Chapter 28: Careful
Yun Qiao stared blankly at the national food coupons in her hand. After a long while, she finally realized that Qin Lili might have secretly given them to her.
After all, this morning, besides He Tingjun, she had only seen Qin Lili.
Yun Qiao's eyes were hot and his heart felt a little swollen. He couldn't tell whether he was moved or some other emotion.
In fact, her relationship with Qin Lili was not very good.
She, Qin Lili and Chen Anna lived in the same alley and grew up together, but because of their different family conditions, they were more close than close friends.
Chen Anna's family conditions were the best. Her mother's side was the eldest daughter of a capitalist family. Her family owned dozens of shops and several factories in Shanghai. Her grandparents were all state cadres and had been important figures in government departments since before liberation. Her relatives also had a background of studying abroad and were highly valued.
She lived in the most beautiful villa in the alley, and her family bought her a car to take her to and from school.
But later on, her situation was the worst among the three.
The Chen family had been targeted since before the movement, and even after all their wealth was gone, they still couldn't buy peace.
My mother couldn't stand the endless interrogation and persecution and divorced her. My father was first exiled to Yunnan and later disappeared at the border. There was no news of whether he was dead or alive. It's no exaggeration to say that our family was broken up.
Yun Qiao has suffered a lot since he was a child and has never felt safe since he was a child.
Only Qin Lili, although she is from a working-class family and her family lives in two small rooms, but she has a good family background and grew up carefree. As a result, she is a little naive and occasionally says hurtful words unintentionally, but she is essentially a good person.
In their previous life, ever since Yun Qiao moved out of the alley, the two had no contact. They got married and had children without inviting each other, and they were just acquaintances who nodded to each other.
So Yun Qiao never thought that in this life she would come to see him off when he was about to die. Not only did she prepare eggs for her to eat on the road, she also secretly stuffed a few national food coupons into her pocket.
Thinking of this, Yun Qiao felt a little complicated. These food coupons were like hot potatoes in his hands.
However, she had already boarded the train and couldn't return the coupons even if she wanted to. She could only put the food coupons back into her pocket, thinking that she would write back to Qin Lili when she arrived in the Great Northern Wilderness, and send her some local specialties as a thank you for her kindness.

The train started moving slowly. Yun Qiao leaned over the window and looked out curiously. Through the window, she heard someone blowing a whistle.
Accompanied by the sound of a clear whistle, the platform of the train station slowly receded from her sight.
The scene outside the window also changed from the train platform to the city street scene, and finally to the fields full of crops.
Yun Qiao was watching intently, unwilling to look away until the woman from the young couple across from her spoke, interrupting her thoughts: "Have you never been on a train? Why are you looking out?"
As she spoke, she looked outside with a strange look in her eyes: "There's nothing good to see. I'm used to seeing it all."
Although Yun Qiao has lived two lives, he has rarely taken a train.
She felt her curiosity was normal and not something to be ashamed of, so she nodded calmly: "Yeah, I haven't been on a train much, but I think it's quite nice outside."
Instead, the woman blushed at Yun Qiao's frank attitude. She realized belatedly that her attitude was wrong, as if he looked down on her.
"I'm sorry, that's not what I meant."
She was just wondering why Yun Qiao kept looking outside.
Yun Qiao smiled indifferently: "It's okay."
Anyway, it was just a chance encounter, and no one would see each other after getting off the car.
He Tingjun glanced at his watch and said to Yun Qiao, "It's 7:40 now. We have to stay on the train for more than 50 hours and won't arrive in Harbin until noon the day after tomorrow. Are you bored? I brought a book."
