Negotiating conditions
When the group saw Fan Siwen at the same time, they all appeared remarkably calm.
Fan Siwen greeted everyone as if nothing had happened.
"Hello, we meet again!"
Faced with the reactions of the others, Fan Siwen looked like a circus clown.
But despite their clown-like behavior, as night fell, the group eventually arrived at the place where Fan Siwen was being held.
"Is there anything you want to say to us?"
Mo Yang stared at the person in front of him for a long time, his voice indifferent, revealing nothing in his tone.
"I brought you some good food back, intending to improve your meals, but the plane was shot down, and the food was on the plane. Perhaps one of you could ask a soldier to help you get it; it should still be edible if you bring it back now."
"Is this what you wanted to say?"
"What else?"
Mo Yang sighed.
Why did you come back?
“I’m already a fugitive, and I can’t go back to the country. I have to be very careful when I go out. Knowing this, I might as well come back and turn myself in to try to get leniency.”
Why did you insist on leaving back then?
"I heard there's an emergency at home. Is that an acceptable excuse?"
"Is there an elderly person in your family who is not feeling well?"
Seeing that the boy in front of her believed her, Fan Siwen suddenly changed her mind and said, "I was just kidding."
Okay, the boy turned around and left. Don't pay any more attention to him.
Seeing the man's state, Mo Yang couldn't bear it and handed him what he was holding. "There's no gourmet food in the desert, but there's something to stave off hunger."
As she spoke, she shoved it into his hand and prepared to leave.
"etc."
Mo Yang turned his head upon hearing the sound, looked at the person in front of him, and waited for him to continue.
"Can you let me out? I want to go to bed."
Before Mo Yang could react, the officer on the other side looked over first.
"Oh, I was just kidding. You guys get a good night's sleep."
Chen Lili looked at the person in front of her and, though she didn't know what he was thinking, still gave him a sympathetic look.
Looking into this person's eyes, the color that had dimmed in the dead of night now seemed somewhat aggressive and unfathomable.
Without saying anything, she turned around and went back to bed.
None of the three of them slept well that night.
It seems to be because of the same thing.
However, the specific reasons vary greatly.
Fan Siwen was taken away from the cave at the bottom of the mountain overnight. Before he could say a proper goodbye to everyone, he was carried away by a group of people.
They saw this person being taken onto the plane, away from everyone's sight.
Mo Yang remained silent as he faced the person in the image.
There must be some unspeakable secret behind Fan Siwen's back and forth. But what exactly that secret is, he thinks he can't possibly figure out right now.
However, given Fan Siwen's personality, knowing he would be taken away, why would he still be willing to come back? What expectations does he have after meeting with the higher-ups?
Things are definitely not as simple as he claims about turning himself in.
Mo Yang asked a young officer for help to search for the "food" that Fan Siwen had mentioned in the desert.
When the person returned with the items, all that remained for Mo Yang was a dried-out state, ravaged by wind and sun. After a moment's hesitation, Mo Yang surprisingly discovered some discernible braised food inside.
This is a rare food in foreign countries.
Mo Yang stared blankly at the pile of things.
What exactly is his mindset, and what is he planning?
After being taken away, Fan Siwen saw the person he wanted to see the moment he landed.
The man was sitting in a wooden rocking chair on one side. When he saw Fan Siwen being brought in, he waved to him.
"Sit down. Xiao Zhang, you can go out first. I'll call you in after I finish talking with Mr. Fan."
The person in front of him nodded in agreement and walked out.
Seeing that only the two of them were left in the room, Fan Siwen scanned the surroundings like a radar before looking at the man again.
"Don't worry, there are no security cameras in my office."
"I hope so."
Seeing this, the elder smiled and said, "Go ahead, what do you want to talk to me about?"
Remembering the text message she had sent earlier, Fan Siwen looked at the person again carefully. "Did you ask me to monitor Mo Yang?"
Upon hearing those two words, the elder in front of me seemed to know what the topic of conversation was about to begin.
“Let’s be frank. What do you want from me, and what do I have to offer you?”
The elder spoke these words slowly and deliberately, yet with a force powerful enough to pierce the heart.
"I want to know which faction you belong to, and whether you are of the same mind as Song Yize."
He still couldn't pronounce Mo Yang's name smoothly.
"Is this what you wanted to see me and say to me in person?"
"Yes, if I choose the wrong person, then all my efforts will be in vain, so I must act with caution."
"Mr. Fan is willing to risk his life for this, which shows that he is a gentleman."
Whether you are a gentleman or not is not important. What is important is what I saw. I saw that you helped Song Yize at the last critical moment.
