What's going on?! Wasn't she resting at the post station?!

Jiang Jingyuan was shocked.

When she opened her eyes, the first thing she felt was the soreness in them. She tried to keep her eyes wide open, but big tears blurred her vision, and it was dark.

The cold wind blew, and her tear-stained face felt as painful as if it were cut by a knife.

It was so cold that Jiang Jingyuan's entire body was icy cold, almost numb from the chill. She very slowly raised her trembling right hand to touch her face, trying to wipe away the tears that had inexplicably flowed down her face.

But as soon as her slightly trembling fingertips touched her face, tears as big as beans rolled down and hit the back of her hand.

Why... is she crying?

Is she sad?

Are you sad?

Jiang Jingyuan was stunned, tears welling up in his eyes, as if he was trapped in some kind of extremely sad and painful emotional quagmire...

But she didn't.

Her heart was beating steadily. Jiang Jingyuan knew clearly that she didn't have a single trace of sadness in her heart. She was very calm, but within her calm was a hint of confusion.

If that's the case, why would she cry?

In her vision blurred and distorted by tears, Jiang Jingyuan felt as if she had been keeping her head down. When she came to her senses, she saw the hem of her plain white skirt scattered and overlapped on the gray-white stone ground.

What she didn't feel, as her senses were being eroded by the cold, was that she was kneeling alone on the stone ground, with her hands on the ground. She didn't even notice the sand and stones on the ground poking her palms, as if she was guarding a dim light for a long time in the eternal darkness.

The light was dim and yellow, evoking the image of a setting sun or an old man nearing the end of his life. But in this darkness, it was the only light, weak and dying, trembling and supporting the darkness.

What is going on? ! !

How could I be here... Jiang Jingyuan's heart suddenly started beating rapidly. She wanted to open her eyes, but her swollen eyes were always half closed. She couldn't open them completely, nor could she close her eyes to rest for a moment.

Her heartbeats exploded in her ears and cold sweat slid down her back. Jiang Jingyuan suppressed her panic, supported herself on the ground with her hands, and tried to stand up with difficulty. Perhaps it was because she had been kneeling in the cold for too long. She tried several times before she slowly stood up, and her weak steps staggered twice.

Although her senses had not yet recovered, she did not dare to stay for too long. She bent down, reached out and picked up the lamp on the ground. Jiang Jingyuan walked slowly to illuminate the surroundings and slowly warm up her limbs.

She wondered why she suddenly appeared in this cold darkness when she was supposed to be resting in the inn.

This was not an illusion, she knew that when she woke up.

So, who is it?

Who has the ability to take her away without anyone noticing?

The orange-yellow firelight should have been a warm color, but in the darkness filled with gusts of cold wind, it revealed an indescribable sense of weirdness and horror.

Everything was silent, even the flickering lights were silent, as if all sound had been robbed, or perhaps...

Is she deaf…?

In the quiet darkness, it was a strange feeling. As Jiang Jingyuan walked, her heartbeat grew increasingly frantic, and she even unconsciously held her breath. She felt as if something was following her, quietly hiding behind her, waiting to suddenly burst forth and devour her, to replace her.

When she moves, it moves too; when she stops, it stops too...

Jiang Jingyuan turned around suddenly, but there was nothing behind him.

With a strong sense of uneasiness and fear, Jiang Jingyuan tried hard to raise her eyes. With the help of the firelight, she saw the environment she was in.

It was an empty, somewhat shabby room, almost a thatched hut. Jiang Jingyuan walked over to the only stone bed in the room and peered over. There was only a stone pillow and a straw mat on the bed, dust-free, yet so shabby and cold it looked like someone's place of asceticism.

Where on earth is this... Jiang Jingyuan felt that the situation was becoming increasingly strange. The truth behind her sudden appearance here might not have anything to do with anyone. After all...

Until now, tears are still flowing from her eyes.

Big, hot tears rolled down, either staying on the face or hanging on the chin, about to fall off. In just a moment, everything turned cold.

The cold wind blew, invisible and silent, leaving no trace. Yet, it stretched out an icy hand, teasingly climbing up her back, lingering at the back of her neck, stroking it for a moment, then gently extending its five fingers...

He immediately grabbed her neck!

“!!!”

The orange light flickered suddenly, and the girl in white turned around abruptly, but there was nothing behind her, only the endless darkness swaying with the firelight.

The flickering lights returned to calm. Jiang Jingyuan stood there motionless for a moment, then walked towards the open door in front of him with the lamp in hand.

Was there a door here before...

Doubts arose in his mind, but Jiang Jingyuan didn't even stop and walked straight out of the door.

The pale moonlight illuminated the gloomy night sky.

Jiang Jingyuan stood in a courtyard covered with white curtains, her white dress swaying lightly, as if she had merged with the courtyard. She was like a legendary ghost that silently revealed its figure under the moon.

Quiet, eerie and terrifying.

Everything was silent, the blood in her body was rushing up, and Jiang Jingyuan's ears were filled with the gurgling sound of blood flowing and the thumping sound of her rapid heartbeat. She stood in the dark, feeling cold all over as if she had fallen into an icy cave.

