Chapter 297: Confession (1/2)

At noon, Qin Zheng finally came out of the room with two big dark circles under his eyes.

He put on his regular military uniform, walked listlessly to the sink, took out his toothbrush and cup, squeezed toothpaste onto the brush, and began to brush his teeth.

There was a dark spot under his eyes, his eyes were lifeless, and his movements were very mechanical.

"Brother, what's wrong with you? Did you steal a cow last night?" Yun Qiao joked.

Qin Zheng ignored Yun Qiao. His mind was full of Yan Jingwan.

He felt that his own conditions were still quite good, and he couldn't understand why Yan Jingwan was dissatisfied with him and didn't even give him a chance to spend time with him.

"Brother, you are not worried about Sister Jingwan, are you?" Yun Qiao asked knowingly.

After hearing this, Qin Zheng finally raised his head and glanced at Yun Qiao, but still didn't say anything.

Yun Qiao: "Sister Jingwan, what's wrong with you? Don't be so quiet. Talk to me. I can give you some advice, too."

Qin Zheng paused, spit out the toothpaste foam in his mouth, rinsed his mouth, and said in a low voice: "She didn't do anything to me, she just didn't want to continue the relationship with me, and she didn't even want to see me again."

"Why?" Yun Qiao asked in confusion.

Qin Zheng sighed: "She said she has no feelings for me and doesn't want to have any further contact with me."

"Did Sister Jingwan tell you that in person?" Yun Qiao was a little unconvinced.

She felt that Yan Jingwan didn't seem to have no feelings for her brother.

Qin Zheng shook his head: "No, Aunt Cui told me."

"Isn't that what he said personally..." Yun Qiao frowned slightly, thought for a moment, and guessed, "Could there be some misunderstanding?"

Qin Zheng didn't want to doubt Cui Jing, but he also didn't want to give up on this relationship so easily, so he said noncommittally, "Maybe."

"Or, why don't you go find Sister Jingwan and express your feelings to her?" Yun Qiao suggested hesitantly.

"Even if it doesn't work out in the end, at least you bravely tried. That way, when you think about it later, you won't have any regrets."

This was exactly what Qin Zheng wanted.

Qin Zheng wasn't one to avoid things; he was always brave and decisive, taking action when he felt like it and getting to the bottom of things when he had doubts. His rise through the ranks, reaching the rank of regimental commander at such a young age, was inseparable from his unwavering determination and refusal to admit defeat.

Even if it is really impossible in the end, he has tried, fought for it, and he accepts the regret.

Feng Juan handed over a steaming hot lunch box and said to Qin Zheng, "Here, these are the dumplings I made today, filled with pure meat. Please take them to the art troupe for Comrade Yan Jingwan as a thank you for the tickets she gave me a few days ago. The New Year's Eve performance was great, and our whole family loved it."

How could Qin Zheng not know that Feng Juan wanted to help him? Otherwise, who else could deliver the dumplings but him?

Qin Zheng took the lunch box and said in a deep voice, "Thank you, Aunt Feng."

Feng Juan smiled, patted Qin Zheng's shoulder encouragingly, and said, "Go ahead. There's no need to rush back."

Yun Qiao also winked at Qin Zheng, clenched his fist, and made a "hit" gesture.

The art troupe was a little far from the family quarters, and Qin Zheng was afraid that the dumplings in the lunch box would get cold if the journey took too long, so he found a clean towel and wrapped it around the outside of the lunch box, then wrapped it inside his military coat, and kept it in his arms all the way. When he arrived at the art troupe, he could still feel the heat of the lunch box through the towel.

On the second day of the Lunar New Year, the art troupe was still on holiday.

All the comrades who lived locally went home to celebrate the New Year, leaving only a few comrades from other places to stay in the art troupe.

Qin Zheng had no idea which dormitory Yan Jingwan lived in, nor where she usually rehearsed. He was at a loss when he saw two female comrades coming down from the dormitory building. He quickly stepped forward and politely asked, "Excuse me, ladies, but do you know where Comrade Yan Jingwan is? I need to ask her for something. Could you please ask her to come out?"

"Yan Jingwan? I know her. She lives next door to me." One of the female comrades with two braids took the initiative to speak.