"Where did you see it? What did you see?"
The elder's reaction to these words clearly exceeded Fan Siwen's expectations.
"Where I saw it is not important. What is important is that I now have the clearance document, but I need to find someone I can entrust it to."
"If you make a judgment about a person based on just a few words, I can't guarantee you'll succeed. But if you have the ability to judge a person's true character based on their words and actions, I can assure you that your chances of success are much greater."
"I think so too. So, I'm planning to try someone else."
Fan Siwen pretended to leave, but the elder didn't stop him. He just sat there and watched his every move with a smile.
"You're not going to stop me?"
"You're with me, why should I stop you? Besides, your choice not to tell me will only be detrimental to you, not to me."
"If I told you that the person who just went out was in mortal danger and was about to die, how would you react?"
The man was clearly stunned.
Fan Siwen noticed the subtle changes in his face.
Seeing this, Fan Siwen sat down again.
“Alright, the test is over, and I’ve decided to trust you. But,” Fan Siwen shifted his posture again, “what I just said is true. If you want to intercept us, you can cooperate with me.”
"How can you know what success is and what is a false lie?"
The person on the recliner remained as steady as a mountain.
"You old man, you're such a pain in the ass. I've already brought you all this way, and you could just snap your fingers and I'd be dead. Why would I lie to you? Seriously."
After saying that, he looked at the man again and said impatiently, "Believe it or not."
The elder hesitated for a moment, then said, "Speak, what do you know?"
He recounted the first part of the story to this person, and the person's eyes were no longer as clear as before; the ruthlessness in them was clearly visible.
"If you stand on my side, I can protect your safety; if you stand on both sides, I can't guarantee it."
"Look at you, old man, you're always doubting this and then that. When will this end? To tell you the truth, I didn't ask anyone else this time."
"Because I didn't have their contact information, or because I was afraid my life was in danger."
Fan Siwen thought for a moment, then his unreliable demeanor suddenly turned serious, “Because they all don’t live long.”
Upon saying this, Fan Siwen anticipated the reaction he would receive.
"I don't care where your so-called information comes from. I've decided to work with you to change some unreasonable factors. If you trust me, we can analyze together to find the optimal solution to change the course of events."
Upon hearing this, Fan Siwen suddenly felt inexplicably downcast. "Do you think we can turn the situation around with our own strength?"
"Why not? As long as you believe."
After saying that, the elder patted Fan Siwen on the shoulder and said, "Young man, you must believe in the power of belief."
"You can stay here with me for a while. I can guarantee your safety. But you still need to put on a good show for those old guys."
The elder's next words were hard for Fan Siwen to accept: "What? Aren't we already on the same side? Why are we still being imprisoned?"
"You don't understand matters of power. Sometimes, in other people's eyes, it might be more effective to achieve the desired result if we become unrelated adversaries."
Fan Siwen didn't understand, and she didn't want to accept it. As she was being led away, she was still struggling violently, clutching the doorknob, "Let me go! I don't agree to be imprisoned! Let me go... let me go..."
Fan Siwen's voice was hoarse and strained, and even long after he was taken away, his noisy voice could still be heard in the corridor.
After the person left, Xiao Zhang came in. "Can you trust what he says?"
Huang Zhongqian stood up from his chair. "Whether we can believe him or not depends on what happens next." He walked up to Xiao Zhang, patted him on the shoulder, and Xiao Zhang looked visibly surprised. "Xiao Zhang, are you hiding something from me?"
Upon hearing this, the young man lowered his head, then looked up again, meeting the eyes of the person in front of him.
When their eyes met, the young man spoke, "During one mission, I was almost hit by a car coming from behind."
"Did you see clearly what kind of car it was?" the elder asked anxiously.
"I was in a hurry to escape at the time and didn't look closely, but I did follow up and investigate later."
"Tell me, what did you find out?"
"This man-made car accident is very similar to several previous ones. They all occurred in blind spots where they couldn't be seen by surveillance cameras. Moreover, the vehicles chosen were all totaled vehicles, and the owners were distanced from the accidents. No one captured any evidence of the perpetrators; they all fled the scene. As for what happened next, it will be very difficult to investigate further."
“They’ve gotten bolder and are starting to target the people around me.”
Huang Zhongqian's expression clearly showed his exasperation.
"What we can be sure of now is that it wasn't our people who did it."
"Are you prepared to risk your life for this outcome?"
Huang Zhongqian's anger had reached its peak at this moment.
"It's time to show them our counterattack."
What are your plans?
Huang Zhong remained silent, only gazing out the window. After a long while, he slowly uttered the following words.
"Treat them as they treat you."
