Jiang Yunshu and Jiang Jingyuan
In a dream.
Jiang Yunshu was in a daze, dreaming about the past, a long, long time ago.
Warm golden sunlight shone through the floor-to-ceiling windows onto the floor inside the room. She sat in her little nest, most of her body hidden in the gray shadows behind the partition, and the book open on her knees was made white by the sunlight.
She held milk in one hand and a bird doll that was almost as tall as herself in the other, reading a book quietly.
——What was she thinking at that time?
In a daze, it seemed as if my soul traveled through time and space and resided in a five-year-old child reading a book.
Fifteen-year-old Jiang Yunshu didn't think about anything.
Very peaceful, very... reassuring.
There are no more chaotic thoughts clogging up my mind, and the heart hidden in my flesh and bones no longer radiates fear and anxiety.
It was very gentle and comfortable, as if the whole person was immersed in warm water, and the gentle water dissolved all fatigue and vigilance.
It made her really relax.
It was not until this moment that Jiang Yunshu suddenly realized something, and he thought slowly that when people are tense for too long, they can't even relax under their own control.
When people are in dreams, their memories are always vague. Jiang Yunshu couldn't even remember what he remembered and what he didn't remember. Everything was hazy, but it didn't make people feel panic at all.
She abandoned everything and obediently followed her dream and her former self, walking through this ordinary afternoon, reading calmly in the golden and warm sunshine.
There is no ripple in my heart.
At the end of the dream, Jiang Yunshu pulled himself out of the five-year-old self in the dream, and his soul floated invisibly in the air, as if using a God's perspective, quietly gazing at the five-year-old self by the floor-to-ceiling window...
In the bright golden sunshine, the dream woke up.
Jiang Yunshu lay flat on his back, looking up at the sky. He blinked slowly, sat up, and was unconsciously in a daze.
Sometimes he recalled the golden afternoon in his dream just now, and sometimes he recalled the bright white sunshine in the near-death dream in the past. Jiang Yunshu's usually calm and indifferent face rarely showed a clear trance.
Can dreams last a little longer?
Over the years, the more she wanted to dream of that bright white sunshine, the less likely she was to see it.
Over the years, her dreams were filled with absurdity and weirdness. She felt tired when awake and panicked and frightened when dreaming.
She hadn't had a peaceful dream for many years. Only when she was awake would she recall that dream over and over again, which comforted her.
…………
A month later.
early morning.
"Miss Yunshu, the head of the family wants you to come over." Someone knocked on the door and said.
The tightly closed door opened, and a girl in a white robe walked out slowly, nodding slightly at the newcomer, "Let's go."
In the lounge.
The person leading the way raised his hand and knocked on the open door.
Jiang Yunshu stood at the door, raised his eyes and glanced inside, just in time to meet a pair of dark eyes turning towards him.
The Jiang family's patriarch had already been waiting on the sofa. Upon hearing the noise, he turned around and nodded to Jiang Yunshu with a smile, "Xiao Shu, come here."
Jiang Yunshu stepped inside.
The person leading the way stepped back silently and closed the door.
After Jiang Yunshu stood still in front of him, the Jiang family patriarch looked her over carefully and asked in a gentle voice, "How have you been resting these days? Are you feeling uncomfortable?"
Jiang Yunshu glanced at him when he heard this.
"How have you rested these days?" This can be asking about her physical condition, or it can be a reminder to her and ask her how she has reflected on herself these days.
"Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?" He was indeed asking about his physical condition.
The very young man in front of her had soft eyebrows and looked at her with concern.
Based on Jiang Yunshu's understanding over the years, if the head of the family wanted to teach her a lesson, no matter how gentle he was, he would not be so roundabout and unpredictable.
Since he was gentle, he would first gently explain the right and wrong and the reason of the previous incident to comfort her, and then ask her if she had any grievances, so as to naturally let her talk about her reflections over the past few days.
That can only be taken literally.
"Yeah, everything is fine." Jiang Yunshu collected his thoughts and answered.
As soon as she said this, the young man in front of her looked at her with a look of condemnation and tenderness. "How come everything is fine now? Did you cough up blood yesterday?"
Jiang Yunshu paused and looked at him calmly. He didn't feel any emotion at all because of his revelation, and he just said "hmm" without any reaction on his face.
"Do you want someone to check it out? Where does it hurt?" asked the Jiang family patriarch worriedly.
Jiang Yunshu shook his head slightly, "It might be the mark of the Teng Snake."
The Jiang family patriarch showed a thoughtful look on his face. After a few seconds, he nodded and said, "Yes, the mark of the Teng Snake is still on you after all. It will still have an impact on you from the past to the future."
Jiang Yunshu nodded silently.
So what they said before was right. The "Teng Snake" mark has always been very resource-intensive. Once those supplements and nourishing resources are cut off, she will become like this -
The damage she had done in the past was too severe for her to feel, but she knew that her body was now like porcelain covered in cracks, trembling and ready to shatter at any moment.
And that so-called medicine - no one knew where the Jiang family got it from. Even though she was vomiting blood now, she still didn't feel anything.
The head of the Jiang family looked at her, and the gentle smile on his face faded. This child was really born with a cold and distant feeling.
Trust gained through years of nurturing can be extinguished in an instant.
She had cultivated her trust and dependence on him over the years. If he changed overnight, she would be sad and would throw him into the stranger list without hesitation and never let him out.
