The research lab recruits

The research lab recruits

"So you were here."

Mo Yang turned around and was startled to see Fan Siwen.

"The ban has been lifted?"

"Yes, as you can see. They say they found the enemy spy hiding among us. It was quite a hassle." He couldn't help but yawn as he spoke.

The way this person looked now, Mo Yang thought, was like an eagle that had been kept awake all night. His eyes were glazed over, and if you looked closely, his eyelids were almost touching.

However, judging from the results he revealed, they were still good.

Mo Yang finally felt relieved.

"By the way, why didn't you come back last night?"

"Stop talking! I was going back to get my pass, but they were arresting everyone I saw, and we're all stuck there. They're treating us like prisoners, and there's nowhere to sleep. They only gave us two meals, and let me tell you, the food here is awful. Looks like I'll have to order takeout from now on." After venting her frustrations, she turned back to Mo Yang and asked, "Want to come along?"

"No need, I think the food here is alright."

"Oh... well, okay then..."

On the way back, Fan Siwen didn't say anything else.

I opened the dormitory door and fell asleep immediately.

It seems like he sleeps so well that even if the neighbor's house were on fire, he probably wouldn't wake up.

However, thanks to Fan Siwen, Mo Yang unexpectedly managed to get a good night's sleep amidst Fan Siwen's soft snoring.

After waking up, Mo Yang stretched and yawned, while Fan Siwen was in a much worse state.

The sound of someone blowing their nose reached Mo Yang's ears, waking him from his half-asleep state.

"You have a cold?"

"Yeah, it's pretty obvious." The other person's voice wasn't exactly funny, but the way they were seriously stuffing tissues up their nose still made Mo Yang chuckle.

"Be kind, after all, I'm still a patient."

The sound coming from a nose stuffed with paper was even funnier.

"What do you want to eat? I'll order you some takeout."

"You're so kind. I won't stand on ceremony then. I'd like to have braised eggplant, stir-fried potatoes, eggplant, and green peppers, fried eggplant fritters, and a pork and vegetable stir-fry with vinegar. Thank you."

Mo Yang listened to these greasy words, letting them go in one ear and out the other, and placed the order in no time.

"Wait a minute, the delivery time here is a bit slow, it is expected to arrive in 1 hour."

"It's not slow anymore. In Country Y, you might have to wait all day for takeout."

"Is it that country Y, where you apply for a residence permit and might only receive it a year later?"

"I can picture it, bro. Looks like we're both Ryuko."

Fan Siwen stood up, ready to give Mo Yang a high five.

"Oh, I just heard people in TV dramas complaining about it."

The half of his body that he had managed to sit up with difficulty shrunk back down.

He was groggily woken up by Mo Yang.

"The takeout is here. Here, eat these while they're hot."

Fan Siwen stared at the ceiling with her eyes open, and struggled on the bed for a while before finally sitting up.

Open the bags tied on the table one by one.

"What is this? Is this porridge? Is this... medicine?"

"Eat first, then take your medicine."

Fan Siwen searched the entire bag but couldn't find a trace of the braised pork ribs he ordered.

"Eggplant is considered a cold food, so it's not suitable to eat it if you have a cold caused by wind or cold. The cold medicine I bought is a traditional Chinese medicine, so I should avoid eating it with oily foods."

I won't eat without ribs.

Fan Siwen put down her chopsticks and prepared to go back to bed.

"Check it out, there are pork ribs in the porridge, and durian in the other bag. Eat it after you finish your meal."

What? Durian?

Fan Siwen came out again, drawn by the smell.

"Drink porridge first, then eat durian."

"I know, I know." Her attitude immediately underwent a 360-degree change.

I sipped the porridge in my hand haphazardly, but I finished off the durian.

"Why can't you eat eggplant, but you can eat durian?"

"Durian is considered a warming food, which is perfect for relieving a cold caused by cold symptoms. You don't have to eat it if you don't want to..."

"I'm finished eating." Before Mo Yang could finish speaking, Fan Siwen quickly stuffed the last piece into her mouth.

"Take your medicine."

After a hearty meal and drinks, the effects of the medicine kicked in.

"I feel dizzy all over, and I probably won't have the energy to work tomorrow. Great, now I have an excuse to slack off. I'm going to ask my supervisor for leave tomorrow. I have a good reason, and I think he'll allow it. Besides, I might not recover in just one day. I feel like my body is collapsing. I need to rest for a few more days, so I need to ask for a few more days off."

"Good luck."

In the evening, a news headline popped up on my phone—General Fei Jun, a member of the Central Military Commission, died in a car accident in Mishi on October 12.

Although he had already learned from Fan Siwen that the undercover agent had been found, Mo Yang still took a shower close to everyone's bedtime.

When I returned, Fan Siwen was already asleep.

Before going to bed, Mo Yang stared blankly at the files in his hand.

