However, it was not Yan Jingwan's turn to arrange a car to pick someone up the next day.
I don't know whether it was Yan Cheng who called Commander Liang, or Yan Jingshu who contacted him. In any case, when Commander Liang learned that Commander Yan sent his second daughter to the army to attend the wedding of his eldest daughter, he took the initiative to arrange a car to go to the train station to pick her up.
At noon that day, Cui Jing invited Yan Jingwan and Qin Zheng to her home for lunch, but the food was still not served after twelve o'clock. Yan Jingwan had a clue in her heart, knowing that they had to wait until Yan Jingshu arrived before they could eat.
Commander Liang had not returned yet, so Cui Jing went to the kitchen to arrange the lunch dishes. Yan Jingwan sat on the sofa in the Liang family's living room, took two mung bean cakes from the plate on the coffee table, and did not forget to hand one to Qin Zheng.
Qin Zheng looked at her and asked, "Are you hungry?"
Yan Jingwan hummed, took a bite of the cake, and said, "The driver will take at least an hour and a half to pick me up from the train station. It's still early, so let's eat a piece of cake first."
So Qin Zheng opened his mouth and ate the mung bean cake in his hand.
The young couple watched TV leisurely in the living room for a while. Cui Jing also came out from the kitchen, chatted with them with a smile, and then sat on the sofa to watch TV with them.
After more than half an hour, Commander Liang finally got off work and went home.
Qin Zheng and Yan Jingwan stood up and greeted him.
Teacher Liang smiled and said in a friendly tone, "How are the wedding preparations going for you two?"
Yan Jingwan smiled and replied, "Everything is almost ready."
Teacher Liang nodded and said, "If you have any questions or doubts, you can ask your Aunt Cui. She has arranged the weddings of several children in our family, so she has experience in this area."
Qin Zheng and Yan Jingwan looked at each other and nodded at the same time: "We will, thank you for your concern."
As they were talking, the sound of a car was heard outside the door.
Commander Liang glanced at the time on his wrist and chuckled, "At this time, Xiao Hai must have come back from the train station to pick someone up."
"Hello, go and take a look." He stood up and went to the door with Cui Jing to greet them. Yan Jingwan and Qin Zheng also stood up.
When I got to the door, I saw a military green jeep parked in the yard.
Xiao Hai jumped out of the driver's seat, walked around to the back and opened the car door for Yan Jingwan.
Yan Jingwan got out of the car. Her black hair was sleek, braided into a long braid, and she wore a long, snow-blue blouse that covered her calves. She wore a pair of light brown leather shoes, revealing a slender ankle. Her outfit was remarkably ladylike and feminine, perfectly matching the meaning of "Jingshu" in her name. However, her features were rather heroic, giving her a somewhat strange aura.
The door on the other side opened and Jian Tao also got out of the car.
Yan Jingshu took the initiative to greet Teacher Liang and Cui Jing: "You must be Uncle Liang and Aunt Cui, right? I heard my father came to see you at home."
Commander Liang and Cui Jing smiled at each other.
Cui Jing even stepped forward enthusiastically and took Yan Jingshu's arm, saying with great joy: "Really? That's great. Come in, let's go in and have a good chat."
Yan Jingshu nodded, took Cui Jing's arm, and said in a sweet voice: "Okay, Aunt Cui, let's go inside and talk."
When she passed by Yan Jingwan when she entered the house, Yan Jingshu raised her eyebrows at her and took the initiative to greet her: "Sister, long time no see."
Yan Jingwan didn't move her eyebrows, and nodded coldly: "Long time no see."
Yan Jingshu smiled slightly, not minding her alienation. Her gaze turned to Qin Zheng who was standing beside her, and a look of surprise flashed in her eyes.
"This is my future brother-in-law, right?"
Yan Jingshu didn't expect Qin Zheng to be so handsome.
Before coming, she thought Yan Jingwan had found an old man in his thirties who had gained weight and was bald.
Yan Jingwan nodded.
Qin Zheng politely nodded slightly towards Yan Jingwan and said, "Hello, I'm Qin Zheng."
He completely stood on Yan Jingwan's side, so when he spoke to Yan Jingshu, his voice was also a bit cold and distant.
"Hello, brother-in-law, I'm your sister Jingshu."
Yan Jingshu didn't seem to mind Qin Zheng's coldness and aloofness at all. Her smile grew even brighter as she turned to praise Yan Jingwan: "Sister, your taste is still as good as ever! Your brother-in-law is very handsome. The two of you standing together are a perfect match."
Yan Jingwan heard the sarcasm in her words, a hint of displeasure flashed in her eyes, and her brows furrowed.
Sensing Yan Jingwan's emotions, Qin Zheng took her hand, pulled her closer to him, and said to Yan Jingshu, "Thank you for coming all the way to attend my wedding with your sister, and thank you for your praise of us both."
Yan Jingwan turned her head to look at Qin Zheng, and her eyes met his. His gaze fell on her, his eyes full of tenderness and determination.
Yan Jingwan's heart suddenly calmed down.
She smiled at Yan Jingshu and said, "Well, thank you for agreeing with my opinion. Your brother-in-law is indeed handsome. I also think we are a perfect match."
Yan Jingshu was choked and couldn't speak for a long time.
At this time, Jian Tao touched his stomach and said, "Sister, when can we eat? I'm so hungry."
"Right away, right away." Cui Jing tried to smooth things over: "Okay, stop standing at the door and talking. Let's go inside and talk."
After saying that, she leaned towards the kitchen and called out to the nanny, "Mrs. Zhang, the guests are all here. The food can be served."
Everyone entered the restaurant, and Cui Jing greeted them warmly: "Jingshu, come and sit down. Brother Jingshu, you sit down too."
He then called out to Yan Jingwan and Qin Zheng: "You are not outsiders, please sit wherever you like."
Everyone took their seats and the nanny brought a variety of dishes to the table.
At the dinner table, after some pleasantries, Cui Jing enthusiastically served food to Yan Jingshu, asked her about her life in Beijing, and tried to find out about Yan Cheng's life.
Yan Jingshu was like a little bird, chattering non-stop to Cui Jing.
Yan Jingwan didn't join in the fun. The dishes were so rich and she was very hungry, so she sat quietly next to Qin Zheng and ate. Occasionally, when someone asked them a question, she would answer a sentence or two.
After the meal, it was time to go to work.
Commander Liang called Qin Zheng to go out to work together.
Cui Jing helped the nanny clear the dishes on the dining table, and Yan Jingwan naturally lent a hand.
After coming out of the restaurant, Cui Jing naturally asked Yan Jingshu about her accommodation.
Yan Jingwan said: "Of course we'll stay at the guesthouse."
Cui Jingyu: "Wouldn't it be inconvenient to stay in a guesthouse?"
