Chapter 66: No Need for the Boss to Worry

Fang Qingyue frowned and said coldly, "Boss, saving people is my duty, not for any benefit."

"The relationship between you and me is just that of doctor and patient. As for your talk of a wife, that's completely nonsense."

Li Chengfeng's expression changed slightly after being coldly rejected by her, and the resentment in his eyes deepened.

He took a step forward, his tone slightly firm: "Miss Fang, people in the martial arts world value fate."

"It's rare for me, Li Chengfeng, to take a fancy to someone. You might as well reconsider it."

Fang Qingyue felt unhappy. She took a deep breath and decided to completely dispel Li Chengfeng's idea.

She stared into his eyes, her tone suddenly slowing down, with a hint of cold determination: "Boss Li, do you know why I rejected you?"

Li Chengfeng was stunned, a hint of doubt flashed in his eyes: "Why?"

Fang Qingyue had no expression on her face and said calmly, "Because I already have a child."

As soon as these words were spoken, Li Chengfeng was struck by lightning and his face froze instantly.

His eyes widened, as if he couldn't believe his ears: "You...you have a child?"

Li Chengfeng's expression suddenly became complicated. He widened his eyes, as if he had heard something absurd and utterly shocking.

"Miss Fang..." His voice was low, filled with suppressed anger, but his tone was deliberately relaxed. "Are you trying to make up an excuse to reject me?"

"Pregnant? A widow, pregnant, and still practicing medicine everywhere to save people, this is too bizarre."

Fang Qingyue looked at Li Chengfeng, her heart calm. She knew that this sentence was a huge blow to him.

But it was precisely because of this that she chose this reason to completely cut off his thoughts.

Her eyes were as calm as water, and she said calmly, "It doesn't matter if the boss doesn't believe me."

"You can ask your village's doctor to take my pulse, and the truth will come out naturally."

When Li Chengfeng heard this, the displeasure on his face became even more obvious.

He frowned and stared at Fang Qingyue, as if trying to find a flaw in her calm face.

However, Fang Qingyue remained calm and showed no signs of dodging or guilt.

This calm confidence actually made him start to waver, and his doubts grew even more.

"Are you serious?"

Li Chengfeng's voice became low, with a hint of unwillingness.

Fang Qingyue nodded calmly: "If you don't believe me, you can verify my identity. I, Fang Qingyue, never lie."

Li Chengfeng stared at her for a long time, and the doubt in his eyes finally gave way to the anxiety in his heart.

He gritted his teeth, suddenly waved his hand, and shouted outside the door: "Come here, go and ask the village doctor to come and take Miss Fang's pulse!"

Upon hearing the order, two of the bandits immediately hurried away.

The atmosphere in the room suddenly became tense, and the air seemed to be frozen.

Fang Qingyue was still sitting there, her expression normal, as if this confrontation had nothing to do with her.

Li Chengfeng stood aside, his palms clenched into fists, feeling mixed emotions.

He felt like Fang Qingyue was teasing him, but he couldn't ignore her composure.

If she was really telling a lie, how could she be so calm?

Not long after, an elderly doctor was brought in. He had white hair, was dressed in a coarse cloth robe, and had a capable look on his face.

Li Chengfeng hurried forward and briefly explained the situation, his tone filled with impatience: "Take her pulse and see if what she said is true."

The doctor was obviously confused by these words, but he didn't dare to ask more questions and just nodded in agreement.

Fang Qingyue stretched out her wrist and looked at the doctor calmly, with no unusual expression.

The doctor gently pressed her pulse, closed his eyes, and carefully felt the changes in her pulse.

As time passed, Li Chengfeng became more and more anxious.

His eyes kept wandering between the doctor and Fang Qingyue, his heart beat faster, and he was vaguely expecting some kind of result.

Finally, the doctor withdrew his hand, frowned and thought for a moment, then looked up and said, "Master, this Miss Fang is indeed... three or four months pregnant."

As soon as these words came out, Li Chengfeng was struck by lightning.

His body shook violently, his pupils contracted, his face suddenly lost all color, and his clenched fists loosened.

The whole room suddenly fell into silence, and all the bandits opened their eyes wide, as if they could not believe what they saw.

"What……"

Li Chengfeng's voice was hoarse, and his tone was filled with strong disbelief. "She... really has a child?"

The doctor nodded and said with certainty: "The pulse is stable, it is definitely pregnancy."

Li Chengfeng was suddenly speechless, as if his heart had been hit by a heavy hammer.

Every word Fang Qingyue spoke seemed to turn into a sharp blade, piercing into his heart.

His original interest in her, his admiration for her, and even his desire to keep her were completely shattered in that instant.

"You..." Li Chengfeng looked at Fang Qingyue stiffly, his expression extremely complicated, "Why didn't you say it earlier?"

Fang Qingyue gently withdrew her wrist, her tone still calm: "This is my private matter, it has nothing to do with you."

"If the boss hadn't insisted on pestering me, I wouldn't have to tell him."

She stood up and straightened her sleeves, her eyes still calm and composed. "Now that the truth is out, I should go."

Li Chengfeng was silent for a moment. He then spoke slowly, his voice filled with emotion that was difficult to suppress: "Miss Fang, I didn't mean to offend you."

"But I feel sad to hear that you are a widow and pregnant."

"You are a woman, pregnant, traveling alone in the martial arts world. You will inevitably encounter difficulties in the future."

"In that case, why don't you stay and be my wife?"
