Chapter 64 The Brave Man Who Came to Our Door

Third Brother's expression changed drastically. He had fallen very badly, and without thinking about anything else, he immediately turned around and chased after the fall.

Only when he pulled the person into his arms did he see Jiang Changhe's unnaturally pale face and bluish-purple lips!

You must have fallen somewhere!

Although he was annoyed by his cousin's willfulness, he wouldn't really ignore her.

Without daring to delay any longer, he grabbed the person and rushed out.

The remaining four officers exchanged glances and took a few steps back, but were quickly stopped by Xiao Qiao'er who ran out.

"Sir, don't leave! Our young mistress wants to report a crime!"

Upon hearing this, the officials' expressions were indescribable.

They had witnessed what had just happened, but had to cooperate for some reason.

Now that the troublemakers have left, they've left these people behind without any mercy.

The tall, thin officer pursed his lips and forced a smile, saying, "These are all misunderstandings. I think you can resolve this privately."

With her hair disheveled and her clothes stained with blood, Wei Wei stepped forward step by step: "I don't agree to settle this privately. Will the officials abuse their power and protect each other?"

Her eyes held a hint of mockery, while the onlookers behind her stared at them without blinking.

The group felt immense pressure and also felt incredibly unlucky.

They certainly dared not say anything inappropriate, and only vaguely replied, "How could that be? Our prefect of Loucheng is the most fair and just!"

Wei Wei breathed a sigh of relief: "Then I'm relieved. Please wait a moment, sir. I'll go change my clothes. My maid will take this one with me to report to the authorities; it can be considered evidence later."

After saying that, he called out and turned to walk into the courtyard.

The officials looked ashamed as if they were constipated, but they could only stand there and wait.

The surroundings were chaotic, and the tall, thin figure that had been hiding in the corner finally emerged from the shadows.

He was still wearing light-colored robes, his face as striking as ever.

At that moment, the other pebble in his hand was casually tossed to the ground.

Leng Pusheng quietly approached and whispered, "Have you seen it, Master? Miss Wei is also having a very difficult time. I hope you will not interfere in the future."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Yu raised an eyebrow, clearly unaware that one of his subordinates possessed such audacity.

Once the figure was completely out of sight, he slowly turned his head back: "What did I do to make this happen? Hmm?"

Leng Pusheng choked, his voice unconsciously lowering slightly: "Isn't this a rhetorical question? Have you forgotten about Madam Meng's matter?"

That's a rather assertive statement; it would have been even better if the expression had been more appropriate.

Looking at his seemingly cold but actually dull subordinate, Jiang Yu offered a rare insight: "Did Miss Wei blame you for letting Madam Meng escape?"

“No, that’s not true.” Leng Pusheng told the truth: “She’s just a kind person.”

Jiang Yu thought about it and agreed, so he didn't reject the statement.

However, he felt that he should add another sentence at the end.

"Madam Meng is more useful alive than dead."

Wei Wei hadn't quite grasped what he meant at first, but then she suddenly understood.

She has always been very intelligent.

Thinking of this, Jiang Yu couldn't help but smile.

But the thought of her covered in blood just now made her seem extremely offensive.

He sighed, then flashed off towards the backyard.

Leng Pusheng didn't have time to stop him. He sighed inwardly and hurriedly followed.

After changing her clothes and having them taken away, Wei Wei did not go out again.

His body was already weak, and after this incident, he must be so angry that he can't even get out of bed.

Everyone understood her actions.

She even had her servants speak to her and tell her to get some rest.

If they need to testify before the prefect, they are willing to do so.

After having someone thank them for their kindness, Wei Wei lay back on the chaise lounge and didn't move.

She seemed extremely tired, lying motionless on the chaise longue for a long time, letting the maid beside her carefully apply medicine to her wounds.

As quiet as a cat with its claws tucked in.

From Jiang Yu's angle, he could see that her eyes were half-closed, and he wondered what she was thinking. Her eyelashes were so long that they seemed to be able to sweep into his heart.

His eyes softened, like a pool of water under the moonlight.

This made Leng Pusheng feel a bit superfluous.

In the end, all he could do was silently retreat a few steps into the darkness, leaving him standing there dumbfounded.

During this time, Wei Wei's parents rushed over, stayed with her for a while with concern, and were then kindly seen off by Wei Wei.

When it got a little darker, she called Xiaoyue'er to go find Leng Pusheng.

Xiao Yue'er's eyes were still a little swollen. After hearing her words, she couldn't help but advise, "You're not feeling well today, so you shouldn't go to the Qi residence."

Wei Wei smiled and said, "We've already agreed, how can you go back on your word?"

"My hand injury is not serious, go quickly."

Seeing that she couldn't reason with her, Xiaoyue could only leave the room with a gloomy face.

When he returned, his expression was somewhat strange.

"Brother Leng has diarrhea."

Wei Wei frowned upon hearing this: "What happened? Did you send him to see a doctor? Did he eat something wrong?"

Xiao Yue'er said, "I told him to rest, but he refused. If it weren't for his friend's promise to complete the task for him, he would still have come."

Wei Wei asked, "Brother Leng, are you having a friend's visit?"

Xiaoyue nodded, her tone somewhat worried: "But he was wearing a mask, and he looked fierce and menacing."

"This servant dared not agree, so I thought I would talk to you about it, Miss."

The people of Su Shou Tang are all unassuming and capable; those who can put Leng Pusheng at ease must be quite good.

After hesitating for a moment, Wei Wei made her decision: "Bring the person over."

The tall, thin figure was dressed in clothes similar to Leng Pusheng's, but upon closer inspection, it was easy to see that his wrists appeared to be shorter.

He wore a silver mask that covered his entire face.

The moonlight shone down, carrying an air of utter desolation.

Wei Wei suddenly realized that she needed to pay Leng Pusheng a salary.

It seems that although Su Shou Tang has a good reputation, its warehouse is not very full. Otherwise, how could this strong man not even have a piece of clothing that fits him?

I blame myself for never having thought of this before.

She turned her head to look at Xiaoyue beside her and whispered, "Go and get twenty taels of silver for this brave man to drink."

Little Moon quickly agreed and immediately turned back.

The strong man was perhaps a bit introverted; when Xiaoyue tried to put silver in his hand, he refused to accept it no matter what.

Wei Wei smiled and said, "Brave warrior, please accept it. That way, I'll feel more at ease."

Perhaps her words had an effect, for the strong man finally reached out his slender hand and accepted the silver.

Seeing his impolite manner, Wei Wei smiled and asked, "May I ask your surname, sir?"
