Hunting and feeding
This is a one-sided hunting game.
Jiang Jingyuan was trapped in this ice cellar for a long time, keeping his mind tense, waiting for the sudden attack from the elusive ghosts when darkness came.
Looking at the hideous face that was getting bigger and bigger in his field of vision, Jiang Jingyuan felt anxious and subconsciously dodged to the side.
Maybe it was because it was hard to see clearly in the dark, but Jiang Jingyuan felt that all these faces looked the same - not ugly, but seeing the same resemblance on these things made people feel weird and scary, and the more they looked, the creepier they felt.
However, when she turned around, she was faced with a face hidden in the darkness.
The delicate nose of the human face almost touched her nose when she turned around. The goblin stood up straight with its arms hunched and its legs slightly bent. It grinned at her, revealing its sharp teeth and bit down on her nose.
The sudden, close-range attack caused Jiang Jingyuan's mind to go blank for a moment. He had no time to think at all, and he retreated rapidly relying solely on his body's instincts...
When she remembered that she couldn't follow their rhythm and gripped the long sword tightly to change her position, Jiang Jingyuan suddenly felt a chill on her ankle.
A slender hand as if made of ice suddenly grabbed her left foot, and the cold air penetrated into her bones. The speed was so fast that it only took a few seconds, but so slow that she could feel every bit of penetration.
The hand was as soft as a catkin, delicate to the touch and not rough. It seemed like it could be easily shaken off, but Jiang Jingyuan's left foot seemed to be stuck in the mud and could not be lifted at all. The harder he tried, the faster he sank.
A soft animal howl was heard in the darkness, thin and not sharp, as if it was mocking someone.
Jiang Jingyuan's heart seemed to be ruthlessly grasped and squeezed by a hand in an instant, and his breathing involuntarily stopped.
She didn't look back, but forced herself to suppress the struggle of her left foot. She didn't try to shake off the soft hand anymore. Instead, she found the right angle and kicked hard!
He gathered most of his strength and kicked directly into a person's face. The tip of the shoe dug into one of the person's eyes and embedded itself deeply.
With a painful howl, the dark green eye burst open, and fluorescent dark green liquid exploded and dripped onto the ground. A strong stench filled the darkness.
The ghost behind him screamed, loosened his grip on Jiang Jingyuan's ankle, and instead held it loosely around his eyes.
It retreated cautiously, but Jiang Jingyuan was one step ahead of it and fiercely retracted his left foot.
With a "puff", dark green blood splashed in the darkness—
Suddenly, dense "hissing" sounds were heard in the darkness, and black shadows lay on the ground, quickly retreating away from Jiang Jingyuan's position, as if they were afraid of something.
Jiang Jingyuan was stunned.
Could it be that these ghosts only bully the weak and fear the strong? ? ?
Jiang Jingyuan doesn't think so.
No matter how cowardly you are, you should wait until she kills a few ghosts before you get scared. She just poked out one of the ghost's eyes.
Jiang Jingyuan lowered his eyes and his gaze fell on the liquid on his shoes. The dark green liquid glowed in the darkness, like a guiding light, which lasted for a long time.
"Are you afraid of the blood?"
"Then let's kill one and see." She thought calmly.
Jiang Jingyuan raised his eyes, his gaze fixed on a dark shadow not far away.
The black shadow kept retreating, but its slow crawling speed still revealed its unwillingness.
Seeing the girl in front of it stopped where she was, not knowing what she was thinking, it also stopped retreating, hesitated for a moment, and finally tentatively stretched out its human-like forelimbs and tentatively crawled forward a short distance.
The girl in white, who was particularly conspicuous in the dark environment, did not make any expression, as if she was still lost in thought and did not notice its actions. It immediately raised its head and cried out, as if calling its companions.
The other shadows began to stir, but they still howled at each other and hesitated to move forward.
The first ghost turned the head on its neck half a circle and kept yelling at the group of black shadows.
The other humanoid ghosts first cried softly, and then as if they suddenly saw something, they let out a mix of panicked howls, the sounds were light and thin, mixed together in a chaotic mess.
The goblin suddenly turned its head back, its dark green eyes illuminating a section of the long sword's blade—
With a "bang", the head with a human face fell to the ground, rolled twice on the ice, and then stopped moving.
Dark green blood gushed out from its broken end, spilling onto the ground in large pieces, and dark blue flower clusters bloomed in the darkness.
The darkness was quiet for a moment, and then a hissing sound was heard.
The girl in white stabbed the ghost with her long knife, lifted up its body, and walked towards the group of black shadows.
The black shadows immediately scattered like birds and beasts.
“Snap, snap… snap…”
The sound that sounded like a mechanism and burning flames rang out above his head again. Jiang Jingyuan ignored it and followed one of the black shadows closely, wanting to see how they disappeared.
This black shadow followed one of its companions and crawled rapidly in one direction with a very clear goal. When it crawled to a certain place, it suddenly seemed to crawl into a cave and disappeared in a flash.
A blue light, dimmer than before, lit up.
Jiang Jingyuan looked around and found that the ice cellars around him were empty.
