Chapter 603: Humans are Flesh and Blood (1/2)

After being exposed by Yun Qiao in front of him, Qin Lin's cheeks turned a little red with embarrassment.

He touched his nose awkwardly and whispered, "Yes, my attitude was wrong yesterday. I shouldn't have said that to you. So, today I want to say sorry to you. I hope you can forgive me and don't take it to heart."

Qin Lin's proactive apology was a rare sight in Yun Qiao's eyes, so she didn't dwell on it. She simply waved her hand and said, "My dear father, I don't take it to heart. We're both thinking about Qin Chang's well-being, we just have different perspectives. There's nothing wrong with that."

Qin Lin hummed and said, "I thought about this for a long time last night. We really can't force Qin Chang to stay in the capital to study. He wants to be a soldier and doesn't want to study. Even if we force him to study, he won't learn."

Yun Qiao: "So what do you mean?"

"I think we should respect Qin Chang's own choice." Qin Lin said in a deep voice: "I was mistaken before. He is so young and has his own ideas. This is very unusual. As parents, we should support him."

Yun Qiao nodded and said, "I'm glad you understand. I've always believed that everyone should choose their own path in life, rather than having others force them to choose for them."

"Being a soldier is quite rewarding. Although military service is tough, it can also train people. There are many people out there who want to be soldiers but can't."

Qin Lin hummed and said, "March is the conscription season. I'll have someone submit his name later."

Yun Qiao nodded and felt relieved.

Letting Qin Changchen serve as a soldier was a satisfactory solution to this problem.

After Qin Lin and Yun Qiao finished their conversation, the atmosphere at home became much more relaxed.

When Qin Chang got up and came down from upstairs, Qin Lin waved at him and motioned Qin Chang to sit next to him.

"Uncle." Qin Chang called him, looking a little nervous.

"Xiaochang, don't be nervous." Qin Lin's eyes were full of kindness and his tone was smiling.

"Regarding your statement yesterday about wanting to join the military, I have carefully considered it and have decided to respect your decision."

Qin Chang was stunned for a moment, then a look of surprise appeared on his face.

He didn't expect his uncle to change his attitude so quickly, and he didn't expect him to go against his grandmother's instructions and actively support him.

His eyes were hot, and when he spoke, his voice was filled with tears, "Uncle, thank you."

Qin Lin said, "Xiaochang, there's no need to thank me. This is your own idea. You have your own path to pursue, and that's perfectly fine. As your elders, our greatest wish is that you can live a happy and stable life. Since you've chosen this path, then stick to it and don't let yourself down."

"I will." Qin Chang choked up and nodded. "Uncle, I know you, like grandma, hope that I can continue my studies and get a stable and respectable job after graduation, but I really want to join the army. This is a dream I've had since I was a child. No matter what, thank you for supporting me. When I join the army, I will work hard and never back down, no matter how hard or tiring it is. I will strive to win glory and honors."

"Grandpa doesn't care about honor or dishonor. I just want you to be honest and upright." Qin Lin stood up, gently patted Qin Chang's shoulder, and said in a deep voice: "Why doesn't your grandmother agree to her children joining the army? It's because she knows too well the horrors of war. She hopes that her children can live in peace and happiness until old age, even if they are mediocre. Don't you understand?"

Qin Chang nodded: "I understand."

Qin Lin continued, "Grandpa Uncle doesn't ask you to compete for the first place. Grandpa Uncle only hopes that no matter what, you can always put your own life first. Don't let your family members suffer the pain of losing their loved ones."

Qin Chang felt a little sad when he heard this.

He nodded with red eyes, and said with a choked voice: "Uncle, don't worry, I will protect myself."

"I know you and grandma are worried about me, and I understand the cruelty of war, but I never chose to join the army to show off. You and Uncle Zheng have always been my role models. I also want to be a hero like you and Uncle Zheng. I want to train myself and become a useful person to the country."

"But I will always remember your words and put my own safety first."

The sixteen-year-old boy is already taller than Qin Lin.

When he talked about his dreams, his expression was determined and there was a gleam in his eyes.

Qin Lin looked at Qin Chang like this, his eyes full of relief.

"My child, I'm proud of you for thinking this way. Remember, no matter where you go in the future, your family will always be your support. When you join the army, remember to write home often and don't let them worry about you."

Qin Chang nodded: "I will."

In this way, Qin Chang's future finally had a direction.

Although this path was not what Qin Lin had originally envisioned, it was the path Qin Chang had chosen himself. As long as he was willing to work hard, there would surely be a bright future waiting for him at the end of this path.

In the following days, Qin Chang began to prepare for joining the army.

He started by getting up early every day to exercise, and when He Tingjun was at home, he took the initiative to ask him for advice, learn about some of the military's affairs, and learn some basic military knowledge from him.

Qin Lin saw it all and had a clearer understanding of his determination to join the army.

Time flew by and it was early March, and the conscription day arrived as scheduled.

Qin Chang is 1.8 meters tall, with long limbs and a healthy body. With such physical conditions, his selection is a foregone conclusion.

On the day of enlistment, Qin Chang put on a brand new military uniform, with a glorious big red flower on his chest. Standing on the platform of the train station, he saluted Qin Lin with a not-so-standard military salute.

"Uncle, I'm dead. Please stay at home and take care of yourself."

"Tuo."

Qin Lin stood alone on the platform and watched Qin Chang get on the train.

With a beep, the train whistle blew long and loud.

The train started to move, and with the sound of "clang clang", the train slowly began to move forward.

Qin Chang stuck his head out of the car window and waved goodbye desperately to the people outside: "Goodbye, Uncle."

Qin Lin watched the train go away. For a moment, the scene overlapped with the scene when he sent Qin Zheng to join the army.

Qin Lin's eyes became moist for a moment. He raised his hand and rubbed his eyes seemingly unintentionally.

When he returned home, Feng Juan was sitting by the pond in the yard picking wild vegetables. Seeing him come in, she casually asked, "Did you send the person away?"
