Chapter 110 The Dawn and “His” Anger

Chapter 110 The Dawn and “His” Anger

The morning light and "his" anger

The first rays of morning light pierced the darkness, spilling onto the platform of the ancient well. Li Jiuyou awoke to a feeling of warmth and comfort. The sharp pain and chill in his back had lessened considerably, and his mind felt calmer than ever before, as if protected by some gentle force all night. He sighed comfortably and subconsciously tried to stretch, only to find himself holding something in his arms.

It feels slightly cool, delicate and smooth, with a faint, familiar cold fragrance of ice and snow...

Li Jiuyou opened his eyes drowsily, his red-gold pupils still showing the confusion of just waking up, and then - he met Jiang Xuelan's ice-blue eyes that were so close to him!

Jiang Xuelan had clearly woken up long ago, or perhaps he hadn't slept much at all. He had been sitting there all night, with Li Jiuyou holding his wrist and leaning against him. Now, he looked at him expressionlessly with his eyes downcast. Only his jade-like earlobes shone a barely perceptible red in the morning light.

Li Jiuyou's brain froze for three seconds.

Three seconds later, he suddenly realized his current position—almost half of his body was leaning against Jiang Xuelan! His head was resting on her shoulder! Both of his hands were tightly holding one of her wrists! And Jiang Xuelan...had let him hold her like that all night?!

“Boom——!” A surge of hot blood suddenly rushed to the top of the head!

Jiang Xuelan clearly felt the other party's sudden burst of embarrassment and panic, which was enough to blow the roof off!

“Fuck!” Li Jiuyou flinched as if he’d been burned by a branding iron! The excessive movement strained the wound on his back, causing him to grimace in pain and gasp! He frantically released Jiang Xuelan’s wrist, as if it were some kind of monster. His cheeks, ears, and neck were all red, and he even stuttered as he spoke: “You…you you you! Why are you here?! Who told you to get so close?! I’m innocent!!”

Jiang Xuelan slowly moved his arms, which were numb from being hugged, and stood up expressionlessly. He brushed off the non-existent dust on his sleeves, and said in the same calm voice as always: "It was you who held on to me. If I wasn't afraid that you would go crazy and affect the blood contract, I would have left long ago." His tone was calm, as if the person who allowed the other party to rely on him and even quietly continued to output a little immortal power to comfort the other party last night was not him.

Li Jiuyou seemed to have caught a glimpse of the subtlest hint of…speechlessness and ridicule beneath the other person's calm surface? This made him even more ashamed and angry!

"Bullshit! How could I possibly hold onto you? You, that icy-faced guy, must have taken advantage of me being injured!" Li Jiuyou leaped to his feet (if his back hadn't hurt, he might have actually jumped up), trying to cover up his guilt and embarrassment with a louder voice. His emotions of "It's over, it's so embarrassing!" surged.

"Oh?" Jiang Xuelan raised an eyebrow slightly, her icy blue eyes sweeping across Li Jiuyou's blood-red ears. Her tone remained flat, "Do I need to ask Man Gu and A Che to testify? Who was it that grabbed my wrist and said 'Don't go' last night?"

Li Jiuyou: “!!!”

He...he said that?!

Jiang Xuelan gave a positive emotional response, even with a hint of bad intentions like "Do you need me to imitate your tone at that time?" (although Jiang Xuelan's face remained expressionless).

Li Jiuyou was instantly petrified, as if struck by lightning, his head practically smoking! He wished he could dig a hole and bury himself right there!

"Pfft——" Ache, who had been watching the whole process from the side, finally couldn't help laughing out loud, and then quickly covered his mouth.

Man Gu tried hard to hold back his laughter, his shoulders shrugging.

Xingtong laughed so hard that the tentacles under her skirt were shaking.

Xuan Jia slowly stuck his head out and said, "Young man, don't be so angry. It's not good for your recovery."

Li Jiuyou glared fiercely at the guys who were watching the fun, and finally turned his murderous gaze back to Jiang Xuelan, but when he met the other party's cold eyes that seemed to see through everything, he felt inexplicably short of breath, and finally could only roar in a cowardly manner: "What are you looking at! Let's go! Are we going to stay in this broken place until we grow hair?!" After that, he covered his back which was still aching slightly, and almost walked towards the downhill road in a panic, his back revealing a sense of fleeing.

Jiang Xuelan watched his awkward figure from behind. A fleeting, almost imperceptible smile flashed across his icy blue eyes, but he quickly regained his composure. He followed, his gaze sweeping toward the towering Immortal Gate in the distance. His expression grew solemn once more. A glimpse of the truth had been revealed, but the road ahead remained shrouded in mystery. And this irascible and awkward ally (?) beside him... He touched the lingering warmth on his wrist, a complex feeling.
