Double Scum Combination

Double Scum Combination

The robbers had control of his carotid artery. If the guards rushed in, the robbers would be desperate and their chances of saving him would be practically zero. So he had no choice but to lower his voice and tell the truth.

But this truth angered me: "How dare you say I'm ugly?"

His eyes looked somewhat unsure: "No, it's because the guards all know my character."

Pah! You have no integrity? Your integrity is cold-blooded and ruthless, treating human life like dust. Your integrity is sitting in a luxurious office, sipping tea and twirling a gold pen, casually issuing a few orders and turning the world upside down. Doesn't it hurt when a knife pierces flesh? When you cut someone's flesh, did you ever think about whether they felt pain? You look like a human being, but you do inhuman things!

When enemies meet, their eyes blaze with hatred. I wish I could pin him to the ground right now and beat him mercilessly, stomp on his face with my worn-out sneakers, and ask him how it feels to be treated like an ant!

My mind raced up and down in an instant, but reason stopped me from making any unnecessary moves. I pulled a roll of military backpack strap from my back and threw it in front of him: "Untie it, tie it around your waist, and make sure it's tight. Your life is in your own hands."

He slowly loosened his clenched fist, turned his head to avoid the sharp edge of the dagger, and said softly, "Miss, tell me what you want, we can talk. There's no need to make things unmanageable."

I gave a cold laugh: "We do want to talk, but not here. Don't waste time. I'll give you one minute. If you don't tie it properly, you'll have a few more cuts on your neck. I'm a desperate criminal; no tricks will work on me. Hurry up!"

I've been inside for several minutes now, and there's been no movement at the door, but if it goes on any longer, it'll definitely arouse suspicion. I only knocked Xiao Lu unconscious, tied her up, and stuffed her under the bed in the inner room. Once she wakes up, I'll have no way out but to fight back.

With a forceful thrust of the dagger into his neck, blood gushed out. He finally moved, untied the backpack strap, and tied one end around his waist: "As long as it doesn't endanger the base's security, I can grant your request."

I was going to slap him, and I even raised my hand when I suddenly remembered his psychological defenses. Slapping him would hurt his self-esteem too much, so I decided to try something else. I grabbed his ear hard and said, "If you're done tying your hair, go to the window and shut up."

I pulled him to his feet, and he stood up sideways, biting his lower lip in an attempt to look at me. I realized that this position made him look like a mother carrying her naughty son, which was even more hurtful to his self-esteem. But time was ticking away, and I couldn't care less. I pushed him to the window, opened the glass, and a gust of cold wind made us both shiver.

"Climb up, grab the window frame, and sink down."

His words and actions were befitting of a "big shot." He remained calm and composed when a crisis came, and even when he was surprised, he always controlled his volume: "Miss, this is the tenth floor."

I pulled two more backpack straps from my lower back and tossed them to him: "Open them up and tie them to the connector. The three straps together are nearly thirty meters long. You won't fall to your death. Hurry up!"

Suddenly there was a knock on the door: "Base Commander?"

The dagger, still attached to his neck, tightened its grip. I moved closer to him: "Die together?"

He exhaled and turned around, asking, "What is it?"

"Oh, it's nothing." There was silence at the door.

He fastened the backpack straps, checking them carefully again and again. I impatiently nudged him, and he finally resigned himself to climbing onto the windowsill. He wrapped the straps around his waist again, showing the first hint of nervousness I'd ever seen, constantly inhaling and exhaling. I pulled out some duct tape from my pocket, then thought better of it and stuffed it back in—heaven knows how much stuff I was carrying; it was making it uncomfortable to even sit on the sofa.

"If you make even the slightest sound during your descent, like knocking on the glass, I will immediately let go and let you fall to your death or be crippled. Not only can you not knock, but you must also avoid touching the glass. There are my men below, so don't even try to call for help when you reach a lower floor. He will take you out much faster than a sentry rushing over. I'll say it again: cooperate and you'll continue to be the base commander. Don't cooperate, and we'll all die together."

He was breathing heavily and obediently did as I said, because even when I climbed to a high place and stood on tiptoe, I never let the dagger leave his artery.

Before sinking, he asked me one last question: "Can you tell me who you are?"

"People, go down."

This answer startled him. He frowned and pondered for a moment, then slowly kicked his legs and lowered himself down into the whistling wind outside the tenth-floor window.

