He Qiangwei stood at the end of the testing center corridor, like a rose that had lost its moisture, helpless and desolate.
She clutched the test report tightly in her hand; the black and white words on the paper felt like a sharp knife, piercing deep into her heart.
The report cruelly told her that she was not Wu Zhenyuan's daughter. The "Dad" she had called out countless times, the person she had always thought was her blood relative, was not her biological father.
Why did her mother hide all of this from her? Why did her world collapse in an instant?
People came and went in the corridor, but no one noticed the girl in this corner.
Her tears fell silently, her eyes empty and lost. Passersby could only speculate that perhaps someone in the girl's family was seriously ill, or perhaps she herself had an incurable disease.
However, they could not imagine the kind of emotional pain this girl was enduring.
He Qiangwei couldn't accept this reality; it was as if her soul had been ripped away, and she returned to her apartment.
She shut herself off, afraid to face anything from the outside world. She drank large amounts of alcohol, trying to numb her soul.
Her phone kept ringing, but she couldn't hear it anymore; her world had collapsed.
Meanwhile, Wu Zhenyuan paced anxiously in the living room. He couldn't understand why He Qiangwei had returned to Haishi but not home, and why her phone remained unanswered.
Seeing Wu Zhenyuan's anxious expression, Song Lan was also filled with worry. She was concerned that He Qiangwei might get into trouble because of what happened in Kyoto.
Wu Zhenyuan suddenly remembered the apartment he had given to He Qiangwei. He immediately put on his coat and decided to go there to find her.
Song Lan urgently urged him to tell He Qiangwei he was safe once he found her. Wu Zhenyuan nodded and left home.
Shortly after Wu Zhenyuan left, Song Lan received a package. She opened it and found a paternity test report inside.
Her heart raced instantly; she couldn't believe her eyes. She carefully read the report, and the result made her gasp in horror, covering her mouth.
He Qiangwei is not related to Wu Zhenyuan by blood?
This news was like a bomb, exploding instantly in Song Lan's heart.
She knew how significant this matter would be. After all, He Qiangwei's identity had already been reported by the media, and she had even been arranged to marry into the Wei family, one of the four great families of Kyoto.
Although the Wu family has proposed to dissolve the engagement, Wei Dingyun, the head of the Wei family, has not yet given a clear answer.
Song Lan knew that this matter was of great importance and needed to be dealt with immediately.
She immediately dialed Wu Zhenyuan's number, wanting to tell him the news, but only heard the cold tone of a switched-off message.
"It's turned off?"
Song Lan was filled with doubts. She guessed that Wu Zhenyuan's phone might have run out of battery because he had been calling He Qiangwei from home.
However, she couldn't wait, so she called Wu Youyou.
Wu Youyou was in a hospital room, looking at Han Shuzhen lying on the bed. She had just received a call from her mother and knew that her mother already knew everything.
She walked to the corner of the stairs, took a deep breath, and answered the phone.
"Hello, Mom, what's wrong?" Her voice was calm and firm.
Song Lan's voice was filled with anxiety, "Youyou, something terrible has happened! He Qiangwei isn't your father's daughter after all!"
A barely perceptible sneer flashed across Wu Youyou's face. She had orchestrated this whole thing, and only she knew this secret, waiting for the right moment to use it.
"I already knew," she said calmly.
Song Lan was so surprised she could barely speak. "You already knew? Then why didn't you tell us?"
Wu Youyou smiled gently and replied,
"Mom, it's a long story, but in short, He Qiangwei is no longer Dad's daughter. Does Dad know that now?"
Song Lan's voice trembled slightly, "I wanted to tell your father, but I couldn't get through to him on the phone. He went to see Qiangwei, and she hasn't come home since Qiangwei came back."
Wu Youyou frowned slightly. She knew what was going to happen next; this grand drama had only just begun.
She said to Song Lan,
"Mom, don't worry about this for now. When Dad comes back, just show him the evidence. You don't need to say anything more."
Song Lan felt uneasy; she sensed that the matter was far more complicated than she had imagined. She said worriedly,
"Youyou, I feel like you're hiding a lot of things from me."
Wu Youyou took a deep breath and said to Song Lan,
"Mom, I'm going back to Haishi tomorrow, and I'll tell you everything then. But don't ask me anything before then."
Looking out at the dark night, Song Lan felt uneasy and confused.
She knew that this night was destined to be anything but peaceful, and a major upheaval was about to unfold.
Song Lan nodded, a hint of determination flashing in her eyes.
Wu Youyou gently hung up the phone and immediately dialed Lao Huo's number.
On the other end of the phone, Old Huo's voice was clear and steady.
"Youyou, what's wrong?"
"Old Huo, my father has gone to He Qiangwei's residence. Go and inform Du Lixian."
Wu Youyou conveyed the message concisely and clearly.
Without any hesitation, Old Huo said, "Okay, I'll inform him now."
After hanging up the phone, Wu Youyou leaned against the wall, a feeling of indescribable relief welling up inside her.
He Qiangwei's arrogance had put her under immense pressure lately, and now she finally had the chance to teach her a lesson. Wu Youyou's lips curled slightly, revealing a cunning and shrewdness beyond her years.
