Chapter 76 The Divine Bond

Zhu Yi felt a red mark on her fingertip as she touched the bloodstains on her shoulder.

The eagle king was not satisfied and gripped even harder with its claws.

Zhu Yi silently thought to herself: I can't beat this guy, I can't beat this guy, I'll just have to endure it!

Wei Weiwei was anxious: "I didn't mean to form a contract with the little eagle. If you're unhappy, Eagle King, please help us break the contract. We'll return the little eagle to you; we don't dare take it back. Please let go of Junior Sister."

Her voice trailed off, tinged with shame: "I...I didn't know the two eggs I picked up were eagle chicks..."

"Daddy? We tasted Mommy's blood when we hatched, it was so delicious!"

The little blackbirds were adding fuel to the fire, completely unaware that their father was furious.

"Our Blue Feather Golden Claw Eagle clan has a mission to guard the Canglan Continent. How can we be easily bound by a contract?" The Eagle King glared at the two ignorant little cubs and sighed.

"Fortunately, it's an equal contract, so it's not that hard to accept."

As the Eagle King loosened its golden claws, Zhu Yi also breathed a sigh of relief.

"Father, we want to stay with Mother!" the little eagle protested softly.

"Together!" the little eagle chick agreed, bewildered.

Eagle King's eyelids twitched: "How can we, the Kings of the Sky, be so spineless!"

"But the first person we saw was our mother!" the two little ones asked, bewildered.

"Don't call me Mother!" The Eagle King flapped its wings to cover its eyes, unable to bear seeing its cub make such a fool of itself.

"Call me 'sister' from now on!" the Eagle King snapped, then lowered its wings and thought for a moment. "Are you two going to train with this person?"

“Yes, yes! We want to follow Mother…” the little eagle blurted out.

"Cough!" The older eagle cub pulled the younger one back. "Sister!"

"We want to follow our older sister now!"

When the two little ones start to act cute, even the mighty Eagle King can't resist.

"Alright, your mother still wants to go out and play. It's fine for you two to follow this man and cultivate."

Eagle King scrutinized Wei Weiwei again but did not sense any danger emanating from the female cultivator.

With a tightening of its claws, the Blue-feathered Golden-clawed Eagle took flight, setting up a blue-golden spell between the two little ones and Wei Weiwei. It then instructed Wei Weiwei: "Since my son has signed an equal contract with you, from now on you are friends. You must take good care of my son, find food for them, and teach them books and classics on human cultivation!"

Before Wei Weiwei could say anything more, Eagle King adopted an attitude that human cultivators were troublesome, looking down at Wei Weiwei with arrogance.

Wei Weiwei didn't want to say anything more. She had originally wanted to give her older brother a baby eagle, but now she could only obediently take care of the eagle king's cub.

"We'll help you take care of the baby, will you pay us?" Zhu Yi asked.

Instead of perching on Zhu Yi's shoulder, the Eagle King landed on the railing at the very edge of the Netherworld Bridge: "Human cultivators are greedy! It's already a blessing you've earned through countless lifetimes to help me raise my child!"

Zhu Yi gave Wei Weiwei a look, reassuring her not to worry.

"That's not a good fit for us. You entrusted Weiwei to take care of your child, so you should at least give us some benefits, right?"

Zhu Yi was not polite and did not miss any opportunity to extort Eagle King.

"Then you should take your child back. We don't want this blessing; it's too much trouble!"

Upon hearing this, Wei Weiwei cooperated with Zhu Yi and pushed the two little ones back to Eagle King.

The Eagle King, unable to think things through, was a little angry. It had been worried about not finding its cubs, but now that it had, it worried that taking them back might attract a second wave of malicious people who might try to steal them.

It would be better to find a safe place for the children. That female cultivator's aura is pure and kinship-like, and the children have already signed an equal contract, so it can't be dissolved immediately.

They can only break the contract after they reach the Spirit Pill stage. What a troublesome kid.