The base commander wasn't fat, but he still weighed around 130 or 140 pounds. I turned around, slung my backpack strap over my shoulder, and braced myself against the windowsill. I slowly released him, using the strength of my shoulders and back to hold on for two minutes. My palms were raw and bleeding. His office window was at the back of the building, with no buildings opposite and an airport in the distance. The sentries wouldn't have noticed someone falling unless they patrolled in circles.

As planned, the sentry was blocked at the building entrance by Gao Chen. Whether they were chatting peacefully or arguing and fighting, they wouldn't have time to patrol behind the building.

Six of the rooms in the same row were empty, and the three occupied rooms wouldn't be waiting in the freezing cold with the windows open and the lights off, just to rescue the base leader. But unexpected situations had to be considered. If he dared to call for help, or if he was discovered, I would immediately let go. If he fell, Da Gan would step forward and give him a quick death. It was a do-or-die situation; that was the plan before we came.

Just as the strap was almost at its end, I finally felt a lightness on my body. I quickly let go, threw the strap out the window, and saw that everything downstairs was normal, with no unusual noises. I closed the window tightly, drew the curtains, brushed my greasy hair, rubbed my face and eyes vigorously, and walked out the door.

I slipped out halfway through the door, my head bowed, and let out a suppressed sob. Turning back, I gripped the doorknob with one hand and clutched my clothes tightly with the other, bowing slightly towards the doorway. My voice trembled with tears as I said, "I know, Commander. Goodnight, Commander."

He then slammed the door shut, crossed his arms over his chest, and without even glancing at the guard, rushed to Xiao Lu's office as if he had been greatly frightened. He knocked twice, saying, "Deputy Base Commander, I'm coming in." He then pushed the door open and ran straight to the inner room. There, he found Xiao Lu still lying unconscious under the bed, her hair disheveled and looking like a ghost. He took out some duct tape, added a few more strips to her mouth, then frantically rubbed his eyes again before leaving the office.

"It's alright, it's alright. You should rest, Deputy Base Commander. I'll come to report to you again tomorrow. Good night."

My hair was greasy and messy, my eyes were bloodshot, my clothes were disheveled, and I was walking hurriedly. All the security guards in the corridor had their eyes on me, but no one said a word. It wasn't until I pressed the elevator button and saw that the digital clock showed 8:37 PM that I realized that from the moment I met Xiao Lu, I had completed a kidnapping operation with a difficulty level of 10,000 points in just 37 minutes.

I don't really care what the guards think of my performance, because I myself don't know what dramatic theme this random series of voices, lines, and gestures is trying to express. It's probably something like teasing and counter-teasing.

As soon as they went downstairs, they saw Gao Chen demonstrating combat techniques with a sentry in the lobby, while another person stood by with a gun, watching with great interest. Xiao Qing rolled her eyes and looked very unhappy.

"Sister-in-law, come on, let's go for a drive in your big Jeep!"

When Xiao Qing saw me come down, she immediately smiled and asked, "Finished talking? Where's my sister?"

"The deputy base commander is taking a break."

"What...what did you guys say?"

I went up to her, put my arm around her shoulder, and dragged her outside: "I'm in a good mood today, take me out for a drive, and I'll tell you the good news."

Xiao Qing couldn't help but purse her lips shyly and glance at Gao Chen, then said reproachfully, "Look at him, he's still the same as always. Even with amnesia, he can't forget his training and tactics. It's so annoying."

"Stop saying one thing and meaning another, let's go! I want to go for a drive in the countryside right now and let off some steam!"

"It's almost nine o'clock, curfew is about to start."

"There's still more than an hour left, we're not going far," I winked at her, "Besides, my cousin is with you, what are you afraid of!"

She looked at Gao Chen, "Are you going?"

When Gao Chen saw that I had come downstairs safely, he smiled from the bottom of his heart, his eyes bright as stars: "Go."

Xiao Qing was completely captivated by that smile and was so confused that she was carried away by the two of us. She ran to the parking lot to get her car and bumped into Da Gan, who was checking the wheels of a van with a flashlight. So I invited him to go for a drive. We set off without hesitation, and a few minutes later we were already speeding onto the airport road.

I was driving, and Xiao Qing was sitting in the passenger seat. She kept asking me, half-laughing and half-crying, "Why are you so happy? Slow down, slow down, even without a car, you should be careful."

I didn't say a single serious word, I just kept laughing. Laughter is contagious, and although Xiao Qing didn't know what I was laughing about, she laughed along with me. After a while, she grabbed me and said, "Say something! Say something!"

