Chapter 240: Confusion of right and wrong

The poisonous powder in the air gradually took effect. Although it was colorless and odorless at first, once it came into contact with the skin, it would produce a slight burning sensation.

"Ouch, my face! It's so hot!"

One of the ladies cried out in horror. She raised her hand to wipe her face, but the more she wiped, the more painful it became. Her skin became red and swollen as if it had been burned.

As soon as she finished speaking, several others began to feel unwell, with redness, swelling and stinging appearing on their faces and exposed arms. They began to hide away in panic.

"What's going on? Is this powder... poisonous?"

The other noble lady's eyes were filled with fear. She covered her face and sobbed in pain.

Several noble ladies were frightened by the sudden change and stepped back repeatedly. Some even fell to the ground due to pain. The scene was in chaos.

Fang Qingyue watched coldly, remaining extremely calm inside.

Although these poisonous powders are not fatal, they will indeed cause redness, swelling and severe pain on the skin in a short period of time, and make people lose the ability to move.

This was a good time for her to escape.

She glanced at Liu Yunyun indifferently, with a cold smile on her lips.

Since she had seen through today's situation, she naturally would not give the other party a chance to turn the tables.

She deliberately let her feet go weak and acted as if she was extremely frightened.

The moment she "fell" at the door, several noble ladies who had not yet been injured immediately stepped forward to support her, and asked with concern: "Miss Fang, are you okay?"

Fang Qingyue shook her head slightly and said weakly, "The noise just now scared me. I'm a little unsteady..."

Although she still had a calm expression on her face, there was a hint of weakness in her eyes.

When several noble ladies saw that she was pregnant, they immediately felt pity for her and helped her up, their faces full of anxiety.

"What the hell is going on? That smell just now...was it poison?"

A noble lady was still in shock, looking anxiously at the broken bowls and tea scattered on the floor.

Fang Qingyue panted lightly, her eyes calm. "I don't know either. When Sister Liu handed me the tea just now, I smelled a strange smell, but I didn't expect this to happen..."

As she spoke, she pretended to be innocent, with a hint of helplessness in her eyes.

"Oh my God, if this tea is poisonous, then we..."

The other noble lady's face turned even paler when she heard Fang Qingyue's words.

She immediately covered her face, apparently beginning to worry that she had been poisoned.

Just then, the commotion outside attracted many maids.

The steward of the Liu Mansion rushed over and was immediately panicked when he saw the mess on the ground and the miserable state of several noble ladies.

At this point, things had gotten out of hand, and not only was Liu Yunyun covering her throat in pain.

Even the other noble ladies burst into tears due to the stimulation of the poison powder, and the situation got out of control.

"This matter cannot be easily resolved!" a noble lady shouted angrily, covering her already red and swollen face, full of grievance.

"We just came here to attend the flower viewing banquet today, but ended up like this. What is going on in this Liu Mansion?"

Just then, the Liu Mansion's housekeeper and some older ladies arrived and tried to calm the situation.

However, the matter involved many noble ladies, the situation had gotten out of control, and the situation was no longer something they could easily calm down.

Liu Yunyun was holding her throat and collapsed weakly on the ground.

I wanted to explode but couldn't open my mouth, and could only watch the situation spiral out of control.

"Since the matter has become so serious, I'm afraid it can no longer be resolved peacefully."

It is meaningless to argue about who is right and who is wrong at this point. The situation has developed to the point where it must be decided by the royal family.

So, one of the ladies made a prompt decision and said in a deep voice, "Go and ask the Empress. Only she can make the final decision on this matter."

The maid of Liu Mansion immediately received the order and rushed to the palace.

The chaos at the flower banquet soon alarmed the Queen. The Liu family had always been a prominent family in the capital.

It was certainly no trivial matter that such a big incident happened at a banquet where all the noble ladies gathered together.

Although the queen did not express her doubts explicitly, she was well aware of the disputes among these noble ladies.

There must be a deeper purpose behind this incident.

Not long after, the imperial carriages arrived at the Liu Mansion in a grand procession, and brought this group of noble ladies, including Fang Qingyue, into the palace to meet the queen.

"Greetings to Her Majesty the Queen!" Everyone greeted in low voices. The atmosphere was so tense that even the air seemed to freeze.

The Queen raised her hand slightly and said calmly, "No need to be polite. Please stand up."

Her voice was gentle, yet full of authority.

Everyone stood up and stood aside with their hands hanging down, but a trace of fear still hung in their hearts.

The queen walked in slowly and glanced around.

The scene she saw was worse than she had expected.

Several noble ladies had pain on their faces, covering their cheeks that had been burned by the poisonous powder, and crying.

The safflower tea scattered on Fang Qingyue's body still retained a pungent smell, and the air was faintly filled with the aftereffects of the poison powder.

Liu Yunyun collapsed to the side, looking disheveled and with fear in her eyes.

Fang Qingyue stood quietly on the side, her expression as calm as water, appearing extremely composed.

The queen stood in the center of the field, her brows slightly furrowed.

His gaze slowly shifted from Liu Yunyun to Fang Qingyue, a hint of deep thought flashing across his eyes.

She had obviously seen what was going on, but she still maintained a calm appearance.

"What's going on?" The queen's voice was not loud, but it made everyone present hold their breath.

An elderly lady stepped forward and said respectfully, "Her Majesty, today was supposed to be the Liu Residence's flower viewing banquet, and all the noble ladies were gathered, but for some reason, someone was poisoned."
