Chapter 439: Solid Ice (1/2)

"Do you need me to help in the kitchen?" Yan Jingwan asked politely.

Qin Zheng shook his head: "No, you can just chat with Yun Qiao in the living room. You've finally come here, how can I ask you to work in the kitchen?"

Yun Qiao also said, "That's right, we don't ask guests to come to our house to work. Sister Jingwan, just sit here and wait. My brother and the others will be able to help in the kitchen."

Hearing Yun Qiao say this, Yan Jingwan smiled and did not insist any more, "Okay."

She sat down at the table, and Yun Qiao picked up the teapot on the table and poured her a cup of warm water.

The two chatted for a while, just asking each other about work and whether it was going well. After asking each other back and forth, Yan Jingwan asked Yun Qiao if being pregnant was difficult and how she felt.

In short, these are all common small talk techniques.

After chatting for a while, Qin Zheng came out of the kitchen and walked over to Yan Jingwan, asking her if she wanted to eat chopped green onions and cilantro. Did she have any dietary restrictions?

Yan Jingwan said, "I can't get used to the taste of cilantro. Can you leave it out?"

Qin Zheng nodded: "Of course I can."

Yan Jingwan: "I only dislike cilantro, everything else is fine."

"Yeah, okay, I understand."

The kitchen and the living room were separated by only a wooden partition, which was completely soundproof. Feng Juan heard it from inside the house and immediately put away the washed coriander.

The food is ready, just sprinkle some chopped green onions on it for garnish. Yan Jingwan doesn't eat cilantro, so you don't need to add it.

Qin Zheng returned to the kitchen and Feng Juan had already started serving the dishes.

"It's time to eat. Let's take everything out," Feng Juan said, reminding him, "The outside of the casserole is very hot. Wrap it with a towel and be careful not to burn your hands."

"Yeah, I know."

Qin Zheng came out of the kitchen carrying a clay pot of fish head and placed it on the dining table in the living room. Yan Jingwan helped Yun Qiao put away the teapot and cups on the table. Then, He Tingjun and Feng Juan brought out several dishes one after another.

In addition to dishes made with a whole fish such as fish head stew, pickled fish fillets, and fish ball soup, Feng Juan also stir-fried bacon with garlic sprouts, scrambled eggs with chopped green onions, and a seasonal vegetable salad.

"It's time to eat," Feng Juan said, placing the bowls and chopsticks on the table one by one. She smiled and said to Yan Jingwan, "Comrade Yan, please take a seat."

Yan Jingwan hummed and said, "Auntie, you can just call me by my name."

"Then I'll call you Jingwan from now on." Feng Juan smiled and took her hand, pulling her to her side. "Jingwan, come, sit here, sit next to me."

Feng Juan did not arrange Yan Jingwan to be with Qin Zheng just because she wanted to bring Qin Zheng and Yan Jingwan together.

She let Yan Jingwan sit next to her, and next to Yun Qiao on the other side. There were women on both sides, and this seating arrangement made Yan Jingwan relax.

However, this arrangement is also beneficial to Qin Zheng, because he is sitting directly opposite Yan Jingwan, and the two can look at each other just by raising their eyes.

They all sat down and started eating.

Feng Juan picked up some food for Yan Jingwan and said, "Try the pickled fish made by Auntie. Is it delicious?"

Yan Jingwan nodded and put it into her mouth politely. "It's delicious. The fish slices are very thin and tender, and very tasty. It has just the right amount of sour and spicy. It goes well with rice."

Feng Juan smiled and said, "Qin Zheng helped prepare the fish fillets. Although he can't cook, his temperament is pretty good. He's willing to work when you ask him to."

Yan Jingwan pursed her lips and subconsciously glanced across. Coincidentally, Qin Zheng was also looking at her at this moment. The two of them looked at each other for a moment, paused for half a second, and then both looked away calmly.

Yan Jingwan lowered her head to eat her fish. Feng Juan continued, "It's not a problem if a man doesn't know how to do something. As long as he's willing to let you do it and does it enough, he'll learn everything. The real problem is the man who doesn't know how to do something and isn't willing to help. Don't expect him to share any of the burden for the rest of your life."

Feng Juan had something in mind, and Yan Jingwan also understood what she meant.
