Ye Lin touched Pan Xiang's head and asked with a smile: "Did Xiangxiang listen to grandma today?"
Pan Xiang immediately hummed his voice to take credit, "I listened, I was very obedient, grandma even praised me for being well-behaved."
"Well, our Xiangxiang is so well behaved."
After coaxing Pan Xiang, Ye Lin glanced at her mother-in-law nervously and called out, "Mom."
Pan Zhiyuan's mother glanced at her coldly, snorted "hmm", turned and walked into the bedroom.
Her mother-in-law has always looked down on her. Even though she has given birth to a son for the Pan family, her mother-in-law loves and dotes on this grandson, but she still doesn't show any disapproval towards her.
It's not like she hasn't humbled herself and begged for favors before. She suffered injustice and humiliation, but the result was almost nothing.
Since it's useless, Ye Lin won't keep being humble.
No matter what she thought, every time she met her mother-in-law, Ye Lin couldn't help but feel scared and couldn't help but subconsciously observe the old lady's expression.
Pan Xiang leaned on Ye Lin's arms and asked his mother to hold him.
Ye Lin held Pan Xiang in her arms, coaxing him to continue reading the comic book. Then she turned her head and whispered to Pan Zhiyuan, "Zhiyuan, when you go to your sister's place with Mom later, if Mom asks you to give her money, don't be so foolish as to give it out right away. If Mom wants to help her, let her do it herself. We're already living a tight life, how can we afford to go out all the time without earning anything?"
Pan Zhiyuan nodded: "I know this, you don't need to tell me."
Ye Lin: "You only knew it in words, but when we got there, you gave her the money without hesitation."
"Look at you, bringing it up again. Didn't you just scramble for time last time? She's my sister, she's not doing well, and as her brother I don't give her a penny either. Could you please stop nagging about it all the time?" Pan Zhiyuan said with some impatience.
Ye Lin: "It's not that I don't want you to help my sister. She's having a hard time with her big pregnancy, and as her sister-in-law, I can't bear to see that. So when Mom asked me to find a way to buy a chicken, I didn't refuse. Her current difficulties aren't our fault, so even if we want to help, we have to do it within our means. We can't go without food for our own family just to help her, can we?"
Pan Zhiyuan thought Ye Lin was exaggerating. "I only gave her a few dollars, and she's already starving."
"You don't take care of household chores, and you don't know how expensive firewood, rice, oil, and salt are. This year, we don't have any savings left. We won't even be able to afford to buy some meat." Ye Lin complained, "When your brother-in-law was doing well, we didn't benefit from his family's success. Now that he's in trouble, it's our family that's been affected the most. It's so unfair."
"Forget it, let's not talk about this anymore." Pan Zhiyuan didn't want to listen to Ye Lin's complaints, so he changed the subject: "I was just standing by the window when I saw Xiaohua chasing a woman out. From a distance, she looked like the one you mistakenly picked up. Did you run into her when you came back from outside?"
Su Hua lived in the attic, which was diagonally opposite the staff building where the Pan family lived. When Yun Qiao came down from Su Hua's house, he was seen by Pan Zhiyuan who was standing in front of the window opposite.
"Ye Yunqiao?" Ye Lin retracted her fingers, her eyes suddenly becoming alert: "Are you sure? Didn't you only meet her once before? How could you still remember what she looked like?"
Ye Lin felt a sense of crisis.
Perhaps because she had snatched the man away from someone else, she didn't have enough trust in Pan Zhiyuan, so she was particularly afraid that the man would be snatched away by someone else again.
Pan Zhiyuan didn't understand why Ye Lin reacted so strongly. He glanced at her and said angrily, "How could I not remember? The first time I was beaten by a woman was by her."
Being kicked in the butt and falling flat on the ground was such an embarrassing thing that Pan Zhiyuan felt he would never forget it for the rest of his life.
