Chapter 15: Get a Certificate (1/2)

Chapter 15: Get a Certificate

Early Monday morning, Gao Xiaoping asked someone to tell Yun Qiao that she had completed the task and asked her to come to the department store as soon as possible. So Yun Qiao took the money and hurried to the department store.

Because it was early in the morning and the department store had just opened, there were not many people buying things, and the sales clerks gathered in groups of three or four to talk.

Yun Qiao arrived at the fabric counter on the second floor and easily found Gao Xiaoping who was chatting with someone.

"Yun Qiao, you're here!" Gao Xiaoping said as she separated from the other salesperson.

Yun Qiao also greeted Gao Xiaoping with a smile: "Sister Xiaoping."

Gao Xiaoping said as she walked towards her counter, "You're here pretty fast."

Yun Qiao smiled and said a little embarrassedly, "I was afraid of delaying your work, so I came here as soon as I received the letter."

Gao Xiaoping felt even happier.

She likes people who are punctual like Yun Qiao, and she looks down on those who procrastinate when asking others to do things for them.

Gao Xiaoping took out three rolls of fabric from under the counter and said to Yun Qiao, "You asked for a lot of material, and I don't know what style to choose for you, so I'll just let the staff choose first. Although these three rolls are leftovers, the material is not bad. If you don't mind, you can take them all."

"Don't mind, don't mind. This material is already very good."

Yun Qiao didn't say any polite words, but really felt that the three rolls of material were very good. Not only were the colors bright, but they were also very thick. They were not the kind of cloth that was as thin as a piece of paper. They would definitely be durable and long-lasting when used to make clothes.

There are some yellow spots of mold around the edges, but they're not very noticeable. If you don't look closely, you won't notice them at all. They'll probably wash out if you wash them home. Even if they don't, the mold spots are confined to the edges of the fabric, so when the garment is made, if the tailor is more careful, they can be trimmed out.

Yun Qiao couldn't help but reach out and touch it, saying, "Sister Xiao Ping, this much material must cost a lot of money. The twenty I gave you is definitely not enough. Just tell me how much more you need."

Gao Xiaoping said, "This roll of blue cloth is the largest, with thirty pieces at thirty-five cents per piece, for a total of twelve yuan. Floral cloth is more expensive at fifty cents per piece, so fifteen and a half pieces will be given to you as fifteen pieces, for a total of seven dollars and a half. White cloth is the cheapest at thirty-three cents per piece, so eight pieces will make a total of two dollars and a half."

"It's twenty-two dollars and a half all together. Just give me two dollars and a half."

"Is two and a half dollars enough for this much material?" Yun Qiao said, counting out three dollars from the money in his hand and handing them to Gao Xiaoping: "Sister Xiaoping, don't let yourself suffer any more losses."

"I can't afford to lose. The money is all paid into the public account, so I get what I deserve." Gao Xiaoping took the three yuan from Yun Qiao and gave her fifty cents in change: "This is your change, keep it."

"It's just fifty cents, Sister Xiaoping. Don't give me the change. I'll treat you to some pastries."

"I treat you as a good friend, why should I take advantage of you?" Gao Xiaoping grabbed Yun Qiao's hand and stuffed the money back into her hand.

Yun Qiao had no choice but to put the money away and said with a smile, "Then I'll treat you to a meal another day."

Gao Xiaoping waved her hand: "No, why are you so polite?"

"Sister Xiaoping, you treat me as your good friend, and I treat you as my good friend too. I can't let you help me for nothing."

"It's not like you're helping me in vain. My wife is very satisfied with your house. He told me yesterday when he got home that a house near his workplace that's not very nice can only be rented out for around ten yuan a month. Your house is so nice, and you only rent it to us for ten yuan a month. We're taking advantage of you. You're so open and honest, so I can't be stingy. This is just returning the favor."

Gao Xiaoping spoke her mind without holding back. The more she spoke, the happier she became. "Besides, we get along really well. I'd be happy to help you even if it's for free."
