Chapter 18: Fooling Around (2/2)

Yun Qiao and Aunt Chen also nodded repeatedly: "The cooking skills are indeed good, it's delicious."

Halfway through the meal, Yun Qiao met a few students from his class who came to eat. They were all boys. They had hardly exchanged a few words and were not familiar with each other. They just nodded and said hello and left.

After dinner, it was almost dark, and Aunt Chen said she had something to tell Gao Xiaoping and that she wouldn't be going back with her. Yun Qiao expressed her understanding, and the three of them parted ways at the entrance of the state-owned restaurant.

Yun Qiao returned home along the same route, preparing to wash the quilt covers he had taken apart in the afternoon.

While the weather is still warm, wash the quilt cover at night, wring it out and hang it up to dry. It will be dry early tomorrow morning, so you can sew the newly fluffed quilt tomorrow.

Sewing a quilt wasn't difficult; she'd done it several times before with her grandmother. While the stitches were prone to crookedness, it wasn't noticeable unless you looked closely. It was her own quilt, not a gift, so it didn't matter if she made it just right.

While thinking about this, Yun Qiao suddenly heard the sound of hurried running behind her, followed by a male voice calling her name.

"Ye Yunqiao, Ye Yunqiao, wait."

Yun Qiao stopped and turned around, and found that it was a male student named Luo Wei whom he had just met in the state-owned restaurant.

Luo Wei ran to Yun Qiao and stopped, panting and saying, "Ye Yun Qiao, you walk so fast, I almost couldn't catch up with you."

Yun Qiao smiled politely and asked, "Luo Wei, what do you want to talk to me about?"

"A little bit." Luo Wei asked directly: "Ye Yunqiao, why haven't you been to school these days? I remember not seeing you in school for a week."

Yun Qiao nodded: "I haven't been to school these days. Oh, and I signed up to go to the countryside, so I won't be going to school anymore."

The list of people going to the countryside will be posted on the bulletin boards of the street and school, so Yun Qiao did not hide it.

Luo Wei was surprised: "Why? Aren't you an only child? I remember that only children are not allowed to go to the countryside."

"I signed up voluntarily." Yun Qiao didn't explain much. After all, he was just a junior student in the class and he wasn't familiar with the class.

"How is that possible? Going to the countryside is so hard!" Luo Wei didn't believe it at all: "Did the Youth League Office force you to sign up in order to meet the quota?"

"No, not this time! I really signed up voluntarily."

Yun Qiao felt that Luo Wei was a bit nosy, after all, they really didn't know each other well.

Yun Qiao was no longer willing to talk to him any more. "Master Luo Wei, if you don't have anything else, I'll leave first."

"Mom, look at the person in front, is he Ye Yunqiao?"

Su Lin stretched out a finger and poked Wang Chunhua's arm, indicating her to look forward.

"where?"

Wang Chunhua looked forward in the direction of Su Lin's finger, and sure enough, she saw Yun Qiao and a young man arguing with each other.

She curled her lips in disdain: "I was wondering why she hadn't come home so late, leaving us waiting for her, and it turns out she was out fooling around with some dubious guy!"

Wang Chunhua rolled up her sleeves and said angrily, "I'm going to beat this shameless bitch to death!"

Su Lin quickly grabbed Wang Chunhua's wrist and said, "Mom, Mom, wait a minute. That man looks a bit like the son of Deputy Director Luo from the National Cotton Mill No. 3."

Wang Chunhua paused and turned back: "Are you sure?"

"Likely, likely." Su Lin was not very sure. She only met him once yesterday when she went to the No. 3 National Cotton Mill to play with him. She had never spoken to him before.

She had heard of Luo Wei in her past life, though. Back then, his father, Deputy Factory Director Luo, had successfully removed the "deputy" from his title and become the head of the National Cotton Mill No. 3. Luo Wei, leveraging his family's connections, had opened a garment factory and later bought land and built a commercial building, becoming an even more famous boss than his father.

Although Pan Zhiyuan had made a fortune at that time, he was no match for big bosses like Luo Wei. When he met people, he still had to offer cigarettes and drinks and bow and nod when he met them.

The more Su Lin thought about it, the hotter she felt. She wished she could seize this opportunity to get to know Lowe immediately.