"Okay, I'll tell you after we get past the next intersection."

I managed to drive past three checkpoints, and the 507 checkpoint was just ahead. Xiao Qing stopped laughing and said, "We can't drive any further. If we do, we'll be heading out of Beijing. Turn around!"

"Okay, turn around." I glanced at the back seat.

Gao Chen said, "Xiao Qing."

"Um?"

A karate chop struck her neck, and she fainted. Gao Chen pulled over and dragged her to the back seat, then got into the passenger seat: "Let's change cars after we get past the checkpoint. She'll wake up and go back on her own."

I looked at Xiao Qing's slumped body and sighed helplessly: "She didn't actually do anything wrong, and she indirectly helped us a lot. Otherwise, how could we have caught two of them so easily? She'll probably be furious when she wakes up and finds out the truth. Now that I think about it, we're practically a double scumbag duo, using and then dumping each other. I even feel a little guilty."

Gao Chen didn't say anything, rolled up the rear window, and gestured towards the van. Da Gan stuck his head out, raised his hand, and gave an OK sign.

As the car entered the 507 checkpoint area, the officer on duty stopped us: "Where are you going?"

Gao Chen pointed to the pass on the windshield: "On duty."

The duty officer peered at the front of the vehicle for a long time before slowly pressing the remote control in his hand: "What kind of mission are you going out to carry out in the middle of the night?"

Although it was said to be the dead of night, it was only a little past nine o'clock. In the post-apocalyptic world, survivors had no entertainment and went to bed early, making the night seem even longer. I drove past the stall at a leisurely pace, and after driving a few dozen meters, I realized the van hadn't followed, so I quickly reversed a little.

The duty officer stopped Da Gan, refusing to let him leave: "Don't give me that nonsense. One vehicle, one pass. You can't pass without one."

I felt a little nervous when I realized the base commander was also in the car. Gao Chen had already gotten out and walked over: "Brother, he really was with me. The base commander assigned the mission in a hurry, and we didn't have time to get the pass. How about we get it tomorrow?"

"No way." The duty officer was unyielding. "Don't try to scare me by bringing up the base chief. The rules were set by the base chief. I won't let him pass without his certificate. So, I'm not wrong in the way of the base chief either."

Da Gan slammed his hand on the car door: "You'll take responsibility if the mission is delayed?"

The duty officer scoffed, "You have your task, and I have mine. My task is to stay here and follow the rules. Instead of arguing with me, why don't you go get your pass now and come back? I promise I won't stop you."

Da Gan panicked, slamming on the brakes and then flooring the gas pedal. The man quickly took two steps back, shouting, "What are you doing? You want to force your way in?" Several guards with guns swarmed around them.

Seeing that things were going badly, I stuck my head out and shouted back, "Gao Chen, get in the car. Da Gan, drive back, it's about a hundred or two meters away."

Although Da Gan was also a big guy, not very talkative, and a good fighter, he was not the same kind of person as Li Tonggu, who looked similar. He was quick-witted and knew how to handle things. As soon as he heard me say this, he immediately understood and put the car in reverse.

Gao Chen came over, and I gave him the driver's seat. I stood on the back door and used the footrest to hold onto the frame, signaling Gao Chen to drive slowly. Da Gan retreated to the fog about 200 meters away. The people at the checkpoint made a few sarcastic remarks before returning to their posts.

Caught off guard, the van suddenly sped out of the darkness, roaring like an engine stalling, and hurtled toward the gate lever at speeds exceeding 160 km/h, moving with lightning speed without a slam on the brakes.

"Ah! Running the checkpoint, running..." The duty officer thought Da Gan was going to run him over and jumped onto the toll platform in a panic. Before he could even say the second word "checkpoint," the barrier was smashed in two with a "bang."

No one dared to block the car; doing so would mean certain death. By the time the guards cocked their rifles and fired at the rear of the vehicle from several different directions, the van had already swerved past the jeep. Someone shouted, "Report to base quickly! We'll give chase! Get in the van and give chase!"

I took out the only melon I had in my pocket, which I'd been carrying for days, bit off the clasp, and threw it out without even pausing, yelling, "Go to hell, I'll blow you all up!"

As the grenade landed, the people at the checkpoint reacted. Some screamed and howled, while others lay down on the spot. Three seconds later, a loud "boom" erupted, followed by a dazzling burst of fire and billowing smoke. Bricks, aluminum alloy plates, and shards of glass shattered and scattered, lights went out, and screams continued.

