Chapter 53: Bad Talk (1/2)

Chapter 53: Bad Talk

As the wake-up call sounded in the early morning, the educated youth compound began to become noisy.

The old educated youth were in a hurry, while the new educated youth were leisurely. The two completely different expressions made the two groups of people confused.

While Yun Qiao was squatting by the well brushing his teeth, the company's communicator Lu Xun came to the educated youth compound.

"New educated youth, please stop for a moment." As soon as he entered the door, he clapped his hands vigorously, attracting everyone's attention.

The newly arrived educated youth then walked over to him and formed a circle in front of him.

Lu Xun nodded in satisfaction, then spoke, "I'm Lu Xun, the communicator for our Fifth Company. Instructor Zhao asked me to inform you to gather at the threshing ground for a meeting at 8:30 sharp. Are all the newly arrived educated youth here?"

"Report."

A male educated youth raised his hand and said, "Several new educated youth have gone to the cafeteria to eat."

"Those of you in the meeting, remember to tell those who are not here. Everyone must be here at 8:30. Instructor Zhao will call the roll before the meeting. No one will be absent."

Lu Xun left after saying this.

The educated youth who had a watch took a look at the time and found that it was almost eight o'clock.

As soon as he told everyone the time, they immediately became anxious.

They have to gather at the threshing ground for a meeting at 8:30, and they haven't even had lunch yet.

Yun Qiao also quickened the pace of washing up. He didn't have time to apply the vanishing cream carefully, so he just scooped up half a drop with his fingers, rubbed it on his face and considered it done.

The canteen was not far behind the educated youth compound. It was a row of simple thatched houses with braided straw. The walls were made of braided straw, but the inside and outside were covered with a layer of mud.

The door consisted of two rough panels, probably not carefully polished, with some areas still showing signs of bark. On one of the panels hung a wooden board made of similar material, with the word "canteen" written on it in black paint. The calligraphy was beautiful and graceful.

Yun Qiao had never learned calligraphy, so he couldn't recognize the specific font, but the person who wrote it must have learned calligraphy, otherwise he couldn't have written such elegant and graceful characters.

The new educated youth were all eager to eat, and the cafeteria was soon filled with long queues.

Yun Qiao waited in line for a while before it was his turn. He received a half-grain steamed bun and a bowl of fermented soybeans. The meal was rice porridge, but the soup was so watery that few grains of rice could be seen.

After dinner, Yun Qiao cleaned the lunch box and sent it to the dormitory, then hurried to the threshing ground.

"Ye Yunqiao, wait for me."

Someone called her name from behind. Yun Qiao looked up and found it was Qi Chunyu.

"If we meet, let's go together."

So Yun Qiao slowed down and waited for her to catch up.

When we arrived at the threshing ground, most of the new educated youth had already arrived.

Yun Qiao found a place to stand. Qi Chunyu did not go to the seat where her cousin Zheng Yujing was standing, but stood next to her instead.
