it was 11:30 PM, and everyone in the family was already asleep.

"Cough cough..."

Wen He lowered her voice and coughed as quietly as possible.

With the hope that "tomorrow will be better," Wen He struggled to fall asleep.

For the next period of time, Wen He was like a numb puppet, repeating the same routine day after day.

Unfortunately, the pain in his body did not seem to be related to his sleep or diet.

"Should we go to the hospital to see a doctor? Or should we send Cheng Yudie a gift...?"

Wen He looked at her only 323.5 yuan in cash and didn't know what to do with it.

This is the money he had left over after his last hospital check-up; it's his most precious little savings.

The pain in his body has made his sleep quality very poor lately.

He coughed very badly before going to bed that night.

When he coughs, his whole body aches, sometimes like he's having a spasm, and sometimes he feels like someone is drilling into his bone marrow with an electric drill.

I used to be able to fall asleep in half an hour, but now it takes me an hour to fall asleep, and I often wake up in the middle of the night in pain.

If things continue like this, he feels that his mental state will completely collapse sooner or later.

But Wen He felt that she didn't need to go to the hospital.

He didn't have many days left to live anyway, so he might as well save the money to give Cheng Yudie a gift.

"Give me a gift, sing one more song, and that should be enough..."

"Let's sing a cheerful and lively song. I quite like a lively atmosphere."

"We still need to choose a good day."

Wen He seemed to have figured it out and suddenly felt relieved.

He opened his phone's calendar, looked at it carefully, and then checked the upcoming weather forecast.

Wen He didn't seem to think it was a terrible thing.

He thought about it.

The decision was made to bury him in Beihuaishan.

It is a remote place with a large number of animals.

It won't cause any trouble for anyone, and there are many animals around.

It's a nice place.

After thinking everything through, Wen He smiled.

"Ding~ We have arrived at the final stop. Please take your belongings with you. Welcome to ride with us again."

As the bus doors slowly opened, Wen He was about to get off when she heard the driver's voice: "Brother, are you free later?"

"Hmm? You seem to have some free time. What's up?" he asked, turning around.

"I'm off work too. How about we grab some barbecue later? It's on me," the driver invited.

After thinking for a moment, Wen He nodded in agreement.

"Wait for me a bit, I'll park the car and we'll go together. I know a really good barbecue restaurant nearby, I sometimes have a few skewers after get off work to really enjoy it."

The driver was a middle-aged man in his forties, and he was a cheerful and easy-going person.

Wen He wasn't very good at responding to strangers, and seemed rather aloof.

Led by the driver, they soon arrived at a roadside barbecue stall, where quite a few people were sitting.

He picked up the shopping basket with practiced ease and quickly filled it to the brim.

"Boss, all the skewers here are half extra spicy and half not spicy," the driver reminded him.

After ordering, they chatted idly for a while...

"Brother, you're so young, why would you want to work in a factory? If you have time, learning a trade would be much better," the driver suggested very kindly.

"Cough cough... Because of my cough, it's not easy for me to find a job, and I don't have much education, so this is all I can do."

"If you're going to work in a factory, you should find a better one, like Foxconn. At least it's a large, reputable factory. I've heard the owner of your small factory is a shady character. I've noticed you've been working late into the night a lot lately."

“My mom arranged for me to get this job at the factory.” Wen He smiled bitterly.

"Oh, is that so? You work overtime so late every day, doesn't your mom feel sorry for you?"

"She doesn't care, as long as she can make money."

"Sigh...every family has its own troubles." As he spoke, the owner had already brought out two large plates of grilled skewers.
