Jiang Yu felt somewhat helpless, but even more so, he doted on him.
He said, "If I don't go, even if Fifth Brother manages to save you by some twist of fate, things won't be much better for you."
"Fifth Brother is different from Third Brother. His personality is more unpredictable. If we fall into his hands, it might be more terrifying than if we fall into the hands of the big man."
Well, anyway, the point is to make Wei Wei believe that he really had no other choice.
Wei Wei suppressed a laugh and nodded reluctantly: "Then I still have to thank you."
Jiang Yu smiled and said, "No need to thank me, I'm already satisfied with just giving you another chance."
I never realized he was so eloquent.
Indeed, people are always fickle.
But wouldn't he have any suspicions about his sudden and hurried appearance at the venue designed by the Fifth Prince?
Wei Wei heard it clearly at the time; the man in front of her even persuaded the Fifth Prince not to take action against Su Shou Tang for the time being!
Why isn't he afraid? Is this really a good thing?
As if sensing her worry, Jiang Yu comforted her, "I was working with him a while ago, so he won't suspect my purpose for showing up for now. Don't worry."
Wei Wei looked at him seriously: "People in the royal family are naturally suspicious. What if he really suspects you?"
Upon hearing this, Jiang Yu was unsure whether to be happy or worried.
She was concerned about him, but she forgot that he was also a member of the royal family.
Could it be that in her eyes, he has become much more virtuous?
Thinking this way, he felt less upset and even smiled and told her, "If Fifth Brother really suspects me, then kill him."
These words made Wei Wei twitch her eyebrows.
He thought it was like killing chickens and ducks, which would be easy to do.
The third prince died tonight. If the fifth prince were to die soon, would the emperor sitting on the dragon throne let the matter pass so easily?
That's his son!
He can kill, and if someone else kills him, it means they've crossed his line!
Wei Wei felt a mix of sweetness and worry.
So he advised, "If you're going to fight for that position, you have to make sure everything goes perfectly. I'm just an insignificant character, so don't put too much effort into it."
"In that situation, I wasn't necessarily going to die. If I encounter a similar situation again, I won't act impulsively."
Wei Wei spoke these words with complete sincerity, and she harbored no resentment whatsoever.
But Jiang Yu found it very unpleasant to hear.
He went to such lengths, climbing step by step, with the sole purpose of having the person he loved stand openly by his side and walk alongside him.
He admitted that he had wasted too much time, but the Su Shou Tang he created was not just for show, and it was fully capable of supporting him to do some of the things he wanted to do.
Now he has firmly established himself in the imperial court.
If it weren't for the Prime Minister's support, why would the Fifth Prince give him face?
He took the opportunity to fully express his unwillingness to compete with others for the position of crown prince, which made the fifth prince believe him to be about 70% true.
The Fifth Prince was unaware that it wasn't that he didn't want to, but rather that he felt the time wasn't right. He wanted to wait until these people fought amongst themselves, then he would be the fisherman behind the scenes.
Upon hearing Wei Wei's words, his heart tightened.
His expression turned somewhat somber.
“Awei”.
For the first time, he didn't call her Miss Wei anymore, but instead openly told her his feelings.
“I, Jiang Yu, have long since moved beyond living at the mercy of others. The people I care about don’t need to make any sacrifices for my sake.”
Wei Wei trembled slightly upon hearing his words.
The heat around her eyes made it impossible for her to remain calm.
She wanted to turn her head away, but Jiang Yu wouldn't let her avoid it.
He looked at her and solemnly asked, "Can you tell me your thoughts?"
Wei Wei's lips moved, and under his burning gaze, she finally slowly raised her head.
"Are you telling the truth? You haven't lied to me at all?"
Finally receiving her response, Jiang Yu was overjoyed and immediately nodded: "I swear, if it's false, may I, Jiang Yu, never..."
Before he could finish his vow, a hand suddenly reached out and covered his mouth. Wei Wei said, "I believe you. Don't make such a terrible oath."
Her hand was soft, and when it landed on Jiang Yu's lips, it felt like being gently touched by a feather, making his heart beat even faster.
Even though he had been holding back, his throat finally couldn't help but move.
Those peach blossom eyes, already full of affection, shone with a burning light, as if they wanted to open their mouths immediately and swallow the finger on their lips!
Wei Wei belatedly realized that something was wrong with him, and her face immediately turned red.
She tried to pull her hand back, but Jiang Yu held it firmly in his.
“Avi, I’m so happy.”
His eyes held a gentle smile that almost made Wei Wei drown.
Wei Wei couldn't break free from his hand. At that moment, it felt as if all the strength in her body had suddenly been drained, leaving her at a loss.
She was probably happy inside, and didn't struggle.
I only vaguely heard him speak with complicated emotions.
Jiang Yu said, "For the past twenty-one years, I thought I would never have many happy days again. I just drifted along, thinking that this was how my life would be."
"But I ran into you when I went to Loucheng."
Do you know how interesting I was when I first met you?
He looked at him with deep affection and began to recount: "At that time, I thought that what is just a chess piece in other people's eyes can turn the whole chessboard upside down."
