Another car accident

Another car accident

The car window was rolled down a tiny crack, and Mo Yang leaned against the window, letting the wind blow his hair to one side as the car moved in the direction it was going.

Returning to the city and seeing the night view again made Mo Yang feel somewhat intoxicated, whether it was the cold winter wind that made him a little tipsy or the beer he had just drunk.

Mo Yang pressed his head tightly against the car window, seemingly oblivious to the passage of time. He didn't know how much time had passed when the car rounded another bend. His mind was still churning the structure of the 50x30x30mm driftwood frame when his cell phone rang at just the right moment.

Mo Yang picked it up and glanced at it; it was Fan Siwen's name.

This was given to him by Fan Siwen the night before he escaped from the base.

And this is the first time it has appeared on my phone.

Mo Yang picked up his phone, sat up straight, and pressed the answer button.

"What's wrong? Why are you calling?"

The other party had no time to react; their voice seemed to pierce through the phone's barrier and rush straight at you.

"Professor Song, Mo Yang has been hit by a car!"

"..."

Mo Yang was silent for half a minute, then asked urgently, "Where are you... Okay, I'm coming right now." Before he could hang up, he had already started talking to the driver, "We're not going back to the military region, we're going to Shang P Hospital."

As soon as the car stopped, before it had even come to a complete stop, Mo Yang rushed out and headed straight for the emergency center.

Upon reaching the entrance, Mo Yang saw Fan Siwen waiting on a bench near the emergency sign, and his steps became much heavier.

"What happened?"

Fan Siwen looked up and saw Mo Yang. She immediately hugged him. Her bright, watery eyes, which had just been looking aggrieved, suddenly filled with tears, which fell down in a steady stream.

“Professor Song… I don’t know either… We were walking on the road… when a car suddenly came from behind… Mo Yang protected Chen Lili… and pushed her away… and then… and then he fell to the ground…”

Where is Chen Lili?

After listening to what he said, it became clear that Mo Yang was more concerned about the other person's injury.

"She only had minor superficial injuries, and they were being bandaged..."

Mo Yang let out a long breath.

He propped himself up and sat down, his gaze fixed on the inside.

"How long have you been inside? What did the doctor say?"

"I don't know...I don't know...People keep going in, but no one says what happened..."

Judging from the person in front of me, they seem to be quite terrified.

Mo Yang reached out to the man reassuringly, "It's alright, it's alright, everything will be alright." He gently placed his hand on the man's shoulder and looked down at the floor.

"Have you called the police? Has the driver been caught?"

At this point, the man's sobs grew louder. "No...we called an ambulance immediately...we haven't called the police yet...after hitting the person...we just ran away..."

As Fan Siwen recounted the ins and outs of the story, Mo Yang's eyes grew even deeper.

"That license plate number..."

After thinking for a moment, Mo Yang didn't ask any further questions.

The incident was urgent and sudden, leaving Mo Yang at a loss for what to do.

After a long while, only two people remained anxiously waiting in the corridor.

"Tell me about Fan Siwen's future."

Mo Yang broke the somber atmosphere and, seeing the person beside him with swollen eyes from crying, he couldn't bear to watch him cry any longer.

“In the future…in the future he deciphered the plot of your development here, he told me the plot…but I…but I didn’t see this scene appear.”

"Then tell me what you know?"

“I know…” Fan Siwen paused as she spoke, seemingly recalling something, or perhaps looking somewhat troubled.

After a long while, Fan Siwen suddenly seemed to realize something, staring intently at Mo Yang, "Everything that's happening now is beyond my comprehension... How could this be... I clearly saw so far away... How could it all be gone..."

Judging from Fan Siwen's expression, she was not only terrified, but also somewhat incredulous.

"Could it be that you changed the course of events?"

Fan Siwen couldn't hear a single word at that moment, completely lost in inexplicable emotions.

"professor."

Mo Yang raised his head upon hearing the sound.

As their eyes met, Mo Yang watched the girl walk towards him with a slight limp, but her steady posture made him feel as if he were witnessing a new life.

He quickly stood up and offered Chen Lili a seat.

Only after the person in front of him sat down did he cautiously ask the question.

"How are you feeling? What did the doctor say?"

The tone of his voice was soft, as if he were afraid that even the slightest sound would frighten her.

"The doctor said it was just a sprain, and that I should keep applying the medicine and it would be fine."

"That's good, that's good."

Mo Yang's reaction to these words wasn't exactly positive, but it clearly contained a lot of extra emotions.

The emergency room door was pushed open.

Mo Yang and Fan Siwen rushed forward.

They surrounded the people in front of them.

"Doctor, how is she?"

"The person inside is out of danger, and I have urgent business to attend to." With that, the doctor escaped his restraints and hurried away.

Seeing that their hopes had been dashed again, the two of them sat back down in their chairs, feeling utterly dejected.

Another long wait ensued, until the lights inside went out before the person was wheeled out.

"The patient was brought in very timely. He had a broken rib and some minor fluid buildup in other areas, which has already been drained. The patient is temporarily out of danger, but we must not let our guard down. The next 24 hours are critical. If you have any questions, please contact the doctor directly."