I've wanted to throw it away for a while now. I wanted to throw it away the moment I left the Red Star Base. I've had enough of these days of flattery and hypocrisy. Anyway, the base chief has already been kidnapped. If Xiao Qing's sister can't keep things in check, chaos will still break out in the base. Let me be the first to set them off!

The explosion obscured our view, so we sped eastward, the flames receding into the distance behind us until they disappeared. After driving about ten kilometers, the two cars stopped by the roadside. Xiao Qing was still unconscious. Gao Chen and I turned off the engine, got out of the car, closed the door, and climbed into the van to begin our return journey.

The base commander sat in the back seat, strapped to his body and gagged with tape. Zhang Yanhuang held his arm with one hand and pressed a knife against his neck with the other. Both of them were strapped in and sat motionless, expressionless, as if they hadn't experienced the violent rampage, the high-speed chase, or the explosion.

Getting the base commander into the van was a huge undertaking, and that's when our 30-inch suitcase came in handy. I got the idea for this suitcase while I was wandering around, because I often saw people using suitcases to carry things to the North District to exchange supplies, and I thought it would be great for carrying people.

When Zhang Yanhuang and Gao Chen went to the headquarters building, Zhang Yanhuang took advantage of the darkness to first use a suitcase to drag Wu Zhongxiao, who had been in a coma for a long time, into the trunk. Then he used the suitcase to pick up the base commander who had fallen from the building. First, he used the standard equipment of ropes and tape to tie him up, then he tucked the person into the suitcase. He and Da Gan dragged him away, chatting and laughing. They encountered several groups of people along the way, but no one suspected anything. They successfully completed the transfer mission.

I leaned against the car window to the left of the base commander, feeling excited but also listless: "So tiring, much more tiring than killing zombies. I won't participate in any activities other than fighting and killing anymore. I'm not cut out for it."

Gao Chen turned around, looked at me, and smiled: "You did a very good job."

The base commander seemed to have not been able to see who was in the co-pilot's seat until now, when he recognized the person by their voice, he made two "uh-uh" sounds.

Gao Chen greeted him politely: "Base Commander, I am Guard Gao."

The base commander's pupils dilated, his body tensed, and it took him a long time to relax. I tilted my head to look at his reaction and laughed, "Don't make a fuss. It took us two months and two weeks to catch you, and that should be included in the compensation plan. Let me go back and get a good night's sleep, and we'll talk about it slowly."

Not far from the straight road, there's a fork in the road that can be used to confuse the enemy and also serves as our outer rendezvous point. Yu Zhongjian had deployed three teams of men to guard fixed locations from 9 PM to 3 AM every day, and after we left, they would intercept our pursuers. They had been lying in ambush for five or six days, working very hard.

Da Gan flashed his headlights three times, and a flashlight beam quickly appeared from the bushes beside the fork in the road, flashing three times as well. Da Gan stuck his head out and shouted, "I'm leaving get off work early today, guys!"

Several figures stood up and waved at us. Da Gan was smiling when he suddenly slammed on the brakes, slowed down, and stared at the left rearview mirror, saying, "There's a car following us."

I looked back, and the road was dark and empty; there were no vehicles in sight. "Anyone?"

“Yes,” Da Gan said confidently, “when I was driving slowly just now, he reversed.”

Gao Chen opened the car door and said, "Keep driving forward, take the fork in the road and hide." Then he jumped out.

The van drove onto a side road, turned around after 500 meters, and I irritably patted my pocket: "I didn't bring my little '92' either."

Zhang Yanhuang said, "The brothers who are there to provide backup have guns."

No sooner had I finished speaking than a gunshot pierced the night sky, followed by the screeching of tires screeching against the ground. I vaguely heard a woman's scream, then a loud bang shook the ground, and the surrounding area fell silent.

Five minutes later, Gao Chen, several backup team members, and I stood around a woman lying on the ground, bleeding profusely but barely breathing. Gao Chen had shot through her tires, causing her car to veer off course and crash into a roadside tree. The hood had been blown off, and the front of the car was deformed; it had clearly been badly damaged.

“We can’t keep going like this,” I said. “She won’t survive if we leave her here. Any zombie could easily devour her.”

Gao Chen sighed: "Take him back, saving his life is the priority."

Whether Xiao Qing chased after us after waking up, or whether she wasn't even unconscious and was planning a stalking counterattack, remains a mystery.
