Mo Yang and Chen Lili
The scene inside the laboratory.
The young man had made ample preparations, intending to impress his mentor on his first day of work.
Arriving with great enthusiasm, they discovered their supervisor wasn't in the lab.
Mo Yang watched as Fan Siwen and Mo Yang stared at each other blankly. They each went about their own experiments, working on the research tasks Mo Yang had assigned in the group chat. Meanwhile, Fan Siwen, taking advantage of Mo Yang's absence, openly slacked off.
When it was time for lunch, Fan Siwen asked Mo Yang to go with him to familiarize themselves with the cafeteria.
While walking down the street, the boy bumped into a researcher who was standing nearby without paying attention.
The boy quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, I bumped into you. Are you alright?"
Turning around, I saw a girl in front of me whose appearance, figure, and voice were all exactly what I considered beautiful.
In the short time it took Fan Siwen to reply to a message and come out a step later, she saw Mo Yang and Chen Lili squatting down together, picking up the experimental documents that were scattered all over the floor.
My colleagues in the experimental group, who were originally very compatible, suddenly became less pleasing to the eye.
"What happened? Let me help you." As she spoke, Fan Siwen squatted down, and at the same time, she didn't forget to explain for Mo Yang, "This is my colleague's first day on the job, he's not very familiar with the layout of this place yet, don't blame him! Are you alright? Are you hurt anywhere?"
Fan Siwen's enthusiasm was not only written on her face, but also etched on her forehead.
"It's okay, it's okay." The girl in front of me had a flushed face, but her voice was barely audible, carrying a sweet maple syrup scent.
Looking at the scenery before him, Fan Siwen felt that, in comparison, the scene before him was even more beautiful than the sunset before the evening blues.
"Want to go have lunch together?"
"No, I'll eat with my colleague later."
The girl's soft voice, along with the documents that had just fallen, faded into the distance.
After a long while, Mo Yang was still standing there, gazing at the figure behind him.
Seeing this, Fan Siwen warned, "Let me tell you, don't get any ideas about her. I've heard that she was admitted to Tsinghua University through a special exception because she ranked first in the national physics competition. And she's incredibly arrogant; she doesn't even respect most people. There's a line of men offering to introduce her to potential partners that stretches a kilometer from her house." She then waved her hand dismissively, "It's best to avoid people like that if you can."
Throughout the journey, Fan Siwen observed Mo Yang's thoughts.
Fan Siwen's intentions were clear to everyone; his words had completely blocked any path forward. However, the young man didn't heed his advice. In his mind, if he liked someone, he could get them. The only relevant variables were timing and method, which weren't too difficult to implement.
If you choose the right people and do the right things, you can almost achieve twice the result with half the effort.
Although Mo Yang appeared to be listening attentively to Fan Siwen's ramblings throughout the meal, his mind was already racing with possible operational plans and process planning.
Upon seeing someone come out, Mo Yang quickly hid around the corner, turning his body to the inside and pretending to admire the scenery.
Thankfully, he managed to dodge it. Back in the dorm, he immediately changed his clothes, folded them neatly, and put his ID back in Fan Siwen's pocket. With everything back to normal, Mo Yang dressed again, sat back in his wheelchair, and headed towards the cafeteria.
Fan Siwen saw Mo Yang on the road and quickly ran over.
"You're here? I was just wondering where you were."
"What do you want from me?"
"I came to eat with you. Do you think I'm so unrefined?"
"Oh," Mo Yang replied.
During the meal, Mo Yang casually asked about Mo Yang's day.
To everyone's surprise, Fan Siwen's loudspeaker was incredibly loud. Mo Yang had only asked casually, but now it sounded like he was encouraging the students in the same lab to inform on each other.
After a series of "shhhhh" sounds, Fan Siwen glanced around and finally understood what Mo Yang meant.
"He's not a bad person, it's just that he's a bit of a fangirl and a bit of a simpleton."
"How so?"
While eating, Mo Yang became even more interested in today's story after hearing Fan Siwen's evaluation.
"He doesn't talk much when he's working, but he becomes super alert when he sees Chen Lili. You know what I mean."
"Who is Chen Lili?" Mo Yang asked, picking up a piece of green vegetable with his chopsticks and putting it in his mouth.
"Chen Lili is the girl I met at lunch that day."
Upon hearing this, Mo Yang's face froze.
He actually fell in love with the same girl as me.
After that, Mo Yang could no longer hear what Fan Siwen was saying.
Images of Chen Lili kept replaying in my mind.
If that's the case, then the timeline he traveled to must be of extraordinary significance to him.
