Chapter 73 Chief Xie and Miss Shen have arrived.

In a short while, Cheng Wan's face turned as pale as paper.

The blood dripping down her calves had formed a pool on the ground, a heartbreaking sight.

Just as everyone was in a panic, the Xie family, who had heard the commotion, rushed over.

"What happened to Wanwan? Why is she bleeding so much all of a sudden?"

Upon hearing Zhao Haiyin's voice, Cheng Xiangling suddenly thought of something.

She looked up with bright eyes and spotted Shen Zhihuan in the crowd at a glance.

Her nose stung, and the tears she had been holding back instantly welled up and spilled over. She cried out:

"Sister Zhihuan, my sister is very ill. Can you help save her?"

The scene before them was in complete chaos, but Shen Zhihuan and Xie Lanshen remained as calm and composed as ever.

Such an atmosphere was highly infectious, and the surrounding crowd finally began to calm down.

"Commander Xie and Miss Shen are here, Wanwan will definitely be alright."

Shen Zhihuan took the acupuncture kit out of her pocket and gave Cheng Xiangling a reassuring look to calm her down.

There were so many people gathered in the alley that she could hardly move.

Xie Lanshen placed a hand lightly on her lower back to protect her, while quietly dispersing the crowd.

"Everyone, disperse. If you all stay here, the air won't circulate, and it will actually affect Miss Cheng's condition."

"It's getting late, everyone should go back and rest first. We'll let you know if there's any further news."

Xie Lanshen was very authoritative in the courtyard. As soon as he spoke, people would make way for them and let them in.

Shen Zhihuan quickened her pace and walked up to Cheng Wan. Seeing how much blood she was bleeding, her heart skipped a beat.

But she showed no sign of it on her face. While instructing Xie Lanshen to help find a stretcher, she squatted down, grasped Cheng Wan's wrist, and carefully checked her pulse.

Grandpa Xie had already called 120 for an ambulance as she had instructed. Zhao Haiyin also came over and asked anxiously:

"How is Wanwan? Is everything alright?"

Shen Zhihuan shook her head, but before she could speak, a sharp and piercing female voice drowned out her words.

"What's all the noise about in the middle of the night? If it disturbs the neighbors' rest, my family will be in big trouble."

Cao Tongwen usually likes to act like a good person in front of others, but when she saw her daughter-in-law's miserable state, she showed no sympathy whatsoever.

She felt that Cheng Wan had attracted so many people to her house to watch the spectacle, which made her lose face.

"Alright, alright, what's so interesting about this? If you ask me, Cheng Wan is just too delicate. She fainted from the pain as soon as the contraction started."

As Cao Tongwen spoke with a grin, she stepped forward and tried to grab Cheng Wan's arm, forcing her to stand up.

"Every woman goes through this process, why are you all making such a fuss? Everything will be fine once Cheng Wan gives birth."

"It's just a little blood, nothing serious."

She rubbed her toes against the bloodstains on the ground, her face clearly smiling, but her eyes showed extreme disgust and impatience, and she kept muttering under her breath.

"This is so annoying, so much blood, it'll be a huge hassle to clean up tomorrow."

I've seen people who are naturally cold-blooded, but I've never seen anyone as heartless as her.

Cheng Wan's face was so pale that it was clear something was wrong.

Cao Tongwen not only didn't feel sorry for them, but she also acted like nothing was wrong and made all sorts of sarcastic remarks. She's such a beast!

Old Mrs. Xie was the first to stand it, and stepped forward with a stern face to rebuke:

"Wanwan is your own daughter-in-law! As the saying goes, a mother-in-law is worth half a mother. She was tortured like this to give birth to your son's child, and blood was everywhere."

"You don't know how to feel sorry for others, yet you have the nerve to stand up and make sarcastic remarks. Don't you have a conscience? Aren't you afraid of retribution?!"

Cao Tongwen was unconvinced and muttered under her breath, pouting:

"Whoever is willing to be her biological mother can be her. I don't care. I have my eldest son, that's enough."

These words incurred the wrath of everyone in the courtyard.

Sister Li and several other kind-hearted women were furious when they heard this, and immediately rolled up their sleeves to argue with her.

"Don't think everyone doesn't know that back then, in order to marry Wanwan, you, as her own mother, were practically dying to make room for her."

"You finally managed to marry her, and Wanwan treats you like her own mother, but you keep tormenting her. Even when Wanwan was pregnant, you made her do your laundry and cook for you with her big belly."

"Aren't you afraid of divine retribution? We'd be ashamed to live in the same compound as you! You're utter scum!"

Everyone was criticizing each other, and soon someone got to the point.

"Cao Tongwen has never treated Wanwan well, and now she wants to kill Wanwan and her unborn child. I seriously suspect that you did this on purpose!"

Cao Tongwen felt guilty upon hearing this, but Wen Jun kept speaking up for him.

“My mom has a great personality; she’s definitely not the kind of person you’re describing.”

"Your wife and children are almost driven to their deaths by your mother, and you still speak up for her. What a filial son you are."

The older women were furious and started speaking in a sarcastic tone.

Sister Li then pulled her unmarried younger sister, Li Meng, over and, in a roundabout way, said to her:

"Open your eyes wide and take a good look at what happened today. This is a bloody lesson right in front of us."

"If men are reliable, pigs will fly; and mothers-in-law are even less reliable. If you're stuck with those beasts, they won't treat you like a human being at all. Only your maternal family is your most loyal support and will always protect you."

Li Meng glanced at Cao Tongwen with disdain and nodded in agreement:

"Some families are so lucky to be able to get a wife that their ancestors are blessed with good fortune, yet they still don't know how to cherish her."

"Don't worry, sister. I'd rather hang myself than marry into a family like that."

Cao Tongwen and Wen Jun were embarrassed and wanted to refute, but if they said anything, everyone would point fingers and curse them ten times.

I was furious, but I didn't dare say anything.

At this moment, Shen Zhihuan had quickly finished taking Cheng Wan's pulse, her brows furrowing tightly, her expression extremely solemn.

The patient's condition was extremely poor; his pulse was so weak that it was barely perceptible.

If it weren't for her experience, which at least allowed her to keep things under control, a younger doctor would probably have already lost their composure.

"Sister Zhihuan, how is my sister doing?"

Cheng Xiangling was so frightened that she sobbed uncontrollably. Shen Zhihuan comforted her while holding Cheng Wan's hand and inserting a silver needle into her Duanhong acupoint.

Acupuncture was used to temporarily stop the bleeding and keep the patient alive.

After finishing these tasks, Shen Zhihuan's tense mood finally relaxed slightly. She then glanced at Cao Tongwen and Wen Jun, who were standing by watching, and asked coldly:

"Xiangling, what did your sister eat tonight?"
