"My sister is back. She just came back yesterday." Su Hua said, shaking the sack that had slipped off his shoulder.
Pan Zhiyuan was very considerate and immediately reached out to help her lift it: "Xiaohua, come here, let me help you carry it."
"No need, Brother Zhiyuan. I'll be home soon. I can carry it myself. No need to trouble you." Su Hua waved his hand to refuse.
"It's okay, it's just a few steps. I'll help you." Pan Zhiyuan took the sack from Su Hua's hand. His hand fell down and he sighed, "It's quite heavy."
He carried the sack on his back and asked as he walked, "Xiaohua, is your sister coming back to live with you this time?"
Su Hua nodded: "Yes, she has nowhere to go now, so she will stay with me for a few days."
Pan Zhiyuan: "Have she completed all the procedures for returning to the city?"
Su Hua shook his head: "I'm not sure about this."
Cai Zhuhua was willing to help Su Lin return to the city, but his wife didn't want him to be involved with a child raised by bad elements.
His wife felt that although Su Lin was the child of her husband's old friend, she had not grown up with him. As the saying goes, "If you keep company with vermilion, you will be redder." Who knew if this child raised by a bad element had been shaped?
After spending more than a dozen years around bad guys, even the youngest children will inevitably be affected by them.
Cai Zhuhua originally wanted to let Su Lin stay in his own house for a while, and then let her move into the pastry factory after Su Lin got a job there. However, due to his wife's strong opposition, he had no choice but to give up the idea.
So he thought of Su Kang.
Su Kang has raised Su Lin for more than a dozen years, and there must be some kind of love between them. I think he would be willing to take Su Lin in for a while.
But Su Kang was unwilling, and he didn't want to be involved with Su Lin.
Whenever he thought of Su Lin, he thought of Wang Chunyin. If Wang Chunyin had not done the foolish thing of stealing the baby, he would not have been implicated by her and sent to western Sichuan by his unit to suffer hardships.
Su Kang's refusal was beyond Cai Zhuhua's expectation. In order to make Su Kang give in, Cai Zhuhua could only agree to the conditions proposed by Su Kang on the phone and promised that if there was an opportunity in the future, he would give priority to transferring him back from western Sichuan.
The matter was thus resolved satisfactorily.
Su Kang agreed to take Su Lin in for a while and sent a telegram to inform Su Hua. After receiving the telegram, Su Hua was only responsible for picking up Su Lin from the train station and letting her stay at her home for a short period of time. He didn't know much else.
Su Hua didn't know the answer to any of the questions. Pan Zhiyuan asked a few questions but didn't get the answers he wanted, so he gave up and stopped asking.
The two climbed up to the top floor of the family building one after the other and came to the attic door.
Pan Zhiyuan wanted to push the door open, but Su Hua stopped him.
Su Hua said, "Brother Zhiyuan, wait a moment. My eldest sister has been on the train for a few days and is very tired. She might have fallen asleep. I'll call her first."
When she went out, Su Lin had already fallen asleep. If Pan Zhiyuan went in right away, he would catch her sleeping, which was not so nice.
Pan Zhiyuan nodded to show his understanding.
He put the sack in his hand on the ground and said to Su Hua, "You pick her up."
"Big sister? Big sister?" Su Hua reached out and knocked on the door, calling Su Lin's name loudly, reminding her: "Big sister, are you awake? Brother Zhiyuan learned that you returned to the city and came to visit you at home."
In the attic, Su Lin was sleeping soundly on the bed. In her drowsiness, she heard someone calling her name.
But her eyelids were painful and heavy as if they were weighed down by a thousand pounds, and she couldn't open them at all.
It took five days and nights to get from Gansu to Shanghai, with several changes of train. During this period, Su Lin never dared to close her eyes.
She was afraid of her luggage being stolen, afraid of missing her transfer station, and afraid of encountering human traffickers, so she could only close her eyes and doze off for a while. She was so tired that she fell asleep as soon as she touched the bed. She wished she could sleep for three days and three nights, but she was woken up after just one hour. She was tired and achy all over, and she didn't want to open her eyes.
She closed her eyes, turned over with the quilt in her arms, and heard Su Hua calling out from outside, "Brother Zhiyuan, come and see me."
Brother Zhiyuan?
Pan Zhiyuan? Why is he here?
When Su Lin heard Pan Zhiyuan's name, she shuddered all over and finally opened her eyes.
Now that Pan Zhiyuan has arrived, Su Lin cannot neglect him.
After the reform and opening up a decade ago, he was one of the first entrepreneurs in Shanghai to become rich. He was the richest person she could get at the moment!
"I'm awake, I'm awake." Su Lin hurriedly threw off the quilt and got out of bed. She put on her shoes and was about to open the door for them, but when she looked down, she saw her muddy cloth shoes and her bloated, ugly, and rustic cotton-padded jacket. Her feet seemed to be nailed to the ground, and she could not walk anymore.
