Han Shuo was a little tired, so he handed the hoe to Han Rou, wanting her to wait for a while while he took a break. However, Han Rou refused to take it.
Even if Han Shuo wanted to be angry, he couldn't get angry. After all, his sister has always been like this. She has never been a workaholic since she was a child, and he is used to helping her.
Han Shuo placed the hoe on the ground, holding the handle with both hands. He took two deep breaths and asked Han Rou, "Rou Rou, you didn't come to work this early in the morning. Where have you been?"
"Why are you asking this?" Han Rou didn't want to say: "It has nothing to do with you."
"I'm just curious, so I'm asking." Han Shuo looked at Han Rou and said half-jokingly, "Besides, is there anything you can't tell me?"
"I can't tell you too much. Girls' secrets, do you understand?"
If Han Shuo said a few more words, Han Rou would become impatient, so Han Shuo didn't dare to ask any more questions.
He rested for a while, picked up the hoe again and continued weeding.
Han Rou followed behind and pulled the grass slowly for a while. Feeling a little tired of squatting, she stood up and stretched.
She rubbed her stomach and said to Han Shuo, "Brother, please help me. I have a stomachache."
Han Shuo looked up and saw her rubbing her stomach. He walked towards her with concern: "Why do you suddenly have a stomachache? Is it because you didn't eat breakfast?"
Han Rou didn't comment: "Maybe, I only drank a glass of warm water this morning."
Han Shuo said, "Are you hungry? Why don't you go to the dormitory and eat something? Do you still have the peach cakes we bought at the commune last time? If you do, go and have some and make a cup of malted milk. If not, go to the bathroom and ask Doctor Ye to see you."
Han Rou said, "I'll go eat something first. If the pain persists after eating, I can go to the bathroom."
"Okay, then go ahead."
"Okay." Han Rou nodded. "Then I'll be leaving first. You can help me with the farm work. I'll come right back when my stomach hurts."
"Don't worry about the work in the fields. I'm here." Han Shuo waved at Han Rou, signaling her to leave quickly.
Han Rou quickly left, holding her stomach.
Qi Bin, who was standing by, glanced at Han Rou's departing figure and couldn't help but say to Han Shuo, "Brother Han Shuo, don't pamper Han Rou too much. Haven't you noticed? She's almost leaving all her work to you."
Qi Bin and Han Shuo lived in the same dormitory, and their bunk beds were right next to each other. Since Han Shuo was a few years older than Qi Bin and he was used to being the older brother, he usually took good care of Qi Bin. Over time, the relationship between the two became better and better.
Qin Bin truly felt sorry for Han Shuo and stood up for him, saying, "Brother Han Shuo, you're usually so nice to Han Rou, but she never said a word in appreciation and even threw all her work onto you. How can you be considered a younger sister at all?"
He simply treats his own brother like a servant.
Han Shuo didn't mind this and smiled good-naturedly: "Han Rou is weak. I'm her older brother, so I should take better care of her on a daily basis."
Qi Bin curled his lips: "You are taking care of me too much." He almost worshipped her.
"There's nothing we can do about it." Han Shuo sighed. "Han Rou didn't eat breakfast this morning and has a stomachache. I can't let her go to work in the fields with such an aching stomach, can I?"
"What stomachache? I think she's just pretending to not want to work." Qi Bin had been keeping an eye on Han Rou. She hadn't been holding her stomach before. It was only after Han Shuo turned his head to look at her that she started holding it. It didn't look like she was pretending. She didn't really have a stomachache at all.
Han Shuo didn't believe this and his face immediately turned stern.
He couldn't bear to hear others say bad things about Han Rou.
"Qi Bin, don't say that. Han Rou is not that kind of person."
Qi Bin couldn't help but roll his eyes. "I've told you the truth. Believe it or not. If you like working so much, then go ahead and do it! Finish all of Han Rou's work!"
He rolled up his sleeves, walked forward, took his place, and began to swing the hoe.
Han Shuo glanced into the distance and saw Han Rou gradually walking away. He sighed lightly and lowered his head to continue working.
Han Shuo worked until noon and Han Rou never appeared in the fields again.
Back at the educated youth compound, Han Shuo walked directly to Han Rou's dormitory and knocked on her window: "Han Rou? Han Rou, is your stomach still hurting?"
There was no response from inside the room, and Han Shuo was a little worried. Since he was a man, it would not be convenient for him to go directly into the women's dormitory, so he pulled a female educated youth to come in and take a look.
The female educated youth looked into the room and found that there was no one there.
"Han Rou is not good."
Han Shuo quickly asked, "Where is she?"
The female educated youth shook her head: "I don't know, I just got off work."
Han Shuo was a little anxious. Just then, Wei Xing, who was passing by, said, "Looking for Han Rou? I think I saw Han Rou go to the bathroom."