Tomorrow, I will embrace new challenges in a completely new role.

Although they invented a time machine in the future, it doesn't mean that he alone can successfully recreate it in the present, in a short period of time.

However, he has now taken on this responsibility regardless.

And the success or failure of this task is a matter of life and death for many people.

He cannot simply abandon him.

The next day, Mo Yang arrived at the laboratory early to calibrate every experimental instrument, connect the system, and input constant values. Just like every time he started a new project, he was busy and enjoying himself.

At that moment, Mo Yang was working with the instruments at hand when he suddenly heard a rustling sound coming from the outside wall.

Mo Yang connected to the monitoring equipment, opened the monitoring system, and saw that the person appearing on the screen was none other than that familiar figure—Fan Siwen.

Mo Yang opened the laboratory door, and the person standing by the wall was so startled that he jumped high into the air.

"Where did you come from?"

"That's exactly what I was about to ask you, what are you doing here?"

"I'm here to report for duty, but I can't find my advisor's lab."

"This is my lab. What number is your advisor's lab?"

"BPHY326, but they only counted up to 325 and then stopped. I'm already late, what am I going to do if I get yelled at!"

Why don't you go ask on the first floor? It might be different in other areas too.

“I came from the first floor. The notice said… wait a minute…” Fan Siwen touched a few numbers covered in dust on the wall next to Mo Yang.

After the dust was wiped away, several metallic characters were revealed.

"BPHY326 is this place. Are you my advisor?"

What's your advisor's name?

"Song Yize".

That's me.

"If I had known you were my mentor, I would not have taken the day off today."

"If that's the case, I can help you apply for a different tutor."

“No need for that. That’s great, I don’t have to be a laborer anymore.” With that, Fan Siwen followed Mo Yang in.

"If you want, you can move that equipment over there. I think it's a bit far to operate."

"It's not too far, just the right distance to get some exercise. 40 is the perfect age to start exercising."

Mo Yang glanced down at his outfit today; he had really gone too far. He picked up his phone and said, "I think I should find a different intern."

"Director Fan, I'm quick and efficient. Just point to where and I'll shoot."

The sickly look that had been on her face just moments before was now completely gone. Fan Siwen moved nimbly in the lab, like a winged flying squirrel.

Fan Siwen originally thought that this internship would begin in the form of hardship and would become even more difficult. Who would have thought that her mentor would treat her to lunch?

Following the principle of getting close to someone and then trying to get close to them, Fan Siwen not only sat next to Mo Yang, but they were even in the same row.

Mo Yang looked at the person next to him, eating with gusto, then looked at his own spot and couldn't help but move further in.

"Eat quickly, you'll have work to do this afternoon."

Although Mo Yang urged him on, Fan Siwen remained unhurried.

"Look how pretty that girl is."

Mo Yang did not follow Fan Siwen's gaze and continued to eat at his own pace.

"She's coming, she's coming..."

As Fan Siwen explained, Mo Yang inadvertently looked up and met the eyes of the person in front of him.

A pair of bright, sparkling eyes, and perhaps it was just my imagination, when she saw Mo Yang, she gave him an unintentional smile.

Mo Yang's pupils dilated instantly.

His gaze lingered there, unwilling to return.

"professor."

Upon hearing this, Mo Yang quickly looked away and nodded politely.

Two girls, carrying trays, sat down next to Mo Yang and Fan Siwen.

The sounds of conversation rose and fell, but Mo Yang could hear them particularly clearly.

"Luckily, I only ran two sets of data today, so I made it in time for the sweet and sour pork ribs for lunch."

"Yes, today is a lucky day for food."

"Senior, which lab are you from? If it's convenient, let's add each other on WeChat. I'll send you the menu from the cafeteria in advance."

"You must be new here. The dishes here are the same every week."

"Well, I've only been here for two days, and today is my first day of internship. I'll have to ask my senior for help if I don't understand anything in the future."

The two girls smiled but didn't respond.

Mo Yang grabbed Fan Siwen by the corner of her clothes and pulled her back to the dining area.

"Are you full? If you are, go back and continue running data."

As he spoke, he picked up his plate and walked to the recycling area next to him.

"Professor Song, wait for me, there's still a piece of spare rib left."

As Fan Siwen spoke, she stuffed the ribs into her mouth, picked up her plate, and chased after Mo Yang.

I don't know what this person is in such a hurry for. It's a newly started project, why is he in such a rush to go back?

As Mo Yang walked ahead, he inadvertently glanced at the girls still eating at the table out of the corner of his eye. Tears were welling up in his eyes and were streaming down his face.

Fan Siwen, who was chasing after him, saw Mo Yang wiping his face with the back of his hand.

"Director, what's wrong?"

"The wind got into my eyes."

Is it windy here?

"Air conditioning wind".
