Chapter 549: Grievances

After sending Qiyun to Chen Qiyun, Yun Qiao called Zheng Wenjing using his home phone.

Zheng Wenjing went to work and was not at home. The operator of the staff building said that he would help Yun Qiao pass on the message and ask Zheng Wenjing to call back when she got home from get off work.

Yun Qiao responded with an "OK".

Zheng Wenjing didn't call back until the evening. Yun Qiao told her that Shen Qiyun wanted to interview her, and Zheng Wenjing immediately refused.

"No, I won't agree. I don't want to meet her face to face, let alone be interviewed by her," Zheng Wenjing said. "Besides, I'm leaving Beijing soon. Ji Yu got me a chance to stay with the crew, and I'm leaving early tomorrow morning."

"Okay, I'll help you decline it then." Yun Qiao said with a smile, "I hope you have a great time on this trip."

"Hahaha, even though we haven't set off yet, I'm already happy."

Zheng Wenjing's cheerful voice came from the receiver. Yun Qiao could feel her joy through the phone and felt happy for her in his heart.

Afterwards, Yun Qiao told Shen Qiyun that Zheng Wenjing had left the capital for something and could not accept the interview. Shen Qiyun was a little disappointed, but could only smile helplessly.

In the following days, Yun Qiao and He Tingjun traveled all over the capital, sometimes taking their children with them, and sometimes leaving the children behind and going out alone.

He Tingjun took Yun Qiao to see the cats in the Forbidden City that they had written to each other in the letters they had exchanged when they were in love.

The kittens were lazily lying on the stone steps basking in the sun. Yun Qiao was delighted to see them. She used the pendant hanging on her bag as a cat toy and went forward to tease them. He Tingjun just stood quietly by and looked at her gently. In his eyes, she was the most beautiful person in the world.

Happy times always pass quickly. At the end of August, He Tingjun's vacation ended and he reported to his new unit.

The new unit is a closed one. Although there are four days of vacation every month, the dates are not fixed due to rotation and scheduling issues.

But it doesn't matter. After all, He Tingjun can go home every week, which is much better than other military wives who are thousands of miles away from their husbands.

School starts on September 1st.

There is a government school near the cadre compound that combines a kindergarten, primary school and junior high school.

He Yan's household registration was registered with Yun Qiao in Qin Lin's household registration book. With the family address on the household registration book, He Yan was easily enrolled in the government kindergarten.

On the first day of transferring to the Beijing Kindergarten, He Yan matched herself with a pink dress with tassels, tied her hair into two ponytails, and pinned two beautiful bow hairpins on her head.

The bow hairpin was made by Feng Juan using scraps of cloth left over from making a skirt, and it matches the little skirt He Yan is wearing.

He Yan, carrying her schoolbag, was led by Yun Qiao to school. She was jumping and skipping along the way, pulling at the hem of her skirt and showing off to Yun Qiao: "Mom, I must be the most beautiful kid in the kindergarten today."

Yun Qiao smiled and touched He Yan's little head, saying, "Yes, our Yanyan is the most beautiful."

When they arrived at the kindergarten gate, Yun Qiao squatted down to tidy up He Yan's skirt and hair, and gently reminded her: "Yanyan, when you go to school, you must listen to your teachers and get along well with the other children. Do you understand?"

He Yan nodded obediently and said in a baby voice, "I know, Mommy."

Yun Qiao handed He Yan's hand to the kindergarten teacher and watched He Yan's small figure being led into the classroom by the teacher.

He Yan has an outgoing personality, is enthusiastic and loves to laugh. He is the most popular one among the kids and can get along with everyone.

She rarely made Yun Qiao worry.

Yun Qiao was also confident in her.

But Yun Qiao never expected that when she went to pick up He Yan from the kindergarten after school in the afternoon, He Yan came out of the kindergarten crying.

The twin ponytails that she had tied in the morning were gone, as was the bow hairpin that matched her skirt. Instead, she had a single, messy braid that was tied askew, with many loose strands of hair scattered about.

Her eyes were red, there were traces of tears on her cheeks, and there were red marks on her neck from being scratched by nails. It was obvious that she had suffered a great injustice.

Yun Qiao's head exploded all of a sudden, and he shot a questioning look at the teacher beside him.

She still had a shred of rationality left in her, and suppressing her anger, she asked in the calmest tone possible, "Teacher? I'd like to ask, what's going on?"