The proud Eagle King ignored Zhu Yi's chatter and kept staring at Wei Weiwei.

Wei Weiwei felt uneasy under his gaze and could only nod: "I will take good care of the two eaglets, please rest assured, Eagle King."

"Hmm." The Eagle King glanced at Zhu Yi arrogantly and said to Wei Weiwei, "Since you're relatively honest, I'll give you three feathers. If you ever need anything, you can burn the feathers to inform me, and I'll come to your aid."

That's about right.

Zhu Yi nodded, and Wei Weiwei carefully put away the three feathers. The two little ones returned to their storage bag, crawled into their breeding bag, and fell fast asleep.

Before the Eagle King flew away, it didn't forget to come over and grab Zhu Yi's delicate little shoulder one last time. Zhu Yi felt heartbroken and could only complain in her heart. She threw herself into Wei Weiwei's arms with a wronged look, asking for a hug and comfort.

"Alright! Junior Sister, you need to get up quickly and apply the medicine."

Wei Weiwei felt a pang of sympathy looking at Zhu Yi's bloodied shoulder.

Zhu Yi only made a small fuss. After the Eagle King left, without even changing her clothes, she swallowed a mid-level Blood Coagulation Pill and started looking for the reward for clearing the second level nearby.

"Come out and help the boss find the reward!" Zhu Yi released two little zombies, and the younger zombie looked at the unfamiliar surroundings with some excitement.

"Swish, swish." This is the first time I've ever seen a place outside of Ghost Mountain! The roast chicken is so delicious, I want more.

The zombie brother, however, was quite shrewd. He put on an air of profound wisdom and grinned at Zhu Yi, "No work without roast chicken!"

Zhu Yi's face darkened: "Are all zombies this shameless these days?"

"If you don't help me find a reward, you can forget about getting any more good food."

“You can’t spoil little brats,” Zhu Yi said to Wei Weiwei. “We can’t let them get too big for their britches, or they’ll be a real problem when they’re disobedient in the future.”

Wei Weiwei nodded in understanding.

The two little zombies, dejected, hopped around trying to find Zhu Yi's reward for completing the level.

The small square, made of red bricks, was completely empty.

The little zombie shook its head and hopped back, babbling to Zhu Yi that it only saw the exit and not the reward.

Zhu Yi was a little disappointed, but still comforted the two little cuties and returned to the Magic Lock Bag.

"It's okay... as long as we get through smoothly!" Xue Shan jumped over to comfort Zhu Yi.

"Alright, let's go and try the third level." Zhu Yi didn't dwell on it too much and started studying the map.

They hadn't seen Zhu Qianying along the way, and the only explanation was that Zhu Qianying had truly entered another realm.

Although Wei Weiwei had mentioned before that Zhu Qianying had headed towards a fairy-like place when she fell in, Zhu Yi still harbored a sliver of hope that her elder sister would actually have such good luck.

"The exit is not far away, let's go!" Wei Weiwei didn't know what to do now. She didn't want to stay here anymore. On the Netherworld Bridge, she had a terrible dream. The dream was too real, and she felt a little dazed.

Looking up at the sky, it was still a hazy gray.

As the three sisters walked out of the red brick square, their wrists suddenly felt hot, and the red mermaid silk was instantly burned away by a wisp of eerie blue ghost fire.

Zhu Yi looked back, but the Netherworld Bridge behind her had disappeared from sight.

The dark lake also disappeared without a trace, and the long red jade bridge transformed into a red ribbon, with a golden bell tied to it, which jingled in the wind, making a very pleasant sound.

Zhu Yi saw the golden bell fly to Xue Shan automatically, and the red ribbon seemed to have a silent spirituality as it gently wrapped around Xue Shan's wrist, carrying a joyful intimacy.

Xue Shan looked at the magical bell and red ribbon with curiosity. A flash of red light appeared, and the name of the red ribbon automatically came to mind.

"The Divine Thread of Fate".
