Chapter 12 Do you know what I'm lacking right now?

"Is there really such a good thing?" Shang Yan didn't stand on ceremony with Zhou Ping and immediately put his head on Zhou Ping's shoulder.

Just then, the bus jolted, and he bumped into Zhou Ping's shoulder, his ear turning red from the impact.

“…Maybe we shouldn’t lean on it?” Zhou Ping’s eyes flickered as he looked at Shang Yan, who was rubbing his ear.

Shang Yan's eyes lit up, as if he had thought of something, "Brother, would you be willing to make a sacrifice?"

Zhou Ping:...?

Zhou Ping's eyelids twitched, thinking that Shang Yan was about to start another abstract speech.

Seeing that Zhou Ping didn't answer, Shang Yan took it as a tacit agreement. He suddenly bumped into Zhou Ping's arms, pressed his face against his chest, adjusted to a comfortable position, and closed his eyes.

The soft breaths of the person in his arms sprayed onto him, and Zhou Ping stiffened slightly. Seeing that Shang Yan had really fallen asleep holding him like this, he sighed softly.

What else can we do?

I had no choice but to accept my fate and hold him.

"Host, aren't you touched? This journey has been so bumpy. Zhou Ping used to come see you every month, and it would take him two hours to get here," 019 said to Shang Yan before he fell asleep.

"Brother, you're awesome! You're absolutely tough!" Shang Yan exclaimed, his voice brimming with admiration.

019 genuinely laughed this time. [Did we go off-topic...?]

Sometimes I'm inexplicably amused by Shang Yan's abstract remarks.

[...], Shang Yan was too exhausted to speak.

He hadn't been out for a long time, and sitting in the car made him a little dizzy. Leaning against Zhou Ping, smelling the boy's fresh scent, he fell asleep without realizing it...

He slept soundly the whole way and didn't wake up until they arrived at their destination.

"Shangyan, we've arrived." Zhou Ping patted Shangyan to make sure he was awake before getting up and pulling the dazed Shangyan out of the car.

"It's just a short walk from here to your Sunshine Community." Zhou Ping took out his old-fashioned mobile phone from his pocket and checked the time: 2:23 PM, seven minutes earlier than expected.

"Will you take me home?" Shang Yan tugged at Zhou Ping's hand. "I heard from my sister that Mom and Dad are waiting at home and have prepared lots of delicious food. Why don't you come back with me?"

Good brothers should eat together.

Shang Yan stared longingly at Zhou Ping.

“I promised to go to my third uncle’s place to wash dishes at three o’clock this afternoon…” Zhou Ping walked beside Shang Yan.

Besides... that's Shang Yan's house, wouldn't it be inappropriate for him to go there?

"There's still more than half an hour until three o'clock. Come home with me, okay? I really want to eat with you. It's been so long since we ate together," Shang Yan said expectantly. Then he added, "Do you know what I'm missing right now?"

Zhou Ping's eye twitched. He vaguely knew what Shang Yan was going to say, but he still followed up by asking, "What's missing?"

"I'm missing you!" Shang Yan suddenly grabbed Zhou Ping's hand and led him towards his home in Sunshine Community. "Let's go, let's go home!"

Zhou Ping was taken aback by Shang Yan's speech. A hint of amusement flickered in his eyes as he followed Shang Yan and ran alongside him.

As soon as Shang Yan got downstairs, he saw his parents waiting for him.

Seeing Shang Yan running over with Zhou Ping, Shen Yu wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes. "Xiao Yan is back?"

"Xiao Zhou, thank you so much for bringing Xiao Yan over. Qing Qian really had something come up on the way..." Shang Chen stepped forward and patted Zhou Ping on the shoulder.

"You're welcome, Uncle Shang." Zhou Ping's ears turned slightly red after being thanked, and he lowered his head.

"Mom, Zhou Ping and I are back. Shall we have dinner together?" Shang Yan stepped forward and hugged Shen Yu first, then hugged Shang Chen.

Seeing that her youngest son was still as cheerful and lively as before, Shen Yu wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes again. "Hey, let's eat together. Xiao Zhou, shall we go upstairs together?"

"Aunt Chen, I have to go to work this afternoon..." Zhou Ping smiled shyly, "I probably can't stay too long."

"Then come over to my place for a bit," Shang Chen patted Zhou Ping on the shoulder again, smiling kindly, "You've grown taller again?"

"Okay." Zhou Ping nodded, and at Shang Yan's urging, he went upstairs with the Shang family.

Upon entering the house and seeing the dishes on the table, Shang Yan's eyes lit up. "Hey, hey, hey, these are all my favorite dishes!"

"Go wash your hands, then you can eat," Shen Yu said with a smile, pushing the two children to the sink.

Shang Yan washed his hands carefully, and seeing Zhou Ping standing behind him, he simply reached out and pulled Zhou Ping's hands over to wash them together.

Shang Yan: "Hehe..."

Zhou Ping was taken aback when he saw Shang Yan's sudden smile. Shang Yan always seemed happy. Zhou Ping slightly tugged at the corners of his mouth and smiled back at Shang Yan.

"Huh? You actually smiled?" That's really something.

After saying this in surprise, Shang Yan turned around and rummaged through the kitchen cabinet, and sure enough, he found a blue and pink plastic food container.

After arriving at the table with Zhou Ping, Shang Yan opened the clean food box and began filling it with dishes.

"Hey, Xiaoyan, why did you find your old lunchbox?" Shen Yu asked gently when she saw Shang Yan take out his old lunchbox from junior high school.

After Shang Yan left, Shen Yu placed his food box in the most conspicuous place in the kitchen.

"Mom, if Zhou Ping is in a bit of a rush to get back after eating, I'll pack some food for him to take home and eat," Shang Yan said, closing the food container after packing the food.

He packed Zhou Ping all of the following dishes: scrambled eggs with tomatoes, sweet and sour pork ribs, crab sticks with eggplant, hot and sour shredded potatoes...

Shang Yan glanced at the tall, thin Zhou Ping again, and asked hesitantly, "Is there not enough to eat?"

There's no reason to not feed your brother when he comes to your house. Shang Yan waved his hand and was about to take out a box to fill Zhou Ping's meal.

Zhou Ping reached out to stop him, "There's enough to eat, plenty... Uncle San has food."

Shang Yan glanced at the clock; it was already 2:45 PM. "Should we leave now?"

"Yes, it'll be too late if we don't leave now." Zhou Ping took the lunchbox Shang Yan handed him. "Goodbye, Uncle and Aunt."

"Hey, you're leaving after only sitting for a short while?" Shen Yu quickly got up and saw Zhou Ping to the door.

"You must come to our house for dinner another day!" Shang Chen stood up to see you off. "If you're too shy to come, Uncle will have Shang Yan bring you food!"

"Thank you, Uncle and Auntie." Zhou Ping's eyes lit up with a smile, feeling the kindness of Shang's parents.

"What about me? What about me?" Shang Yan squeezed in. "Aren't we best brothers?"

Why don't you thank him?

"Well, thank you too." Zhou Ping reached out and stroked the messy tuft of hair on Shang Yan's head before walking away under the watchful eyes of the Shang family.