It sounds like good news, but it's not entirely acceptable news.

Following the person in bed to the ward, Mo Yang instructed the two to stay by the bedside while he went to the medical station to pay the fees.

Having completed all the formalities, Mo Yang was somewhat unwilling to give up.

I used the map to navigate to the nearest police station.

He explained the cause of the incident in detail. After monitoring all the traffic on the city's roads, no violations by vehicles or any unexpected events at the scene of the accident were found.

Just like back then.

As he walked out of the police station, Mo Yang's jacket zipper was still open. A cold wind swept over him, but even so, he seemed completely unfazed.

The situation was exactly the same, except this time, the person lying in bed was Mo Yang.

Although the doctor told him that his condition was much better than Chen Lili's at the time, Mo Yang dared not relax in the slightest.

He never knew when an irreversible emergency might occur, causing the person in the hospital bed to go from having a glimmer of hope to leaving this world.

He cannot accept this outcome again.

Thinking of this, Mo Yang bought some food and hurriedly rushed back to the hospital.

The two people in the hospital bed still watched over the person in the bed with longing eyes.

Mo Yang carried the bag inside, speaking softly and tiptoeing, "You guys go and rest on the bed over there, I'll watch over you."

The two looked somewhat dejected upon seeing this.

"Eat something first," he said, handing over the bag in his hand. "We just escaped from the desert; we can't let ourselves get hurt here again."

The two looked at each other, then at the person lying on the hospital bed, hesitated, and walked out.

Fan Siwen took the bag, and before leaving, she made an agreement with Song Yize, "We'll take turns guarding it, and I'll relieve you in a bit."

In the ward, the small group had reunited, but this time, their condition was clearly dire.

Mo Yang stared at the person on the bed, not wanting to take his eyes off him for even a second.

I've expressed so many hopes in my heart: I hope he wakes up soon, I hope he's safe and sound, I hope he's healthy, I hope he has no aftereffects, and I hope he can be healthy again.

In the middle of the night, Fan Siwen pushed open the door and walked in.

"How about it?"

He entered the ward and asked Mo Yang.

"Still not awake."

Mo Yang's voice was noticeably hoarse as he spoke.

Fan Siwen handed over a carton of milk and a piece of bread, and sat down next to Mo Yang. "Eat something."

"I'm not hungry yet." The voice was extremely soft, as if the slightest sound would be too soft to wake the person in the hospital bed.

"Don't worry, you can't wake him up. It would be great if we could wake him up."

Fan Siwen looked at the person on the bed as she spoke.

Seeing that the person next to him still didn't move, Fan Siwen stuffed the bread into the person's hand again.

"I'm not hungry."

"I'm not hungry, go ahead and eat. You'll have to get through the night. Eat something and go to sleep first. I'll stay here and keep watch."

Seeing that the man still didn't make any move, Fan Siwen stopped him.

"I'll go to the police station to check the surveillance footage when it gets light."

"No need to go, I've already been there."

What did they say?

"No photos were taken."

"No, does the world have to be like this? In just six months, my perception of the world has completely changed. It's either something hidden behind the scenes that ordinary people can't see, or something that they want you to see."

"That's always been the way the world is."

“But I don’t agree. We have other ways.”

"What method?"

"We can hire a private investigator."

Seeing that Song Yize had no reaction, Fan Siwen added, "Is this beyond your comprehension again?"

This time, Mo Yang replied quickly, "Now that we know the truth, why bother to dwell on it any longer?"

"I've thought about it. No, even if we find out it's just a low-ranking soldier, we have to make them pay the price."

Mo Yang didn't reply to him.

There are many things in this world that he doesn't understand, and they are not open or transparent. Of course, when he wants things to be transparent, no one can see them.

Just like time, they are ethereal and intangible. There are no fixed phrases that can solidify them, so much so that many times, you have no idea at what speed they flow through your brain's sensory system.

In just one night, it felt as if an entire century had passed. The scientists' definition of the reality of theoretical physics has become tangible: time is not absolute, but rather determined relative to the observer's state of motion.

In the morning, I was groggily woken up by someone next to me, who handed me a steaming hot breakfast.

"Eat first." Fan Siwen handed the food to Mo Yang and then opened a bag for herself. "I bought three portions. The doctor said Mo Yang can't eat anything yet."

Mo Yang opened the bag in response.

Inside are two steamed buns, a cup of soy milk, and an egg.

He didn't even know when he fell asleep.

But I don't remember sleeping for very long.

After waiting all morning, the person lying in bed showed no signs of waking up.

The people next to me had already started playing on their phones while waiting.

I've confirmed with the nurses at the station, and it's normal that she hasn't woken up yet.

Mo Yang felt less nervous.

Occasionally glancing out the window at this city that is both strange and somewhat familiar, I always have a bad feeling.

"Professor, look at this!"

For someone who has been out of touch with the outside world for a long time, the first thing they do after getting a phone is to check the latest developments in the world. What is surprising is that Mo Yang saw another version of himself in the phone that Fan Siwen handed him.
