Chapter 136: He wanted to jump himself.

After Noel woke up, her fever gradually subsided.

However, just in case, we still asked a doctor to come in for a consultation.

He prescribed some calming medicine and told him to rest well before taking his leave.

He's only three years old, so he's always weak when he's sick.

She became even more obedient when held by Mrs. Jiang.

Wei Wei had already changed her clothes and was helped into the bedroom by Xiao Yue'er.

"Awake?" she asked.

Jiang stroked his head affectionately without saying a word, letting Ma answer.

Ma smiled and said, "He hasn't been awake for long, he's not very energetic, and he doesn't want to answer when you talk to him."

"But I just gave him a good talking-to, and he won't be running around at night anymore."

Wei Wei sat down to the side and met Nuo'er's gaze.

Clear and still.

There were still marks on her face from yesterday's scratches.

"Noor, tell your aunt."

What exactly happened last night?

Noel didn't speak; he simply lowered his head.

Jiang was a little anxious and tugged at his hand: "Your aunt is asking you a question, so just tell her everything."

"We'll find out exactly what happened so we can get justice for you!"

Noel, however, seemed not to hear her and refused to answer no matter how she asked.

Seeing this, Madam Ma's eyes flashed, and she said, "This silly child must have missed his mother last night, which is why he went out and ran around."

"It will be fine in another day or two."

“I’ve seen it all over the past three days. He really likes the Meng family mansion and is willing to live here.”

She kept saying that she liked Nuo'er very much, but her relationship with him was nothing.

Even now that Noel is like this, she still hasn't given up.

Madam Ma, that smiling tiger, truly lives up to her reputation as the old lady's younger sister; her temperament is indeed not much different from hers.

However, her love for her grandson was far less than that of the old lady.

A look of disdain and mockery flashed in Wei Wei's eyes.

Her voice grew a little louder: "Auntie may not have heard me clearly this morning, but I already said that I can't take care of this child."

"The Meng family is now on the verge of collapse. I need to focus all my energy on how to get the Meng family back on its feet. I have no energy left to take care of a child."

"If something like today happens a couple more times, I'll lose my life too."

Upon hearing this, Madam Ma's face, which had been all smiles just moments before, turned ugly.

Her gaze was fixed on Nuo'er, who was obediently hiding in Jiang's arms. She seemed very angry at him for being so disobedient!

Jiang's face was grim, but she still held Nuo'er tightly.

Wei Wei didn't care about the atmosphere between the three of them.

She simply looked at Madam Ma and continued, "As for the agreement between Aunt and the old lady, it has been null and void with her passing. But you are, after all, her own sister, and as her granddaughter-in-law, I will not abandon you."

"I have already asked my maid to prepare some silver for you."

"Consider it an explanation to the old lady."

Wei Wei slowly said, "If you're willing, then take the money home."

"If you don't want to, then the scene will be a bit awkward."

Ma's gloomy gaze shifted from Nuo'er, her expression shifting between light and shadow, and she did not utter a sound immediately.

Jiang hugged her son tighter and said unwillingly, "Mother, they are so heartless and have harmed my son like this. How can we let them get away with this!"

Mrs. Ma immediately turned her head and glared at her fiercely: "Shut up!"

When Jiang dared not speak again, her gaze returned to Wei Wei opposite her.

"Auntie knows what you mean, you just think of us as relatives who are freeloading."

“My sister has passed away, and what she said can no longer be counted.”

She said with a pale face, "It's just that Nuo'er has suffered too much injustice here these past two days."

“A child this young, running off to the pond alone in the middle of the night, no one would believe it. Even if we reported it to the authorities, we wouldn’t be afraid!”

Wei Wei smiled and casually adjusted her cuffs: "So what does Auntie mean?"

"One thousand taels of silver, and we'll leave immediately."

Ma's voice showed no hesitation, as if she had thought about it countless times.

Wei Wei didn't speak, but Xiao Yue'er behind her stared in astonishment, then angrily shouted, "Why don't you just rob it?"

"Just a couple of days ago I felt sorry for your family, but it turns out you were up to something like this?"

At this point, Ma finally stopped pretending.

She laughed coldly: "It's too dangerous for us orphans and widows to go and rob someone."

She said smugly, "How can that compare to someone handing the money to us?"

After saying this, she gave Wei Wei a defiant look.

That statement is truly shameless.

Xiaoyue was furious, but Wei Wei's face remained unchanged.

He even smiled.

To say such things while in someone else's home these days is incredibly audacious.

"Auntie, you outsiders probably don't know this."

“A couple of days ago, Zhixuan’s second uncle had someone steal my things, and I sent him to jail.”

"Those things were so valuable that even if they cried and regretted it deeply, they were still sentenced to several decades."

"Right now, we've probably arrived at that place where the sun never shines while we're mining."

"I have never suffered before, but now I have no time to rest for even a single day."

"Thinking about it this way, it's really pathetic."

She stared intently at Madam Ma, the mockery in her eyes causing the latter to break out in a cold sweat.

“If even a single hair is missing from my possession, I will make that person pay back double.”

The voice remained gentle, but the slight tilt of the head gave the impression of malice: "This morning, one of my treasured pearls from the East has disappeared."

Did you take it?

Madam Ma and Madam Jiang stared at her in disbelief, their eyes wide.

"What Eastern pearls and Southern pearls? We've never seen them before, nor have we ever handled them!"

A hint of panic finally appeared on their faces.

Ma jumped up from the stool, panting, and shouted, "Wei, you're utterly slandering me!"

"Isn't this all learned from you guys?"

Wei Wei looked at her and said, "When we offered you wine, you wouldn't eat it. Instead, you knelt on the ground and licked up the spilled wine."

"Aren't you guys stupid?"

Nuo'er, who had been lying motionless on Jiang Shi's body, suddenly raised her head, feeling the person holding her trembling slightly.

Her voice was still soft and sweet.

“Grandmother, Mother, I ran away by myself last night, it has nothing to do with the nanny.”

What a filial son!

Wei Wei glanced at him.

It wasn't heavy, but it still made him unable to lift his head no matter what.
