Chapter 89 Argument in the Temple

The inspector from the capital came to Loucheng specifically to investigate Prefect Liu.

Because someone accused him of abusing his power and disregarding human life in Loucheng.

"Who told you this news? Is it reliable?" Wei Wei looked at her and asked seriously.

Wei Cheng nodded: "The letter from the capital is addressed to my husband."

"Unfortunately, he doesn't understand at all now, so I'll have to take a look for him."

"However, this is not a secret. I guess Prefect Liu probably knows about it too."

Got it, then there will definitely be some action in the next day or two.

The two were whispering and plotting how to bring down Prefect Liu.

Suddenly, a startled cry came from outside, followed by a panicked shout from the young master Qi and his maid: "What are you doing?"

The conversation in the private room was interrupted, and Wei Cheng was the first to rush out anxiously.

This is the backyard of Ping'an Temple, where female worshippers who come to burn incense are resting.

An ordinary-looking woman frowned and pointed angrily at the young master of the Qi family, who was standing there at a loss for what to do, shouting, "You damned lecher!"

"Quickly, someone take him to the authorities!"

The maidservant stood in front of them anxiously and said, "My young master didn't do it on purpose! You all sneaked into our little courtyard without a word!"

The woman was extremely ugly: "Is this your home? I can go wherever I want!"

"He's the one harassing me now, so I'm going to hand him over to the authorities!"

Young Master Qi stood there looking completely at a loss until he saw Wei Cheng come out from inside, at which point he hid behind her with a wronged expression.

Wei Wei didn't go out, but she could see who came by looking through the window.

It was none other than Shao Yu, the daughter-in-law of Madam Wei, whom she had only met briefly!

What a coincidence!

Her eyes were downcast, and her lips were tightly pursed.

They also dared not go out casually and expose themselves.

Meng Zhixuan had just died, and Wei Cheng's husband had also become mentally impaired in the past few days.

If she were to see the two of them together here again, who knows what might happen.

Wei Cheng had obviously recognized the person who came.

A hint of sarcasm immediately appeared on her lips.

"So it's Mrs. Wei. Running into someone else's resting place and being so unreasonable, I'm afraid only you could do such a thing."

Shao Yu's face was filled with anger, and looking at Wei Cheng, she gritted her teeth even more: "So it was you."

"Is this your husband? The young master of the Qi family? He looks like an idiot."

"It's truly laughable!"

Young Master Qi's eyes reddened; he was clearly very angry upon hearing this.

Wei Cheng patted his hand reassuringly, her expression unchanged: "What? Are you envious that I have a husband, and you don't?"

"It's quite obvious that you're feeling lonely and empty without a man's touch."

"Even a beautiful woman can become an unwanted, haggard housewife in such a short time!"

Shao Yu's face turned even uglier, and she cursed, "You shameless woman! I'll tear your filthy mouth apart!"

Wei Cheng laughed: "Shameless? Who went into someone else's courtyard to harass their husband?"

"What a pity! A woman like you, with no breasts and a bland face, is simply not interested in any man!"

These words ignited all the anger in Shao Yu's heart.

Her expression turned ferocious, and if it weren't for the maid beside her stopping her, she might have really stepped forward and started fighting with Wei Cheng.

However, she struggled for a while in the hands of the maid beside her before losing her strength, and her face turned bluish.

"Young Madam, you haven't fully recovered yet, so don't get angry with these uncouth people."

The maidservant whispered, "Why don't I accompany you to another place to relax?"

Shao Yu, her face ashen, gasped for breath. Seeing that she had no strength left, she could only kick the maid beside her hard and roar, "No need!"

After saying that, he gave Wei Cheng a vicious look before turning around and striding out.

Wei Wei, who was watching from the shadows, saw her unusual behavior clearly and took her appearance very seriously.

Just as she was thinking about something, Wei Cheng pulled Young Master Qi inside.

Young Master Qi was scolded and felt very down. He lowered his head and hid behind Wei Cheng, looking heartbroken.

Wei Cheng coaxed him a few times, then prepared to say goodbye and leave.

Wei Wei didn't linger, but called out to her again as she walked out the door.

"I think Shaoyu must have come here for a purpose."

"During this period, you must keep a close eye on Young Master Qi and make sure he and Shao Yu do not meet alone again."

Wei Cheng's face darkened: "You think?"

"I think she's testing Young Master Qi; she must have heard something."

Third Master and Jiang Changhe have left, leaving Shaoyu isolated and helpless.

Even though she had caused her husband's family to be ruined, she was still afraid in her heart.

She wanted to find an ally, but the ally had become abnormal, and she was definitely unwilling to accept this and wanted to find out what was going on.

Wei Cheng nodded with a serious face, and then reminded her, "If there's anything you need help with, just let me know."

Wei Wei agreed and watched as she and Young Master Qi left hand in hand.

——

Their concerns were valid.

Not long after returning from Ping'an Temple, officials arrived.

They specifically requested that Ma Bao and his wife, along with Wei Wei, go to the prefect's residence together.

Ma Bao probably drank the Meng Po soup and crossed the Meng Po Bridge by now, so naturally he can't go to see her.