She wouldn't listen to any explanations or considerations - why would she waste time listening to a stranger's meaningless nonsense?
She cannot tolerate distrust from those close to her.
Those who don't trust her are not worthy of being her friends and close friends, and are not worthy of her time and attention.
No matter how hard she tried in the past ten years, her temperament only became more eccentric. As for her unconscious arrogance, it could not be eliminated and instead became more extreme.
The Jiang family patriarch closed his eyes, opened them, and looked at the girl in front of him tenderly, "Xiao Shu, go with them to train tomorrow."
Jiang Yunshu looked at him.
"You will eventually learn to control the 'Teng Snake' mark, won't you?" The smile on the face of the Jiang family patriarch widened. He stared into her dark eyes that no light could penetrate, and spoke slowly, word by word.
"Xiao Shu, your current body will not last long. Let us... find a way to survive." The head of the Jiang family tilted his head slightly and smiled.
In front of her, the girl had an indifferent expression on her face. She blinked her eyelashes slowly and said slowly, "I'll listen to you."
The Jiang family's patriarch's smile remained unchanged as he uttered three words slowly and calmly:
"Jiang Jingyuan."
Jiang Yunshu's heart suddenly skipped a beat and then started beating rapidly again.
Blood rushed to his body, and his ears gurgled. Jiang Yunshu tried his best to keep a straight face, not revealing any emotion. In a clear and calm voice, he asked, "Who is that?"
The young man raised his hand and gestured forward.
Jiang Yunshu turned around.
There was a computer on the table in front of the sofa. A white light was on the screen, and dense black characters were written on it.
"Jiang Jingyuan, the younger sister of Jiang Jingjian, the tyrannical ruler of the ancient Yuan Kingdom. I want you to travel back in time and become her."
The voice of the Jiang family head sounded behind him.
Amidst the rustling noises, the young man stood up, walked to the computer, looked at Jiang Yunshu and asked with a smile, "Do you know the Blood Seal?"
Jiang Yunshu paused.
"The Blood Seal, a gift from heaven that appeared approximately five thousand years ago, triggered a century-long conflict. It was later seized by Emperor Huan of Yuan State and became the nation's national treasure...
"Finally, it disappeared during a historical rift—presumably a catastrophe of the times—and never appeared again."
The Jiang family patriarch then explained:
"Your Teng Snake Mark is clearly damaged. Comparing the records and materials that have been passed down, the Jiang family and I believe it's related to the Blood Seal. Obtaining the Blood Seal might resolve the Teng Snake Mark's shortcomings."
He looked at the girl in front of him and said:
"You know, many ancient spells, secrets, and instruments have disappeared by now, and what we have learned and used are just the basics.
"Something that we can't explain or solve nowadays might have been solved by people in the past."
Go to the past, get the blood seal and fix the incomplete "Teng Snake" mark.
Even if the blood seal cannot solve the problem, she has a new body and more time, and can find a solution in the most colorful era.
Before that, she had to learn to use her only means of saving her life.
Jiang Yunshu understood.
The girl had a calm and indifferent expression on her face. She blinked her eyes, as if ignorant and obedient. She nodded and said, "Okay."
The head of the Jiang family curled his lips.
He looked at the girl in front of him, his heart softened instantly, and he raised his hand to touch her head.
Jiang Yunshu blinked his drooping eyelashes rapidly, and he moved his feet and was about to step back.
The next moment, a hand suddenly pressed down on her right shoulder.
He pressed her hard, pinning her to the spot.
Jiang Yunshu's heart suddenly tightened. She lowered her head, and her drooping pupils trembled slightly.
The other hand rested on the top of her head and touched it lovingly.
Above his head, the Jiang family's patriarch's gentle and emotional voice rang out: "Xiao Shu, you are such a good boy, such an obedient child..."
Jiang Yunshu felt cold all over.
She caught a glimpse of the dense black words on the computer screen. She gritted her teeth, pursed her lips, and tried not to show any emotion on her face. She stood firmly in place without shaking.
In the quiet lounge, the Jiang family's Patriarch narrowed his eyes, a smile on his lips, one hand on her shoulder, the other stroking her head...
Once, once...
If you don't make good use of your luck when you are lucky, it will only backfire on you in the future.
This child is both delicate and proud, yet also wild and untamable. She needs to be coaxed and comforted, but also suppressed and repressed… The Jiang family patriarch raised his lips slightly, put his arm around her shoulders, lowered his head and whispered softly:
"Xiao Shu, there's an honored guest waiting for you. Go meet him, then walk around and get some fresh air. You'll go for training tomorrow morning."
Jiang Yunshu lowered his head, his pupils trembling, his lips twitching for a moment, and then he slowly opened his mouth: "Okay."
The Jiang family patriarch patted her shoulder gently, withdrew his hand, stepped back, and said with a smile: "Go."
Almost as soon as he finished speaking, the door of the lounge opened and a man was waiting quietly outside.
Jiang Yunshu lowered his eyes, said "hmm", turned around, and walked slowly towards the door.
The gentle, smiling gaze that fell on her back disappeared as she turned the corner.
Jiang Yunshu's mind was in a mess. He seemed to be thinking about a lot of things, but also seemed to be thinking about nothing.
She followed the person in front of her step by step.
There was a knock on the open door in front.
The guide bent down and whispered something in his ear, and Jiang Yunshu suddenly came back to his senses.
She subconsciously looked up, walked into the reception room, and her eyes caught sight of two figures inside.
