Chapter 130 Will you go?

Wei Wei turned around in surprise: "Is Madam Wei coming with us too?"

Madam Wei smiled and shook her head: "I won't go. I'm keeping you here just to ask if you'll be attending Master Lu's mother's 60th birthday celebration in seven days?"

Wei Wei was stunned, not understanding what she meant.

Master Lu was quite influential in Loucheng, so he should have sent an invitation to the Meng family.

However, because so many things have happened to the Meng family recently, even if they send gifts but don't actually go, others can't really say anything.

Hearing Madam Wei's question, she hesitated for a moment before agreeing.

When Madam Wei saw that she had agreed, she smiled in relief.

He patted her hand and said, "Good girl, go ahead."

"I haven't fully recovered yet, I'll go back in a little while."

Xiao Yue'er pulled her away, and Wei Wei turned around to see Madam Wei still looking at her with a smile.

However, there were too many people, and I was quickly pushed into the empty space that had just been vacated, and I could no longer see anyone.

Wei Wei subconsciously felt that she must have something to say to her.

But we'll have to wait seven days.

Is what you're talking about very serious?

She felt inexplicably heavy-hearted.

"Prefect Liu has been brought in!"

Someone spoke loudly, interrupting her thoughts.

She couldn't help but look up and follow the gaze.

The voices around me hadn't stopped yet: "That was really ugly. Where is that arrogant attitude you used to have?"

"I never thought that someone who always looked down on others would end up like this!"

Everyone stood below the stage discussing the situation when Prefect Liu was forced onto the stage.

Because his crimes did not warrant the execution of his entire family, Yao Zidian simply had his family members driven out of the Liu residence and left to fend for themselves.

At this moment, the whole family stood in another corner, staring blankly at everything with grief on their faces, no different from a stray dog.

Yao Zidian and Yu Qian had already taken the stage by this time.

They were dressed in the most formal official robes, sitting steadily in the very center, exuding an air of authority that commanded respect and could not be ignored.

However, Yu Qian's face still bore the marks of a punch he had received yesterday—scratched by the sachet in his hand.

Although she was keeping a straight face, Wei Wei still found it somewhat amusing.

The two men sat solemnly as their companions read aloud from a booklet detailing the heinous crimes Prefect Liu had committed since arriving in Loucheng.

The charges were listed one by one, and it certainly sounded like he was utterly wicked.

Everyone's emotions were stirred up, and they all shouted that the crime was unforgivable.

After the officials around him finished reading out all the charges, Yao Zidian looked at the sky and pulled out the fire warrant from the pen holder on the table.

"Execute them!"

At a command, the fire token was thrown to the ground.

The tall, burly executioner took a big gulp of strong liquor and then spat it all onto the large knife in his hand.

The officials restrained Prefect Liu, and the executioner's blade was already raised.

What follows is bound to be very bloody.

Wei Wei dared not look any longer and turned her head away with her two maids. All she could hear was the sudden increase in the sound of Prefect Liu's family weeping, followed by the sound of heads falling to the ground on the stage.

Prefect Liu's life has come to an end.

I just hope he can be a good person in his next life and not make the same mistakes again.

Wei Wei stood silently for a while before leading Xiao Yue'er and Xiao Qiao'er back.

Halfway there, she remembered that she had promised Jiang Yu yesterday that she would spend more time with Prime Minister Gu's grandson these next few days.

So he led his men to Osmanthus Lane.

There weren't many people living in Osmanthus Lane, but they were all fairly well-off.

They don't like to move around as much as people in other alleys.

Most of them just shut themselves in and live their own lives.

This is probably why Jiang Yu chose to live here.

As Wei Wei walked to the door, she heard a clear, cheerful laugh coming from inside, the kind of laughter that only children have.

She peered through the crack in the door, which was never fully closed.

The old servant who had been accompanying Jiang Yu was lovingly letting the child sit on his lap and act spoiled. The child's short legs kept swinging, which was the kind of cuteness that every child should have.

In just one night, the two of them became acquainted.

She then thought of the child and her mother traveling from the capital to Loucheng.

Given that woman's abilities, it will probably take at least seven days.

This was even with a carriage available for her.

She asked him last night if that was her mother.

How did the child answer?

It was as if he had seen someone who terrified him so much that he didn't even want to look at them!

Why did he develop such a strong aversion to his mother?

Was she being abused?

That woman only had eyes for him, so how could she possibly mistreat him?

It seems that while he was at the Gu residence, he was provoked by others and began to see his mother as a ferocious tiger or wild beast.

Perhaps he is innocent.

But that still made her instantly lose all intention of teasing him.

He stood at the door for a while, then turned to leave.

Who knew that as soon as I turned my head, I saw Jiang Yu walking over from a distance.

A dashing young man, every step he takes exudes charm.

She stood still, waiting for him to get closer.

"You just went to watch the beheading?" He seemed surprised that she had arrived so quickly, his eyes full of smiles.

Are you scared?

Wei Wei nodded, then shook her head: "Yes, I'm not afraid."
