Chapter 1 Lifeline
"Don't!" In the lounge, Yun Ran leaned bonelessly in Gu He's arms, her hands clasping his chest, biting her small red lips, "If you don't go on, Miss Qin will be worried."
Today is the birthday of Qin Ruo, the daughter of the Qin family, and also her engagement party with Gu He.
The luxurious banquet hall was crowded with guests.
In the lounge upstairs, Gu He, the future fiancé, was breathing heavily, his suit disheveled as he hugged Yun Ran, looking as if he didn't care about anything and was completely indulging himself.
"I said that getting engaged to Ruoruo is just a temporary measure." Yun Ran's implicit rejection made Gu He frown instinctively.
He looked at the delicate and beautiful girl in front of him, who was as pretty as a doll, and a deep sadness overflowed from his deep eyes.
Qin Qing...
She had been gone for three whole years.
After losing her, Gu He couldn't bear a single day or night.
But he had to hold on and protect the Qin family for her.
The hand holding Yun Ran's shoulder couldn't help but increase its strength. Thinking of the day when Qin Qing died, Gu He was overwhelmed by boundless regret.
It's his fault.
If he hadn't been so arrogant and thought he could save her from the kidnappers, and hadn't chosen the infirm Qin Ruo first, Qin Qing wouldn't have died...
Suffocating despair surged up and almost drowned him.
Gu He's eyes were bloodshot, and he lowered his head and kissed Yun Ran fiercely. It was not until the smell of blood filled their intertwined mouths that he felt like he was back in the world.
They are obviously two completely different people, from height to appearance.
But Yun Ran inexplicably gave him a sense of familiarity that only Qin Qing had.
It was this unique "familiarity" that allowed him to grasp the last straw and be reborn.
"Hmm..." In the chaos, the shoulder straps of the dress were pulled off and my skin felt cold.
Gu He forgot where he was and picked up Yun Ran in mid-air.
Just when things were about to get out of control, someone suddenly knocked on the rest room door.
"Brother He, are you in there?" A woman's soft voice sounded, just as harmless as she remembered.
Gu He, who had already lost his mind, calmed down for the first time when he heard this voice. He took a deep breath, carefully put Yun Ran down, tidied her clothes, and then turned to open the door.
The moment the doorknob turned, the mockery that flashed across Yun Ran's face was also covered by the night.
"Brother He, all the guests are here, we..." Qin Ruo's words stopped abruptly. Seeing Yun Ran standing in the lounge, the gentleness on her face was almost torn apart, revealing a strange distortion.
Yun Ran was at her ease, admiring the way her usually pretentious face suddenly changed color. She curled her lips in a "friendly" manner, "Happy birthday, Miss Qin."
Qin Ruo almost couldn't hold back her expression and forced a smile: "Thank you."
After saying that, he went to pull Gu He's hand: "Brother He, it's about to start, mom and dad are waiting for you."
Gu He frowned, hesitated for a moment, and looked back at Yun Ran: "Go eat something first, I'll come find you later."
Then he followed Qin Ruo downstairs.
Yun Ran ignored Qin Ruo's fearful and warning look, watched the two of them leave indifferently, patted her skirt, and walked towards the door.
As my hand touched the door handle, a slight clicking sound of a wheelchair turning was heard.
Yun Ran paused, lowered his eyes, and the man's gloomy and fierce face appeared before him.
Li Ting controlled the wheelchair and slowly approached, staring at Yun Ran with eyes as cold as ice.
Yun Ran's eyes flickered slightly, and he nodded and greeted, "Mr. Li."
The wheelchair turned into the door.
With a click, the lounge was locked again. Li Ting said nothing and maneuvered his wheelchair to stop right in front of Yun Ran.
