"What are you all standing there for?" He Qiangwei moved to the side. "Come in quickly!"
"Oh, okay!" Wu Zhenyuan quickly stepped inside.
After Wu Zhenyuan sat down, he looked at her with a puzzled expression before slowly speaking.
"I never imagined that you were He Qingjie's daughter."
He Qiangwei looked at Wu Zhenyuan with complicated emotions, and gave a bitter smile.
"Do you know what kind of life my mother and I have been living for the past ten years or so?"
Wu Zhenyuan was taken aback. For years, he had been searching for He Qingjie, but without finding a single clue. Now, the person before him was He Qingjie's daughter. For some reason, a sense of unease crept into his heart. He asked in a low voice,
"Your name is He Qiangwei, right?"
He Qiangwei's expression was calm, revealing no emotion whatsoever.
"Hmm~"
How is your mother doing lately?
Wu Zhenyuan looked at He Qiangwei nervously, his voice somewhat timid.
Upon mentioning her mother, He Qiangwei's previously composed face broke into tears, and her voice choked with emotion.
"Mom...Mom is gone!"
Wu Zhenyuan was struck dumb and is gone? What does that mean? Is he dead?
His eyes instantly turned red, and he looked somewhat dejected; he couldn't accept this reality.
"How could that be? I've been looking for her for over ten years. How could she just leave without waiting for me!"
"He Qingjie~ You really are heartless!"
Wu Zhenyuan closed his eyes in heartache, two streams of hot tears rolling down his cheeks. His lips trembled, his hand clutched his chest, and his voice was somewhat hurried.
He Qiangwei's gaze toward Wu Zhenyuan was filled with complex emotions, it was hard to tell whether it was hatred or resentment.
She took a yellowed notebook out of her backpack and handed it to Wu Zhenyuan.
"This is Mom's diary!"
Wu Zhenyuan opened his eyes and looked at the notebook in He Qiangwei's hand. A golden light flashed in his eyes because he remembered this notebook. It was a birthday gift that he had personally bought for He Qingjie.
Through his teary eyes, he looked at the yellowed notebook, reached out with trembling hands, and took it.
He looked up at He Qiangwei again, only to see her getting up to leave. He quickly asked...
"where are you going?"
He Qiangwei's expression had lost its earlier sadness; her voice was calm and low.
"This notebook records my mother's life, and most of it is about you. I only learned the truth after she passed away. Take your time reading it. I've already seen you, and it's time for me to go back to school."
Wu Zhenyuan asked, "Which school do you attend?"
"Nanhua High School!"
After He Qiangwei finished speaking, she closed the door and left the restaurant.
As Wu Zhenyuan watched He Qiangwei's departing figure, he seemed to guess something in his mind.
He quickly snapped out of his daze and opened the yellowed notebook.
