"Wen He, what do you want to do after you have money? Like, where to go for fun, or what to eat that you've never tried before?" Cheng Yudie asked curiously.
"I want to go to an amusement park, a water park, and for food..." Wen He thought carefully.
"Cough! Cough cough cough... Fried chicken, cake, hamburgers and stuff," he said.
Upon hearing this, Cheng Yudie paused for a moment, then suddenly burst out laughing: "Why are you acting like a little kid?"
"Uh... is it a little weird for an adult like me to think about these things?"
Wen He genuinely felt that these were things children would want.
But this was exactly what Wen He had been longing for.
Because he had always longed for these things since he was a child, but he had never received them. Even if he did, they were always things that his younger brother Wen Ze didn't want, or leftovers.
In short, he never once possessed anything that truly belonged to him on his own.
Amusement parks are forever just places you can watch from the outside as people have so much fun, and water parks are just places you can only see on TV or your phone.
Fried chicken, cakes, and hamburgers are things that should be commonplace for someone his age.
But in Wen He's eyes, it was a rare and precious treasure.
Although barbecue and hot pot are also included.
But he had already eaten it.
The hot pot was eaten on Cheng Yudie's birthday.
The barbecue was treated to him by that bus driver.
"It's not that it's strange, it's just that it's a bit too easy..."
Cheng Yudie suddenly felt a pang of heartache.
Throughout his life, he has never had any of these things that every child should have had to some extent.
This reminded Cheng Yudie of a story she had read before.
The story is about a man from the mountains who, after acquiring a huge fortune, the first thing he did was buy several cases of iced tea and drink it every day. The reason was that he had tasted it once before and it was the best thing he had ever tasted, so his dream was to drink iced tea every day.
When she first saw the story, she thought it was utterly absurd and stupid.
He possessed wealth beyond measure, yet he used it to buy iced tea—that was incredibly foolish.
She only understood later when she grew up...
Why do people need to read books? Why do they need to broaden their horizons?
Otherwise, even if immense wealth were bestowed upon them, they wouldn't be able to make good use of it.
But if you ask, are the people in those mountains happy?
He must be happy, because his dream has come true; he has obtained an iced tea that he could never finish drinking in his lifetime.
Wen He is just like the people in this mountain.
He had no idea how much money he would have, or what that money could give him to experience.
Therefore, what he desperately wanted to obtain seemed so insignificant to ordinary people that it evoked both pity and heartache...
This is Cheng Yudie's current mood.
She had assumed that Wen He would be like a normal person, spending her remaining time traveling the world and tasting cuisines from all over the globe.
People tend to view the world from their own perspective and through their own values.
And it is taken for granted that...
A certain person, a certain thing, should be done this way.
It's like Wen Heming could have used his own ID card to create a Douyin account.
With his abilities, he could easily take off, seize the wealth, and then leave his family to live a life free of constraints.
But they never imagined that someone who had been calculated, abused, exploited, manipulated, and controlled from the very beginning...
Such an idea would never even come to mind.
Their subconscious has already become fixed as...
"If I do this and get caught, I'm dead."
Even if they escape to a very far place, they will still live in fear every day because of the psychological shadow of fear, afraid that they will run into their parents on the street one day.
As for using legal means to protect oneself, that's utter nonsense.
In this situation, without external intervention or being pushed to the limit, one would die in silence.
The complexity of human beings has yet to be fully understood by any single individual.
There's even an extremely bizarre psychological state called Stockholm Syndrome.
Fortunately, Wen He hasn't reached that point yet.
"Is it simple? Then what should I be thinking about?" Wen He asked, puzzled.
“I think it’s good to start with something simple. Have you ever been to the movies?” Cheng Yudie asked in return.
"No." He shook his head.
Have you ever had milk tea?
Wen He shook her head again.
"Okay, then let's do it one by one, and do all the things you haven't done before but want to do."
As she spoke, Cheng Yudie had already written down all the previous events in a notebook.
1. Eat cake.
2. Go to the amusement park.
3. Eat a hamburger.
4.…………
Over the next period of time, Cheng Yudie asked Wen He many questions, and Wen He shook her head and denied almost every single one.
Soon, Cheng Yudie had written down everything she could think of, filling three whole pages.
The rest of the time was spent taking Wenhe to experience all the things she hadn't experienced before.
"Alright, we have a lot to do now," Cheng Yudie said.
In the final moments of Wen He's life, spending time with him and sharing his joy is the only thing Cheng Yudie wants to do now.
"This is too much..." Wen He sighed.
