Chapter 040: Fighting for Life
The soldiers carried the old man's body out.
The people in the room were not surprised, and those who were awake did not show much sadness, as they had long been numb.
The guards untied the boy's restraints, and the silk bandage on his chest was stained with blood.
It was still the same bed, but it was replaced with a straw mat. The boy lay flat on it, but he tilted his head and looked at his "sister" not far away.
Qin Zhaoyue repeated the previous action, and the two sets of distillation equipment never stopped, so after disinfecting the syringe, he quickly prepared another injection.
He exhaled deeply, raised the syringe in front of him, and expelled all the air from it.
"Zhao Yue!" Qin Zhaoqiong wanted to persuade her again, but she saw the back of her sister's hand in the firelight, "Your hand!"
After her reminder, everyone's eyes were focused on the back of Qin Zhaoyue's hand.
There were so many needle holes, some of which were just small scabs left, while others were still black and blue.
Many of the accompanying officials frowned, and everyone understood what that meant.
Pei Xueqi took a step forward, as if wanting to see more clearly, but suddenly froze, his brows furrowed.
Meng Jian's breathing also stagnated slightly. He was just in shock and didn't really notice this detail, but he knew more than others.
A warrior with true qi has a recovery ability far beyond that of ordinary people.
Wounds like needle holes would heal in no time. There was only one explanation for the current appearance: she had stabbed the same spot repeatedly many times!
The rumors circulating in the capital seemed like a huge joke.
If she was really absurd and heartless, why would she take risks for a group of seriously ill people and use her own hands to conduct experiments?
Qin Zhaoyue made sure to expel all the air before giving her elder sister a reassuring look. "It's okay."
Even if you know the theory and have been pricked many times, just because you can do it with your brain doesn't mean you can do it with your hands. Otherwise, there wouldn't be so many trainee nurses whose boyfriends and families have suffered.
So after making the syringe, she practiced many times with the back of her hand, relying on the recovery ability of her sixth-grade body to practice repeatedly before she dared to start.
Without waiting for her elder sister to say anything, she walked straight to the bed, tilted her head slightly to try to appear normal, but she only felt her neck stiffen.
"May I have your name?"
"Li Xuan..."
Qin Zhaoyue took a half step forward, leaned down, and stared into the other person's eyes.
"Li Xuan, two people with the same serious injuries, the same doctor using the same medicine.
One of them survived and the other didn't. Do you know the difference?"
Without waiting for him to think, Qin Zhaoyue pressed his palm against his left chest with a little force.
“Because the one who survived wanted to live more, there is power here.
Li Xuan, if you want to live, tell yourself desperately that you want to live, you can live, and you will definitely live! "
The grin on Li Xuan's face faded a little, his eyes flashed for a moment and then became firm again.
His chest swelled up, as if pushing up Qin Zhaoyue's palm.
"Well... beautiful sister... I want to live... I want to live with all my might..."
Qin Zhaoyue smiled, pretending to be relaxed. "Good boy, survive. Sister will treat you to a delicious meal."
When Li Xuan saw the curved eyebrows and eyes, his expression was stiff, and he was very dissatisfied with the other party's tone of coaxing a child.
He is already fourteen years old and will soon be fifteen. He is not a child!
Even without any orders, the Qingluan Guards were still guarding her from behind, their eyes sweeping over everyone present, their meaning was self-evident.
However, after hearing the conversation between the Sixth Princess and the young man, many people were stunned.
Is this nonsense? Is this absurd? Is this something a nonsense person would say?
Qin Zhaoqiong pursed her lips. She suddenly remembered her sixth sister when she was a child, who was the clingiest and most sensitive.
The third and fourth sisters were teenagers at the time and didn't want to take their little burden with them, so Xiaoliu often pestered them.
But everything changed when she started studying government affairs, and her mother's attention gradually became focused only on her and her third and fourth sisters.
Afterwards, she left the palace and went to a separate residence, and the reputation of the sixth sister for being absurd and mischievous spread.
Perhaps... she was just using this childish method to try to attract the Queen Mother, to get her... attention, but...
Qin Zhaoqiong's eyes darkened as she recalled what she had said during the performance in the imperial study.
Perhaps it was the indifference of family affection that made Xiaoliu have no interest in that supreme position.
Looking at it now, Xiaoliu might be the smartest among the five sisters.
And as the eldest sister... she is really incompetent...
Pei Xueqiao clenched his fists and subconsciously tilted his head to see the figure clearly over the crowd.
There was a sour and itchy feeling in my heart, as if there was something stuck in my throat that I couldn't get out.
Maybe he wanted to comfort the boy, or maybe he wanted to hold Qin Zhaoyue's hand to give her some strength.
But...why should he?
Meng Jian stood at the front side, slightly behind the eldest princess by half a body length. From this direction, he could see the profile of the sixth princess.
Besides the words of encouragement, he keenly noticed the Sixth Princess's stiff body and slightly trembling arms:
She did not act as mature as she appeared, but she tried her best to comfort the boy and give him the courage to live.
The next moment, Meng Jian stepped past the eldest princess and took a step forward.
Sui Mo immediately glanced over, his hand on the hilt of the sword, full of warning.
Meng Jian seemed oblivious and said, "Using true qi to protect the heart meridian might help."
Sui Mo frowned slightly. She had thought about this before.
But firstly, she didn't understand medical knowledge, and secondly, her true energy tended to be cold and yin, so she didn't dare to try it easily.
As for Meng Jian’s words… the Meng family has its own inheritance, at least some masculine exercises, maybe that can be helpful?
Sui Mo was undecided, but then he heard the Sixth Princess' voice from behind, "Let him come over."
"yes!"
The Qingluan Guards made way for him, Meng Jian clasped his fists, then lightly jumped onto the couch and came to the other side of Li Xuan.
Qin Zhaoyue withdrew his hand and pointed at him, "This is the commander of the Imperial Guards. He's very powerful. It will be safer to take action with him."
Although he knew that the Sixth Princess said this to reassure the young man, Meng Jian still found it very helpful.
But then he caught a glimpse of the young man's eyes and said, "That's really...thank you..."
Meng Jian was slightly stunned. He always felt that the young man had a sense of resentment. Why?
Before I could think about it, I heard a soft voice in front of me, "Commander Meng, thank you for your help."
"Your Highness, rest assured. Please proceed as you wish."
Qin Zhaoyue nodded and signaled Doctor Jiang to tie a bandage on Li Xuan's right wrist and gently pat the back of his hand until the blue veins became prominent.
"Ready..."
