Chapter 14 The Man in Black

Granny Chun doesn't have half the cunning and intelligence of Granny Zhang, and she doesn't know how the old lady will train and discipline her tonight so that she can continue to be used by her after coming to Tingfeng Pavilion.

However, it was precisely because Wei Wei saw this point that she deliberately brought it up in front of the old lady.

Even after Granny Zhang died, someone still had to go into her courtyard.

Instead of having a stranger, let's have Granny Chun do it.

After all, she has flaws all over her body that anyone can exploit.

The three men, each with their own thoughts, all wore genuine smiles of satisfaction, as if no one had ever died in the house.

When it was time to leave, the old lady did not ask to see Zhang Mama one last time.

Instead, Wei Wei spoke up: "Choose a fine coffin for Granny Zhang; I want to personally burn paper money for her."

The old lady glanced at her upon hearing this, strongly disapproving: "You ignorant brat, just throw that tattered mat into the mass grave!"

It seems she was truly furious about Zhang Mama's suicide.

The servants dared not disobey, but Wei Wei could not let the matter end like this.

The old lady's ruthlessness could have a deterrent effect, but it also made people feel that she was heartless.

Aside from fear, there was much less respect.

She insisted on preserving Zhang Mama's body so that everyone could see who should be loyal and who shouldn't.

After the old lady left, Chun Mama, who was still there, was called back by Wei Wei.

“I know you’ve always been soft-hearted. Although Granny Zhang isn’t very likable, she’s still a respectable old woman. If we were to throw her into the mass grave, it would surely discourage others.”

"If Granny Zhang has time, could you perhaps take Xiaoyue'er to her house and give her some money so they can properly collect Granny Zhang's body?"

Granny Chun secretly curled her lips in disdain, but outwardly dared not refute her words: "This old servant has nothing to do at the moment, so I can take Xiaoyue'er on a trip."

"That's good, then you can go now."

Granny Chun and Xiao Yue'er left, and Xiao Qiao'er helped Wei Wei back to the main house.

While helping Wei Wei change her clothes, he happened to see the dried blood on her nightgown.

Her face was somewhat stiff as she silently covered the bloodstains, her voice tense: "This servant will go and have someone bring in breakfast."

Wei Wei leaned back on the chaise lounge, lazily responded, and watched as Xiao Qiao'er lowered her head and walked out.

Only after her figure turned and went outside did Wei Wei's idle gaze finally focus.

She deliberately didn't let Xiaoyue'er clean the blood-stained nightgown, just to see what kind of person Xiaoqiao'er was.

Since it had been by her side for many years, she didn't know if what happened in her past life was true or false, so she would take a closer look at it in this life.

If I haven't betrayed her, I won't let anyone bully me again. If I have betrayed her, there's no need to keep her by my side anymore.

"Autumn leaves".

Qiu Ye, a second-class maid who was standing guard at the door, quickly walked in when she heard Wei Wei's voice.

"I forgot to remind Xiaoqiao that I wanted my porridge to be a little lighter this morning."

"Tell her when you catch up."

Qiu Ye agreed and quickly chased after him.

Before long, Qiuye returned: "Young Madam, Sister Qiao said she knows. Since you're not in the mood right now, she's already had someone prepare some light porridge."

Wei Wei laughed, resting her chin on her hand and casually asked, "You found out so quickly? Where did you meet her?"

Qiu Ye said, "Sister Qiao didn't go out; she's washing clothes in the side room."

"It's the nightgown you wore this morning. Sister Qiao said the fabric was precious and she was worried that those rough old women would mess with it, so she made it herself to put her mind at ease."

After hearing this, Wei Wei remained silent for a moment, then dismissed the person.

It's true that the fabric of that nightgown is precious, but which of her clothes isn't the same?

But what he really wanted was to secretly wash away the blood that had somehow gotten on him.

In my past life, I had wronged her.

Wei Wei felt incredibly frustrated; none of the people who had done so much for her had gotten a good outcome.

In this lifetime, besides seeking revenge, she also had many debts to repay.

When Xiaoqiao came in, her gaze fell on her.

Don't you want to ask?

Xiao Qiao'er was taken aback for a moment, then smiled and said, "This servant is not good with words, as long as I can stay by your side, Miss, that's enough."

Wei Wei's gaze shifted, finally settling on her hand: "What are you holding in your hand?"

Xiao Qiao'er opened her palm: "This is medicine for external injuries; Miss might need it."

Wei Wei made a "hmm" sound and actually took off her coat, revealing her injured arm.

On his fair forearm, the thumb-sized wound was quite conspicuous, and it was clear that the wound was not shallow.

Xiao Qiao'er knelt on the ground, carefully applying medicine to her. In the quiet room, her low voice suddenly came out: "Last night when I got up in the middle of the night, I found that Miss was missing."

She was a little nervous, and Wei Wei just looked at her gentle profile without saying a word.

She knew she would continue talking.

Xiao Qiao'er continued, "I was a little surprised at first, but when I went out to look for you, I saw you and Xiao Yue'er heading towards the side room."

"Knowing you had something to do, I didn't follow up."

So the next morning, I heard the news that Granny Zhang had hanged herself.

Xiao Qiao'er is not talkative, but from her behavior today, she can be seen to be a calm and composed person.

She sighed softly, "When Xiaoyue comes back, you and she can come to see me together."
