Chapter 193: Helping

Shen Yuhan said no more, jumped on the horse and threw down a piece of silver.

With a sudden pull on the reins, the horse's hooves kicked up dust on the ground again, and it instantly disappeared into the night.

Fang Qingyue sat in the carriage, looking through the curtains at the vast night outside.

Her mood at this moment was as complicated as this vast wilderness.

The frontier, this remote place she had read about in books, had a beautiful environment, was backed by mountains, and had scarce supplies, but it was far enough away from the capital.

She knew in her heart that it might not be a comfortable home, but it was the best hiding place at the moment.

"Sister, are we almost there?"

Chi Yue, who was sitting next to her, asked softly, even though she couldn't see.

But with the bumpy ride of the carriage and the increasingly sparse number of pedestrians around her, she could feel the difficulty of this journey.

"It's almost there, Chi Yue." Fang Qingyue gently stroked her hand, her tone gentle with a hint of tiredness.

Cheng Qingyuan outside the car kept holding the reins tightly with a firm look in his eyes.

Although he was exhausted from the journey, he never complained.

They did not stop for two days and two nights, traveling day and night, with the sole intention of escaping farther, to a place where Shen Yuhan could never find them again.

Although his body was tired, his heart was always full of strength because Fang Qingyue was by his side.

Fang Qingyue looked at Cheng Qingyuan's back, and a sense of gratitude arose in her heart.

If Cheng Qingyuan hadn't been by her side to protect them, she wouldn't have been able to make it this far.

She understood Cheng Qingyuan's feelings, and although she could not respond, she still felt sincere admiration for his loyalty and dedication.

At dawn, several people were walking along a small path in the mountains, and finally a glimmer of light appeared in the sky ahead.

You can vaguely see a small town at the foot of the mountain. The houses in the town are scattered and smoke is curling up. It is obviously a remote frontier town.

Far away from the intrigues of the capital, this place is their only refuge at the moment.

"Qingyue, the frontier town is just ahead. We can take a break."

Cheng Qingyuan turned around and spoke softly, his voice full of fatigue.

But it was more of a comfort, as if this place was the peaceful place they had been searching for.

Fang Qingyue nodded, looked at the quiet town ahead, and finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Mr. Cheng, thanks to you." She said softly, her tone full of gratitude.

The carriage finally slowly stopped in front of an inn at the entrance of the town.

The town is not big. There is a dim lantern hanging at the door of the inn, swaying, giving people a feeling of time passing.

The three men dismounted. Cheng Qingyuan looked up at the door plaque and felt relieved.

He led his tired horse to the door of the inn and knocked.

"Is anyone there?" Cheng Qingyuan asked, a hint of fatigue in his voice.

A moment later, the innkeeper came out yawning. Seeing the group of people looking exhausted, he hurriedly came over to greet them: "Sir, do you want to stay in our hotel? It's getting late, please come in."

The three of them walked into the inn, and the warm yellow light illuminated their slightly tired faces.

Cheng Qingyuan walked to the counter and said, "Boss, give us three guest rooms and prepare some fodder for the horses."

The boss quickly responded, "Okay, sir, don't worry, there's plenty of fodder."

After saying this, he told his servant to take care of the horses.

Fang Qingyue and Chi Yue walked towards the room together, and Chi Yue gently held Qingyue's hand.

Although they couldn't see the surroundings, they felt that this place was completely different from the world they had been in before.

The air is filled with the fresh scent of the mountains and forests, without the hustle and bustle of the city.

After they entered the room, Fang Qingyue brought hot water for Chi Yue to wash her hands, while Cheng Qingyuan packed her luggage.

Not long after, Fang Qingyue walked over to Cheng Qingyuan with a cup of hot tea, handed it to him, and said in a gentle voice, "Mr. Cheng, I'm so grateful to you for this journey."

"If it weren't for you, Chi Yue and I would never have been able to escape so far."

Cheng Qingyuan smiled slightly, took the tea, shook his head, but a faint blush appeared on his face: "Qingyue, you are too polite. This is what I should do. Your safety is more important than anything else."

I had just sat down and had a sip of tea when I suddenly heard a commotion outside.

At first, it was just the shouting of a few people, but it soon became a clamorous scene, and the noise came into my ears through the wooden windows of the inn.

Her heart tightened, she put down the teacup, walked to the window and gently opened the curtains.

She looked outside and saw a group of people gathered in the open space in front of the inn.

There seemed to be a woman lying on the ground in the center, and several pedestrians nearby were running around in panic, at a loss as to what to do.

Several anxious voices could be heard faintly from the crowd: "Go call a doctor! She's fainted!"

Fang Qingyue squinted her eyes and looked over carefully, her heart suddenly sank.

The woman who fell to the ground was a pregnant woman with a big belly. Her face was as pale as paper and she was sweating profusely. She seemed to be in unbearable pain and fainted.

She felt a sudden resonance in her heart.

She herself was pregnant, and although she had been fleeing all the way, she could still empathize with the situation at the moment.

Thinking of the pain that the pregnant woman might be going through, Qingyue could no longer stand idly by.

Although she knew that she shouldn't get involved right now, the scene before her made her feel uneasy.

"Sister, what happened?" Chi Yue noticed Qingyue's uneasiness and asked softly.

"There's a pregnant woman who fainted outside. She doesn't look well."

Fang Qingyue answered quickly, her eyes never leaving the window.

She pondered for a moment, then turned to Chi Yue and said, "You stay in the room, I'll go take a look."

Although Chi Yue couldn't hear what was happening outside, she could sense the urgency of the situation from Fang Qingyue's tone and said with concern, "Sister, be careful and don't let anyone find you."
