The field bus station is on the north side of the community, while the train station is at the southernmost end of the community. Fortunately, both of them are used to the journey, so they chatted along the way and didn't think the distance was too far.
The market was bustling with activity. We ran into a man selling candied haws on the way, and we each bought a string of them. Of course, the ones we chose were all flattened.
Yun Qiao took a bite. The candied shell on the outside was crispy, neutralizing the hawthorn acid. It was as delicious as ever.
"Wenjing, do you remember the first year we came to the farm? We went to the market for New Year and bought candied haws. You and Wang Ru picked out two big, red ones, but they were so frozen solid we couldn't even bite them."
"Of course I remember. I bought three bunches of candied haws for a dime, but before I could even eat a single bite, they fell into a snow pit." Zheng Wenjing laughed when she heard that. "From then on, I knew that when buying candied haws in winter, you can't buy the round ones, you have to buy the flat ones."
"Yes." Yun Qiao sighed, "Time flies so fast. In a blink of an eye, we have been in the Great Northern Wilderness for more than two years."
"I feel it's fast, too," Zheng Wenjing said wistfully. "It's like I haven't done anything, and time has already flown by. I don't know when there will be a policy that allows us educated youth to return to the city."
"I don't know either, but with so many educated youth coming to the Great Northern Wilderness, the higher-ups definitely won't let them stay here forever. Just be patient and wait. Maybe in a few years, a policy will be implemented that allows the educated youth to return to the city."
Although Yun Qiao knew it, he couldn't say it to anyone, so he could only comfort Zheng Wenjing with a few words.
Zheng Wenjing sighed: "This is the only way, what else can I do?"
Many people return home for the Spring Festival. Even though the Dongfanghong Railway Station is just a small station, there are still many people waiting in line to buy tickets.
Zheng Wenjing asked Yun Qiao to find a seat and wait for her for a while while she went to queue up.
Yun Qiao didn't listen: "It's boring to sit alone. I'll queue up with you. We can chat together."
Zheng Wenjing nodded: "Okay."
After waiting in line for more than half an hour, it was finally Zheng Wenjing's turn.
The Dongfanghong Station to Mishan is a rural railway, so tickets do not need to be purchased in advance. Zheng Wenjing needed to buy two tickets, one from Mishan to Harbin, then transfer from Harbin, and buy another ticket from Harbin to Beijing.
She bought two hard seats, spending a total of eleven dollars.
After leaving the ticket office, Yun Qiao asked Zheng Wenjing, "Which ticket number did you buy? I'll come and see you off later."
"I bought my ticket for the afternoon of the 27th. I took the rural railway to Mishan in the morning and boarded the train there in the afternoon." Zheng Wenjing handed the ticket to Yun Qiao and said, "You're here too late. Tickets for the previous days are all sold out. Only tickets are available for the 27th."
Yun Qiao took a look at it and asked her to put it away and not lose it.
"Ticket number 27 is fine too. It's two days and one night on the road, and I can still get home before the New Year."
Zheng Wenjing nodded and carefully put the ticket into the compartment of her bag.
Yun Qiao said, "I'll come and see you off on the 27th."
"No, don't bother." Zheng Wenjing thought for Yun Qiao and said, "It's quite far to come from your base."
Yun Qiao smiled sheepishly and said, "Actually, I want to ask you for a favor."
"As for our relationship, you can just say it directly. Why are you being so polite to me?"
Zheng Wenjing agreed immediately, "What is it? Just tell me, I will definitely agree."
