Chapter 182: The Handle (1/2)

Chapter 182 The Handle

At noon that day, Yun Qiao had a simple meal at Wang Ying's house.

The meal was prepared by Wang Ying's husband Yang Laifu. There was a dish of stir-fried bacon with green peppers, a dish of scrambled eggs with cucumbers, and a pot of steamed rice without any other grains. It was considered an extremely sumptuous meal.

Later, Yun Qiao learned from a casual chat with Wang Ying that Yang Laifu had been her family's farmhand. During the Anti-Japanese War, her brother was arrested for joining the army, and the family suffered greatly. Almost all of the thirty-plus people in the family perished. It was Yang Laifu who, despite the pressure, hid her and her grandmother, saving them from disaster.

Later she married Yang Lai Fu, which was considered as a repayment for his life-saving grace.

Yun Qiao could also see that the couple had a very good relationship. Even though they were already middle-aged and had gray hair on their temples, when they talked about this old story, every look in their eyes and every smile they had was still filled with deep affection.

Yun Qiao was extremely envious.

Wang Ying has a special workshop at home, which is located in the west room of the main hall.

The west room is equipped with transparent window glass, and sunlight shines into the house through the glass, making the entire room bright.

There was a desk under the window, clean and tidy, with only a pen holder and two medical books on it. There was also a bookcase against the west wall, but there were not many books in the bookcase, mostly notebooks.

Wang Ying explained, "My notebooks contain information about the mothers and babies I've delivered. Although the Health Bureau doesn't require midwives to keep records, I still keep them in my notebooks. That way, if anything comes up, I can easily look them up. Otherwise, it's easy to forget things over time because you have to rely on your brain to remember everything."

Yun Qiao agreed and said, "Your habit is good and worth learning from."

Wang Ying skillfully pulled out a notebook with a gray kraft paper cover from the bookcase and handed it to Yun Qiao with a smile: "This is the notebook I took when I was a midwife. Although it's over thirty years old, the knowledge here is universal and should be useful to you."

"This is your personal note, it will definitely be useful." Yun Qiao happily took the notebook in his hand and said with a smile: "Thank you, I will definitely read it carefully."

Then Wang Ying took out a basic obstetrics textbook and gave it to Yun Qiao: "This is the professional textbook of the obstetrics department of Harbin Medical University. Take it back and read it together. Return it after you finish reading it. Don't lose it, because this is the only one I have."

Yun Qiao replied "OK" and held the book in his arms with care.

She stayed at Wang Ying's house until she had to go to work in the afternoon, and then she left Yang's house with the textbook and notes on which she had marked the dots.

The sun was very scorching at two o'clock in the afternoon. There were few big trees in the vast wilderness of the Great Northern Wilderness. Even though Yun Qiao wore a straw hat, he was still sweating profusely from the scorching sun along the way. The weak breeze brought by the bicycle was of no help in relieving the heat.

Yun Qiaoqi sped up his pedaling movements and rode the bicycle as fast as flying.

After passing Shuanglin Cave and going around the mountain, you will see the village of 㩙连 in front.

From a distance, Yun Qiao saw a group of people walking on the road ahead. They were all shirtless and looked very unrefined.

Riding a bicycle is much faster than walking, and Yun Qiao quickly caught up with the group of people on his bicycle.

When he got closer, Yun Qiao realized that it was Fu Ming and his followers who were punished to work in the reservoir two months ago.

Fu Ming and the others probably heard the sound of the bicycle as well, and they all turned around to look at Yun Qiao.

Seeing it was Yun Qiao, Fu Ming said "Yo," and with a cigarette between his fingers, he smiled crookedly, "It's Doctor Ye. What are you doing on your bike?"

Yun Qiao secretly cursed his bad luck.

She ignored Fu Ming, her face expressionless, but she was actually staring at the foot tweezers desperately. Like the wind, she passed Fu Ming and the others and quickly left.

Fu Ming's face suddenly turned gloomy. He raised his hand, took a deep puff of the cigarette, and exhaled a thick smoke ring.

Ma Guoqiang spat at the back of Yun Qiao's car and shouted, "Brother Ming, this woman doesn't know what's good for her. Do we need to teach her a lesson? After that, I guarantee she'll be completely submissive."