He hadn't thought about this issue before, but now that it has happened, he has no choice but to face it.
Since the present version of myself on this timeline chose a different major than the past version of myself, it means that he will lead two different lives.
However, on this timeline, he met Fan Siwen and Chen Lili. Does that mean that their relationship might be similar to his own, or it might be different?
Since his transmigration, Mo Yang has never seriously considered this matter. If it were before, he would have thought that something unresolved and not proven by scientific theory was not worth his time.
However, it now appears that he has proven the existence of this matter through his actions.
In other words, four-dimensional space.
Multiple timelines.
And multiple possibilities exist objectively.
After dinner, Mo Yang tried to strike up a conversation with Fan Siwen to make up for his lapse in concentration during the latter part of the meal.
"Why have you suddenly fallen in love with eating in the cafeteria again? What happened to the person who said they wanted to order takeout before?"
Fan Siwen, who was just angry, suddenly stopped being angry and replied with a smile, "I don't know why, but I feel that the food in the cafeteria doesn't taste so bad anymore. At least it's better than what I ate when I was studying abroad."
"I think you just don't want to pick up your takeout."
Fan Siwen didn't say anything, she just smiled.
Ever since Mo Yang took that winding route that turned what should have been a 100-step journey into a 3000-step journey, he has given up on ordering takeout.
He would never eat it unless he really wanted to.
Back in his dorm room, Mo Yang couldn't sit still; the thoughts in his head were still racing.
Mo Yang went outside for a stroll, and as he walked, he arrived at the door of Chen Lili's laboratory.
Unfortunately, I bumped into someone who came out of the tea room to get water.
"Professor Song."
"Still working so late."
"We added a data entry today, and we can't leave work until it's finished running."
"What time will you finish running?"
The girl was stunned for a moment.
"It should be finished around 9 or 10 o'clock."
Mo Yang walked naturally past the girl, passing right through her, when suddenly a huge sense of loss washed over him.
Mo Yang stood there, holding his phone, and ordered takeout.
I half-walked and half-ran to retrieve it, and it was still warm when I held it in my hand.
Stopping outside Chen Lili's laboratory, Mo Yang stared blankly at several identical packaging bags.
Although I'm not very familiar with it, it has a strong old-fashioned feel to it. I imagine that someone of her age probably shares the same interests.
He knocked on the door and then quickly hid to the side.
I secretly watched as the person inside took the takeout bag inside.
Mo Yang then left cautiously.
On the way back, Mo Yang's mind was filled with the adorable image of Chen Lili eating raw coconut gum taro balls.
"Let me tell you, I'm an expert in this area. I've tried many different brands, and in my opinion as a food connoisseur, this is the best-tasting in the world. Moreover, it's a flavor that you simply can't replicate at home."
Mo Yang's lips curled into a beautiful smile, just as they had when he first heard those words.
The next day, Mo Yang went to the lab in a wheelchair. The reason was that after making full use of his legs all day yesterday, he really needed to use a wheelchair today.
When the boy first saw Mo Yang's wheelchair, he couldn't help but make a judgment about it.
"Professor, your wheelchair is so cool!"
Mo Yang replied irritably, "Thank you."
I wasn't really in the mood for work this morning, but now, thanks to my anger, I'm full of energy.
Although he had a short rest yesterday and was not idle, Mo Yang felt that he could exceed the target for today's plan by 200%.
There could even be more.
After preparing for a full day of hard work, my wonderful day was once again ruined by bad news from Mr. Huang.
Mo Yang was carefully checking the data the two of them had produced yesterday. If there were no major errors in the data, they would soon be able to get the first small result they needed.
Although this was a result that Mo Yang had achieved before, it was still very exciting for him to get this result again.
Not only in this era, but also because of Mo Yang and Fan Siwen.
An inexplicable competition arose between the males.
In the lab as usual, a phone call from Professor Huang shattered the tense atmosphere between the three lab members.
After hanging up the phone, Mo Yang carefully compared the data sent by Elder Huang. To his surprise, the data sent by Elder Huang was extremely similar to the data he had. They were so similar that they seemed like twins. This inevitably raised suspicions.
Mo Yang coughed lightly and called over two people.
Seeing the two people standing around him, Mo Yang finally raised his head again.
"Well, there's something I need to tell you two."
Mo Yang glanced up at Fan Siwen, whose eyes were wide open, and then at Mo Yang, who seemed somewhat confused.
He coughed again to clear his throat.
"The leader just called to say that our experimental data is exactly the same as that in a foreign report, so he wanted to ask for your opinion on this matter."
