She rubbed her hands together, her face filled with unease.
Xiao Yue'er frowned: "I'll go to the kitchen and see if the young mistress wants to eat some pastries."
Granny Chun smiled and said, "There's no need for you to go personally over such a small matter. I'll send a maid to take a look now."
Xiao Yue'er looked at her with some surprise: "Granny Chun, I've always been the one taking care of what Miss eats, so you don't need to worry."
After saying this, he walked past her and went outside again.
Granny Chun grabbed her arm: "Little Yue'er, you can't go out! You must take good care of the young mistress!"
"Let go!"
After trying to shake him off several times without success, Xiaoyue'er's face darkened: "If the young mistress finds out that you are deliberately making things difficult for me, let's see if she will complain to the old lady!"
At the mention of the old lady, Granny Chun's face contorted a few times. Although she was afraid, she still didn't let go of her hand.
The two were arguing when Xiao Qiao'er helped Wei Wei out of the house.
"Granny Chun, what are you trying to do?"
Wei Wei looked at her expressionlessly, and the coldness in her eyes made Granny Chun shiver for no reason.
"Young Madam... this old servant didn't do anything." She swallowed and forced a smile: "I was just talking to Xiaoyue about some trivial things."
Wei Wei's eyes were deep, and she gave a faint "hmm" before looking at Xiao Yue'er: "Don't fool around with the nanny anymore, go to the kitchen quickly."
Before the words were even finished, Granny Chun cried out anxiously, "You can't go! You can't go!"
She said, "You can make the little maids do everything... They're always slacking off, it's only because the young mistress is easy to talk to!"
Wei Wei smiled: "We never see Granny Chun usually, why is she suddenly so enthusiastic?"
Granny Chun's eyes darted around, trying to say something to brush it off, but Wei Wei's next words sent chills down her spine.
"How about this, I'll go ask the old lady if she instructed you to be so domineering and unreasonable."
Granny Chun dared not speak recklessly again; her knees went limp and she lost all strength.
She had been slacking off and being lazy during her time at Tingfeng Pavilion. If the old lady really investigated, would she even want to live?
With that thought in mind, she simply knelt down before Wei Wei, pleading with a sob, "Young Madam, please spare me! The eldest young master instructed that no one in the courtyard is allowed to leave!"
Recalling that venomous gaze, she shuddered again, forcing herself to say, "Young Master is only doing this for Young Madam's own good!"
"You two just had a disagreement, and he was worried you might do something rash..."
take things too hard?
He's probably afraid that his plan might go wrong!
Wei Wei broke out in a cold sweat after figuring it out, her eyes turning bloodshot.
Recalling his eagerness to get home just now, is he planning something?!
What is he trying to do?!
Recalling the fate of her parents in her past life, Wei Wei felt a chill run down her spine.
She tried her best to control her body, but her voice still trembled: "Does Zhixuan want to imprison me?"
She asked, "Isn't it just because I didn't go back to my parents' home as he wanted?"
"Okay, okay, I'll go back! I'm leaving right now!"
At this point, he hurriedly walked out.
Xiaoyue'er also realized something, and her face turned pale.
She looked at Xiaoqiao'er and said urgently, "Hold the young mistress so she doesn't fall. I'll go and call someone to prepare the carriage!"
After saying that, he was about to run out first.
But the figure quickly stopped.
He then took a few steps back, his voice surprised and flustered: "Madam!"
Then, Madam Meng strode in with Lin Mama and several others.
Lin's mother shouted at her sternly, "How dare you offend Madam!"
Xiao Yue'er dared not speak. Seeing everyone staring at her intently, she knew she couldn't escape, so she knelt down on the ground with a thud.
Wei Wei's heart sank as she looked at Madam Meng, who was now standing before her, and narrowed her eyes slightly.
They've definitely come with ill intentions.
Wei Wei said, "I originally wanted to go back to my parents' home, and Zhi Xuan also thought we could go see my parents together."
Hearing these words, Madam Meng laughed sarcastically: "My son has devoted his heart to you, but unfortunately you are someone who can't be presented in public."
"Now that he's gone, you're deliberately saying these things. Do you think no one has seen through your hypocrisy?"
She applied rouge, making her appear even more glamorous.
However, the mockery on his face completely ruined that beauty.
Hearing what she said, Wei Wei blinked, concealing all the hatred in her eyes.
When she opened her eyes again, she had returned to calm.
“Mother, please be careful with your words. Your daughter-in-law has never done any of the things you described.”
"If there's nothing else, I'll have someone arrange a carriage and send someone to look for Zhixuan."
Madam Meng sneered, "No need. He has other matters to attend to and specifically sent someone to invite me over to inform you."
After saying this, he looked down at Granny Chun, who was trembling not far away: "I really can't believe it. Even Granny Chun has to kneel down to serve you. You have quite the influence!"
Granny Chun stammered, unable to say anything, before finally managing an ugly smile: "This old servant did it voluntarily...voluntarily."
Madam Lin glanced at her and scolded, "Aren't you afraid of embarrassing the old lady by saying such things! At your age, and being by the old lady's side, no one would object if you were to reprimand the ignorant young mistress!"
That's quite the show.
Granny Chun moved her lips as if she wanted to retort, but in the end she didn't dare. She smiled awkwardly and didn't answer. She got up and hid in a corner.
Wei Wei didn't interrupt, and only laughed after they finished speaking: "How dare your daughter-in-law act arrogantly in front of you, Mother? Since Granny Chun has been assigned to my courtyard, she should be punished for her mistakes."