She glanced around.
After pondering for a moment, she suddenly caught a glimpse of a strange aqua blue color out of the corner of her eye. Jiang Jingyuan's eyes widened slightly, and her heart stopped for a moment and then started beating rapidly again.
In the ice cellar shrouded in a faint blue light, a water-blue spiritual rope floated loosely in mid-air. One end was tied to her left wrist, and the other extended into the air. From a certain point, it suddenly disappeared in mid-air.
This is a very strange scene.
Jiang Jingyuan's heart was pounding and she couldn't calm down. She thanked Hua Simiao for her sponsorship in secret with an expressionless face.
The spiritual rope cannot tie two people together, but it can take her away from this broken place - the spiritual rope is good.
Jiang Jingyuan held the aqua-blue spirit rope in one hand, walked to the place where the spirit rope disappeared, and extended the long sword in his right hand forward.
But surprisingly, the long sword was not swallowed by the void. It passed the area where the spirit rope disappeared intact and appeared in the air above the ice cellar.
Jiang Jingyuan sheathed his long sword and, without attempting anything himself, slowly walked around the ice cellar, holding the spirit rope. The back half of the aqua-blue spirit rope, made entirely of energy, would sometimes vanish in mid-air, sometimes extending and passing through the ice wall.
Jiang Jingyuan memorized the locations where the spirit ropes disappeared out of thin air, and his expression gradually became strange.
This ice cellar has been pierced like a sieve, right?!
She had been wondering how those ghosts could avoid her spiritual sense. It turned out that there were entrances and exits all around her...
The next moment, Jiang Jingyuan's expression returned to calm.
"Speaking of which, the design of this ice cellar is indeed very strange."
"It looks like it's imprisoning these monsters, but it also allows them to travel through space very conveniently—"
It was like feeding her, and the sad truth was, she was the food.
Jiang Jingyuan couldn't help but wonder if this was the path to the place where the magical artifact was born. The things she encountered along the way were becoming more and more bizarre!
Is this... is this really a legitimate magical weapon? ! !
Jiang Jingyuan didn't think any more and walked into the space where the back half of the spirit rope disappeared, holding the spirit rope.
but……
Jiang Jingyuan looked at the ice wall in front of her. She was still in this square ice cellar space.
It seemed as if she had really become food.
"Is there a rule that 'food cannot pass through space cracks'?" Jiang Jingyuan was surprised, but his face remained calm.
No, no, no, that shouldn't be the reason.
Unless there was some standard for judgment, how could she be considered food by an inanimate ice cellar?
This standard should not be different for any species - after all, this is the realm of immortal arts and metaphysics, not the realm of later technology.
The blue light from above suddenly became a little gray.
Jiang Jingyuan's mind raced, "Those ghosts can't just travel through space at will all the time... Besides being afraid of blue light, is it because they can only pass through space cracks in darkness?"
Thinking of this, Jiang Jingyuan seemed to remember something and turned to look at the place where the ghost's body was previously discarded.
"Speaking of which, what will happen when these ghosts appear under the blue light?" Jiang Jingyuan was a little curious.
But after she turned her head, she no longer wanted to be curious.
The scene before her eyes made her scalp tingle——
The headless humanoid corpse lay limply on the ice ground, its abdomen bulging against the ice, growing larger and larger at a speed visible to the naked eye...
"puff--"
The round belly of the headless corpse finally exploded as if it could no longer bear the pressure, and black water with a foul smell splashed onto the ice surface, gathering into a large pool of blood.
In the pool of blood, a human-shaped baby was brought out by the flowing black water. Its black hair, as sticky as fetal hair, was wet and stuck to its scalp. It had a human body and face, but a thin, hairless tail behind it.
As soon as it appeared under the blue light, it suddenly let out a shrill, cat-like cry. The cry continued without stopping at first, then gradually became weaker and soon died down...
Then……
Jiang Jingyuan's pupils trembled.
She saw the human-shaped baby's belly swell rapidly.
"Puff—crash—"
The baby's abdomen burst open, and the foul-smelling black water brought out a smaller human-sized baby... The same process repeated...
Rebirth and death cycled one after another. The pool of black blood in the ice cellar grew larger and larger, and the stench filled the entire square ice cellar.
Jiang Jingyuan's heart trembled violently, he clenched his hands, and forced himself to calm down.
"...Why is it black water?" An idea finally emerged in her mind.
Instantly, she completely calmed down, as if someone had poured a bucket of cold water over her head. "Yes, when she died, and for a while afterward, the liquid that flowed out was a glowing green liquid. How come it's turned black now?"
Jiang Jingyuan turned his gaze to the fallen head, from which black water continued to flow.
For a moment, Jiang Jingyuan's thoughts flashed through her mind rapidly. She seemed to realize something, but she couldn't grasp a definite answer.
Just when she was unconsciously feeling anxious, the lights went out.
In the darkness, an earth-shattering, inhuman roar erupted from the ice cellar.
Jiang Jingyuan ignored him, turned around and ran straight towards the nearest space crack!
