Chapter 18 Shang Yan, You're Pushing Me Along

Seeing that Shang Yan had calmed down, Zhou Ping breathed a sigh of relief and picked up his chopsticks to put more food in Shang Yan's bowl.

Before he could even pick up his second bite of food, Shang Yan, snapping out of his reverie, said earnestly, "I was thinking about you."

"..." Zhou Ping paused for a moment as he was putting food into Shang Yan's bowl. He then casually placed the food in Shang Yan's bowl and gave a soft "hmm".

There was way too much food prepared; even though Shang Yan ate until his stomach was completely full, he still couldn't finish it all.

"Can I take it to go?" Shang Yan asked, putting down his chopsticks and letting out a burp. "It's delicious!"

His sincere praise made Zhou Ping's red ears twitch. "Yes, I'll pack it up for you later so you can take it home and eat it."

He got up to get the packaging box, but Shang Yan made way for him.

Just as Zhou Ping was packing food for Shang Yan, Shang Qingqian, who had gone to get medicine, finally returned. Seeing her younger brother grinning foolishly, Shang Qingqian covered her face with her hands.

Fortunately, it was Zhou Ping who apologized. Zhou Ping is gentle and genuinely considers Shang Yan a friend. If it had been someone else, Shang Qingqian couldn't even imagine how unpleasant the scene would have been.

"Zhou Ping, thank you so much." Shang Qingqian placed the medicine on the table and took out a bottle of mineral water from her backpack.

"Xiao Yan didn't say anything more, did he? If he did, don't hold it against him," Shang Qingqian said, coughing slightly, a little embarrassed. "If what he said was really too much, just hit him a few times to vent your anger."

When Shang Yan, who was listening in, heard Shang Qingqian say this, his eyes widened.

"Are you going to hit me?" He was exceptionally good at grasping the key points, catching Zhou Ping off guard.

Seeing Shang Yan's resentful look, Zhou Ping quickly said, "No, sister is just trying to scare you."

Shang Yan nodded in satisfaction after hearing his explanation.

Shang Qingqian chuckled as she watched the two talking, then pushed the medicine in front of Shang Yan, saying, "It's time to take your medicine, little brother."

Shang Yan looked at the medicine bottle in front of him with a face full of refusal, waving his hands repeatedly, "Sister, I feel great right now, I don't want to take it."

"Get lost! I already know that you just acknowledged Zhou Ping as your wife!" Shang Qingqian took a deep breath. She thought Zhou Ping was being incredibly magnanimous by not pursuing the matter.

After being yelled at by his sister, Shang Yan immediately became much more obedient. "I'll eat, I'll eat now."

Shang Yan knew exactly how much medicine he should take and what the dosage was. After obediently taking the medicine, he gulped down several mouthfuls of water.

Zhou Ping had been keeping an eye on Shang Yan's movements, and he breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that Shang Yan had finished taking his medicine.

"Are you going to stay here a little longer?" Seeing that Shang Yan had taken his medicine, Shang Qingqian reached out and touched the tuft of hair on Shang Yan's head. She kept giving Shang Yan meaningful glances, her eyes practically rolling to the sky.

Let's go home, little brother. Don't cause trouble for others here. Didn't you see Zhou Ping's face is all red with embarrassment?

Moreover, the people around her were looking at her strangely. Shang Qingqian was restless. What happened after she left?

Shang Yan must have done something again!

"I want to stay a little longer," Shang Yan said, moving closer to Zhou Ping. He asked, somewhat puzzled, "Sis, why are you rolling your eyes?"

Shang Qingqian:...

Well, I've tried to fool the blind man with my eyes.

"I still have some work to do..." Shang Qingqian looked at Zhou Ping, who had been squeezed to the side of the seat by Shang Yan, with some difficulty. "Isn't this too much trouble?"

“No trouble at all.” Zhou Ping noticed Shang Qingqian’s gaze and looked up earnestly, “I will keep an eye on him.”

"Thank you so much, Xiaoyan is so lucky to have you as a friend." Shang Qingqian felt a little embarrassed for always troubling Zhou Ping. Then she turned around and saw her younger brother squeezing next to Zhou Ping.

Shang Qingqian closed her eyes, deciding to ignore it altogether.

"Then I'll be going now?" she said, picking up her bag and getting up to leave.

"Goodbye, sister. You don't need to pick me up tonight. Zhou Ping will take me home!" Shang Yan waved to Shang Qingqian's retreating figure.

Zhou Ping was squeezed into a corner with nowhere left to retreat. He said helplessly, "Shang Yan, you're crowding me."

"Oh," Shang Yan said, unmoved, and placed his hand on Zhou Ping's slightly tense thigh.

Zhou Ping tensed up. He reminded Shang Yan once, but Shang Yan still didn't move away, so he didn't dare to say anything more.

Zhou Ping remained silent, keeping his head down and refusing to look at the people around him.

"Is the restaurant very busy?" Shang Yan reached out and tapped Zhou Ping's arm. His gaze was now looking around the restaurant; the previous group of people who had finished eating had already left.

Now a few more people have come in here, here and there.

"We get busier on weekends and holidays, but most of our customers are regulars on weekdays," Zhou Ping explained, following his gaze.

"Oh, it seems like you're working today..."

“It’s alright. My third uncle said that I don’t need to go now that you’re here. I can stay with you.” Zhou Ping said, somewhat puzzled, as Shang Yan stood up.

Then he saw Shang Yan take the broom that was placed in the corner by the door and start sweeping the floor diligently.

Is he sick again? Did he just take medicine?

Zhou Ping walked over with some concern. Shang Yan had swept the trash and dust off the ground, and when he saw Zhou Ping coming over, he smiled with narrowed eyes, "I'll help you with the work!"

“From now on, I’ll come to see you and help you with your work, so you can rest a little longer!” His chestnut-colored, slightly soft hair fell in front of his eyes, and his eyes were exceptionally clear and bright. When he looked at Zhou Ping, his pupils reflected his image.

From this perspective, it seems as if Shang Yan only has eyes for him.

Knock knock—

Knock knock—

Zhou Ping's brows and eyes slowly relaxed, and he reached out to touch Shang Yan's head. "Hmm, you did very well."

"Hehehe..." Shang Yan leaned closer and whispered, "If I wash the bowls and plates, will you give me a kiss?"

While Zhou Ping was still in a daze, Shang Yan ran to the kitchen and said in a clear voice, "Third Uncle, I'll help you wash the dishes!"

[Host, your memory lapse has lasted a bit too long this time.] 019 watched as Shang Yan snatched the plate from his third uncle's hand, wrung out a rag, rinsed it with cold water, and began washing the dishes at lightning speed.

It takes at least an hour for the medicine to take effect.

Third Uncle was taken aback. "Oh my, what are you doing here? Wasn't Zhou Ping with you?"

I must say, his dishwashing skills are amazing; he washes the dishes quickly and cleanly.

Of course, Shang Yan couldn't tell anyone what had just happened. He said excitedly, "Third Uncle, you've worked hard washing the dishes. I'm young, I have plenty of strength!"

"I'll do the washing!" He was as enthusiastic as if he had drunk several bottles of wine, washing the dishes and plates with great interest, no matter what his third uncle said.

Seeing Shang Yan come over to help with the work, Third Uncle sighed, "It's so good to be young..."

After washing dishes for an hour, Shang Yan looked at the plates in his hands and fell into deep thought.
