Chapter 458 Meeting

Li Jinniu came to deliver the message without hiding it from anyone. As soon as the words came out, the talking in the tent fell silent for a moment.

Chen Rong subconsciously turned around and glanced at Yan Jingwan.

Yan Jingwan ignored the reactions of others and replied, "Wait a moment, I'll be right out." Then she threw back the quilt, got out of bed, and put on her shoes.

She bent down to fold the quilt on the bed, then used her hands to smooth out her messy hair and toss it out.

Lifting the tent curtain, it was still drizzling outside, and Li Jinniu stood at the door holding an umbrella.

Yan Jingwan said to him, "Go ahead."

Seeing that Yan Jingwan didn't bring an umbrella, Li Jinniu handed her his own umbrella and said, "Yan Zhizhi, you can use it."

Li Jinniu was wearing a raincoat, and this umbrella was brought here for her.

Yan Jingwan didn't bother to be polite and said, "Thank you." Then she asked him, "When will Captain Qin be back?"

"Captain Qin just came back. As soon as he entered the camp, he heard that you had looked for him in the afternoon, so he wanted to come and see you right away. However, his leader asked him to attend a meeting, so he couldn't get away for the time being and couldn't come. He had no choice but to let me take you to find him, and I'm sorry to trouble you to wait for him for a while." Li Jinniu explained.

Yan Jingwan: "It's okay, he's busy with work, I'm relatively free, I can just wait for him."

Li Jinniu smiled and asked her, "Yan Qizhi, have you eaten?"

Yan Jingwan shook her head: "Not yet."

Li Jinniu smiled and said, "That's perfect. Let's go to the cafeteria and get some food. When Captain Qin finishes his meeting, we'll have him meet us there."

Yan Jingwan nodded: "Okay."

It was dinner time in the evening, and the cafeteria was crowded. There was a long line of people in front of each line for food, and the cafeteria tent, which was not very big in the future, was so crowded that there was no air to breathe.

After waiting in line for about ten hours, Yan Jingwan ordered two lunch boxes of vegetables and bought four steamed buns.

In fact, according to Yan Jingwan's appetite, one was enough for her, but she had eaten with Qin Zheng several times before and knew that he had a big appetite, so she bought the remaining three for Qin Zheng.

The tent was not big, and there were not many tables to sit and eat. After getting the food, everyone either found a clean open space and squatted down to eat on the spot, or took the food back to their accommodation.

Yan Jingwan was a little dazed as she finished her meal and held her lunch box. Li Jinniu called her name and waved at her, "Yan Zhizhi, this way."

Yan Jingwan walked towards him.

Li Jinniu led her to a table in the corner that was packed with people. As she approached, several people sitting there stood up and waved enthusiastically, "Yan Xizhi, please sit down."

"Yan Zhizhi, I'm done eating. Please sit here with me."

Yan Jingwan was a little embarrassed: "No, no need, you guys sit down."

She didn't even know these people, so how could she have the nerve to take their seat.

"They've all finished eating. Yan Qizhi, please take a seat. It's all right." Li Jinniu explained, "This is the table where our group eats. Yan Qizhi, please sit here and wait for our Qin group. I'll go out and see if he's finished his meeting."

Yan Jingwan responded with a "yes" and sat down in the vacant seat very cautiously, listening to the young soldiers in Qin Zheng's regiment asking her questions.

They should be the direct descendants of Qin Zheng's group, and they are all aware of her identity. Although they didn't call her "sister-in-law" openly, they winked and made faces when talking to her. Yan Jingwan is not a fool, so she knows what they mean.

Fortunately, Qin Zheng came over after the meeting and rescued Yan Jingwan from this embarrassing and awkward situation.

Qin Zheng had just returned from disaster relief work and had been called to a meeting. He hadn't even had time to change his clothes. His trouser legs were smeared with mud, and his sleeve had been scraped open by something, leaving a gaping hole like a gaping mouth, revealing bloodstained skin. However, his expression was resolute, and his spirit was high. Despite his tattered clothes, he didn't look at all disheveled. Instead, he exuded a dashing, heroic air, like a sword unsheathed, a sight that drew the eye.

As soon as Qin Zheng arrived, the soldiers in his regiment dispersed very tactfully. Li Jinniu also took his lunch box and found a new place to eat, tacitly leaving the space for him and Yan Jingwan to be alone together.

Qin Zheng sat down opposite Yan Jingwan.

He had a lot of things he wanted to say to Yan Jingwan, but since they were face to face, he didn't know how to start.

I'm afraid that once I open my mouth, I'll be rejected again.

He pretended to be relaxed and asked, "When will we be released from quarantine?"

"Today at noon."

Yan Jingwan also had a lot to say. It wasn’t that she didn’t know how to start, but she felt that this environment was not right.

The small tent was crowded with people all around. If you said something one second, it would probably be spread everywhere the next second. It was really not a good time to have a heart-to-heart talk.

She smiled at Qin Zheng and pushed the lunch box in front of him: "Let's eat first."

"Okay." Qin Zheng opened the lunch box and saw three steamed buns inside. He was slightly startled. "Can you buy me some rice?"

Yan Jingwan nodded: "I was worried that you wouldn't have enough to eat, so I bought two more steamed buns."

Qin Zheng felt a warm feeling in his heart: "Thank you."

The two of them ate in silence, occasionally looking up, their eyes met, and then quickly looking away.