In the gloomy night, in front of her, an orange fire lit up in a main room, and the swaying firelight waved to her silently.

Jiang Jingyuan walked towards it, the orange light in his hand swaying silently, as if responding to something.

The door of the main hall was opened at some point, and Jiang Jingyuan stood in front of the door, as if facing some ferocious beast. The beast opened its bloody mouth, and its malicious gaze was fixed on the girl in white in front of it. It was drooling, but it suppressed its madness and waited quietly for its prey to walk into its mouth.

Jiang Jingyuan walked in.

She had no other way out.

After crossing the threshold and entering the main hall, Jiang Jingyuan was faced with the tablet placed on the incense table in front of her. Suddenly, her eyes seemed to be stung and her tears flowed even more violently.

Jiang Jingyuan stumbled back two steps, and her back suddenly bumped into something hard. Startled, she subconsciously took two steps back and turned around to see the closed wooden door behind her.

The greedy beast finally couldn't wait to close its teeth, chewing and swallowing excitedly, wanting to eat the long-awaited prey.

Jiang Jingyuan turned back warily, and only then did she discover a heavy black coffin in the hall.

There were candles on the incense table, and together with the lamp in Jiang Jingyuan's hand, they illuminated the entire hall. Jiang Jingyuan stood in the dim light with tears streaming down her face, but her heart was shocked.

She had a vague guess, but found it too unbelievable.

As she thought about this, the young woman in white in the mourning hall, holding a lantern, walked straight towards the memorial tablet on the table like a ghost. She bent down and lowered her head to get closer to the memorial tablet, her eyes wide open, trying to read the intricate calligraphy through the tears.

Jiang Jingyuan felt like she was about to cry herself blind in this hellish place! She didn't want to go out with watery eyes and face everyone's surprise and questions...

She needs to leave here as soon as possible!

After all, she had no idea what was happening inside the inn, nor did she know if anyone else had noticed she'd disappeared. The thought of the potential problems her disappearance would cause gave her a headache. Things were different now, and this wasn't something she could handle easily.

After staring at the words on the memorial tablet for a long time and trying to decipher them, Jiang Jingyuan calmed down and slowly straightened up.

As soon as the thought flashed through her mind, the orange candle flame in front of her was stretched, and an invisible wind suddenly appeared out of thin air in the mourning hall.

Jiang Jingyuan suddenly clenched the lamp in his hand, turned his head and looked around.

However, she wandered around the silent mourning hall like a midnight ghost for several times. The dim mourning hall was always quiet and empty, even the most suspicious black and terrifying coffin was quietly placed in its place...

For a long time, no attack came.

She was the only one moving around in the mourning hall.

The flickering candlelight, the invisible wind that appeared out of nowhere, everything seemed to be just an illusion caused by her nervousness.

Jiang Jingyuan tried hard to calm herself down. Perhaps she was just too nervous. In fact, evil spirits weren't everywhere.

Exhaling silently, Jiang Jingyuan turned around and looked at the tablet on the incense table again.

As soon as she raised her eyes, the girl in white suddenly jumped up like a cat whose tail was stepped on, and retreated with her fur standing on end, staring at the old and skinny face behind the spirit tablet.

The old and skinny face opened its mouth and stretched out its long scarlet tongue, licking the spirit tablet again and again. The dry tip of the tongue scraped against the surface of the wood, making a terrifying sound that made one's hair stand on end. It was as if someone was sharpening Jiang Jingyuan's ears with a blunt knife, making him feel irritated and uneasy. He wanted to bang his head against the wall to relieve the irritability and pain in his heart.

The facial features of Jiang Jingyuan were twisted in pain, and the tears flowing from his narrowed eyes seemed to be somewhat real at this moment. In his blurred and distorted vision, Jiang Jingyuan saw a black shadow rushing towards him ferociously with fangs and claws!

Jiang Jingyuan's swollen eyes made it impossible to see clearly or catch the shadow, whether it was an illusion or a real one. She tried to step back in panic but almost tripped herself. In a hurry, she grabbed the silver sachet at her waist.

The black shadow in front of her was getting bigger and bigger, as if it was overwhelming her. However, the silver sachet in Jiang Jingyuan's hand was like an ordinary object, motionless and without any response to her!

It was only then that Jiang Jingyuan realized that her connection with this magical weapon had been severed...

How is that possible?!

How is this possible!!!

What on earth is this place? Why can it cut off the connection between her and the magical weapon? ! !

The blurred vision, the sudden danger, and the inexplicable loss of support caused Jiang Jingyuan to panic for a moment. He hurriedly released his spiritual sense, but it was too late to save the situation.

A resentful gaze was fixed on her. The huge black shadow, which seemed to be a solid entity yet just an invisible phantom, had a ferocious face, as if it had some deep hatred. It stared at her, and its human-like facial features were distorted by a crazy and morbid grin.

It laughed silently, and like a flood, it instantly submerged the girl in white who was shrouded in shadows.

The orange light "clacked" to the ground, and it seemed as if the whole house was shaking violently because of its crazy laughter.

It wants to tear her apart and eat her!!!
