Wu Youyou was starving. She picked up her chopsticks, took a bite of food, and eagerly put it in her mouth, wanting to try it.
As expected, Wu Youyou gave a thumbs-up and praised, "Shi Zhan, your cooking is so delicious!"
Shi Zhan raised his eyebrows slightly, feeling quite gratified that his specialty dish had received Wu Youyou's approval. This feeling was truly wonderful. He had always been the only one to enjoy his cooking; no one had ever tasted his food before. Now, Wu Youyou liked his cooking, and he was incredibly happy.
"Youyou, eat more if you like it!" Shi Zhan said gently.
Wu Youyou ate almost all of the food Shi Zhan had prepared, and even let out a satisfied burp as she looked at Shi Zhan, saying, "I'm full, it was so delicious!"
Shi Zhan was pleased to see that Wu Youyou had finished eating. Then, his expression gradually became serious and melancholy.
Wu Youyou naturally sensed that Shi Zhan seemed to have something to say, and she vaguely felt that Shi Zhan must have something on his mind.
Suddenly, something occurred to her. Wu Youyou's expression turned utterly calm, and she chuckled softly, "Do you want to break up?"
Shi Zhan looked up, a hint of surprise in his eyes. He truly hadn't expected Youyou to directly reveal something he found difficult to talk about.
"I'm sorry!" Shi Zhan's voice was low and hoarse.
Upon hearing those three words, Wu Youyou's lingering hope was shattered. Tears welled in her eyes, threatening to spill over at any moment.
Seeing Wu Youyou's state, Shi Zhan felt a pang of guilt and helplessness. He knew he had hurt her, but he was powerless to stop himself.
Wu Youyou took a deep breath and tried to keep her voice calm. "It's okay. Since you've already made up your mind, let's break up."
Upon hearing these words, Shi Zhan felt a sharp pain in his heart. He knew that he had failed to keep his promise.
Wu Youyou was heartbroken, but she also understood that Shi Zhan's current situation wasn't strong enough; he needed to become the richest man in Asia he was in his previous life! Wu Youyou calculated the time; it only took five years. In those five years, she also needed to grow as quickly as possible. After figuring everything out, Wu Youyou smiled at Shi Zhan, her tone firm: "You don't need to apologize to me. Everything is just not mature enough yet. I agree to break up!"
Shi Zhan felt as if his heart had been stabbed with a knife, the pain excruciating. He said nothing, only silently looking at Wu Youyou, a trace of sadness flashing in his eyes: "Why?"
Wu Youyou was a little confused by the question. She retorted, "You were the one who proposed breaking up. I just agreed. Aren't you happy about that?"
Shi Zhan was unwilling to give up and still wanted to find even the slightest bit of sadness in Wu Youyou's expression. He pressed on relentlessly, "When I proposed breaking up, didn't you even ask why?"
Although Wu Youyou was very unhappy, she still maintained a smile: "Grandpa Shi must have already talked to you. Since you were able to make this choice, you must have your reasons. I don't have any power right now, and I can't help you at all. Wei Ziyao is different, after all, she has the entire Wei family behind her. Putting aside feelings, you actually need a girlfriend like her more, don't you?"
Shi Zhan frowned deeply, a hint of admiration flashing in his eyes, but he quickly regained his composure: "Youyou, you're so clever!"
Wu Youyou took a deep breath and continued, "I just messaged my brother, and he'll be coming to pick me up soon. Thank you for your hospitality these past few days. As a friend, you've been very kind!"
"You can continue to live here!"
"Since we've already broken up, it's not appropriate for us to stay here. There's no need for us to!"
The atmosphere had become somewhat somber without anyone noticing. Wu Youyou quickly packed her luggage and left!
Shi Zhan stared blankly at Wu Youyou's departing figure, a strange pang of sorrow washing over him, making his throat tighten. He remembered Old Master Shi's words and had no choice but to do this!
Wu Youyou followed Wu Maoyan to his residence. All night, Wu Youyou tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep. Some people say that letting go is just a matter of a moment, but when you really have to let go, you realize how difficult it is!
The night was so quiet you could hear Wu Youyou's heartbeat. She lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep. Moonlight streamed through the window, illuminating her face and making her even more awake. She got up and sat by the window, gazing at the starry sky outside, her mind filled with countless thoughts.
She recalled the wonderful times they had shared, but now they had broken up. She didn't know if she could forget him, or if she could start over. All she knew was that her heart ached terribly.
Wu Youyou hugged her knees, weeping silently. She didn't know how long she had been crying, only that her eyes were red and swollen. She was tired, truly exhausted. She didn't want to think about him anymore, didn't want to think about the past. She just wanted to get a good night's sleep, hoping that when she woke up, everything would be alright.
Wu Youyou cried herself to sleep, then lay back down on her bed, closed her eyes, and tried to fall asleep. However, her mind was unusually active, filled with all sorts of thoughts. She didn't know what to do next.
Just then, she heard a knock on the door. She got up and opened it, and saw her older brother.
Looking at her red and swollen eyes, Wu Maoyan felt a pang of heartache. He went in, sat down by her bedside, and gently patted her shoulder.
"Youyou, what's wrong? Why are you crying?" Wu Maoyan asked.
Wu Youyou didn't speak, she just cried silently.
