Some people left, and some people stayed.
Wei Wei stood there expressionless and ordered, "Go and have two old women tell the old lady what happened. Also, go to the front yard and have the steward arrange for someone to handle this."
Faced with such a situation, no one wanted to displease the young mistress at this crucial moment, and those with quick minds hurriedly slipped away.
In the end, only the younger maids and Xiaoyue'er and Xiaoqiao'er were left.
Wei Wei glanced at Xiao Yue'er before stepping into the house.
Xiao Qiao'er wanted to go in, but Xiao Yue'er, who had received the message, stopped her: "Miss is sad. Let her stay alone for a while before she goes to see Zhang Mama one last time. We shouldn't disturb her."
Xiao Qiao'er opened her mouth, but ultimately did not follow.
Inside the room, Wei Wei looked up and saw that Zhang Mama's face had long since turned pale and her body was stiff.
It hung upright, looking ferocious and eerie.
His gaze shifted from her lifeless face to her hands hanging limply at her sides.
It was spotless, with absolutely nothing inside?
Wei Wei frowned and stepped forward to examine the area more closely.
You read that right, there wasn't a single trace under the fingernail.
Her lips were tightly pursed, and her eyes were dark.
His gaze slowly shifted, finally settling on the half-open window.
She had deliberately closed the window before leaving at dawn, but it was now open again.
In a place she couldn't see, someone actually watched what she was doing!
The hairs on Wei Wei's back stood on end. Who could have helped her erase this only flaw?
She simply didn't believe anyone would be so kind; the only possibility was that someone had a bigger scheme.
All the people I know began to appear in my mind, and I listed them off one by one, then rejected them one by one.
She didn't know many people to begin with, so who would have the guts to do that?
Wei Wei felt a splitting headache.
Completely baffled, they prepared to take a desperate gamble.
Regardless of what that person was planning, she didn't immediately expose her. She would just wait and see what that person's purpose was!
"Madam, what brings you here...?"
Xiaoyue'er's surprised voice suddenly rang out from outside, pulling her back to reality.
Wei Wei suddenly raised her head; this old man's movements were really fast!
"Where is the young mistress?"
His voice sounded tired and very sad.
Wei Wei's eyes suddenly reddened, and she quickly turned around and went out, as if she had finally found her pillar of support.
"Madam, you've arrived!"
"Granny Zhang... she's gone!"
Wei Wei ran out quickly, her voice trembling with sobs. When she finally saw the old lady, tears streamed down her face.
"It's all my fault!"
She ran in front of the old lady and was about to kneel down on the ground.
She had her hair half-down and her shoes not yet on, clearly indicating that she had rushed over after receiving the news.
Her current helpless and heartbroken appearance startled the old woman, so Chun, the old woman's maid, cried out "Oh dear!" and quickly helped her up.
Ultimately, she was bound to be swayed by his generosity, and she was quite satisfied with this generous young mistress.
"Young Madam, do you want Zhang Mama to die in unease? How can she possibly deserve your kneeling?"
The nemesis was finally dead, and Granny Chun couldn't suppress the smile on her face. She was so pleased with herself that she completely ignored the displeasure in the old lady's eyes.
She leaned on a cane, her face still kind. Only the hand gripping the cane was white from the force of her grip.
Losing a beloved general must have filled her with immense anger.
But what I felt most was surprise and doubt.
She turned to another long-faced woman beside her and said, "Take some people and take her body down. Even though she was useless, we were still master and servant."
It seems they want to send someone to investigate the true cause of Zhang Mama's death.
At this moment, Wei Wei felt less nervous.
The mysterious person actually cleared her name, so no one would notice anything unusual.
This actually helped her out.
Wei Wei kept her head down and sobbed softly in Chun Mama's arms, and Chun Mama, being very understanding, kept comforting her.
A short while later, the long-faced old woman and her entourage reappeared in front of them.
After gently shaking his head at the old lady, he stood behind her again.
Vivi noticed both of their subtle actions. As she wiped away her tears with her handkerchief, a cold smile crept onto her lips.
The old lady sighed heavily, as if she were truly a compassionate old woman.
Seeing Wei Wei's pained and self-reproachful expression, he felt even more sorry for her and took her hand in his.
"Silly child, I know how this happened, so how can I blame you?"
She comforted her gently, "She's so old, she didn't know any better and made you angry. Scolding her is the least of your worries. Even if she were beaten or scolded, she would deserve it!"
After saying that, he patted the back of her hand and said, "This has nothing to do with you! Don't cry anymore."
"Yeah yeah."
Granny Chun chimed in sincerely, "Look at how thinly the young mistress is dressed. She rushed here to see her without even changing her clothes. It wouldn't be worth it if she caught a cold!"
After saying this, he smiled and asked, "Would this old servant like to help the young mistress back to rest for a while?"
Upon hearing this, the old lady's eyes finally darkened.
This stupid thing, who doesn't know how to read people's eyes, seems to be born without a brain.
She planned to take advantage of Zhang Mama's death and Wei Wei's panic to insert another suitable person into the family.
