Play with black bags
With such a clear analysis, how could I possibly disagree? Besides, Qian Shiqi has always been a thorn in my side, and the sooner I resolve this, the sooner I can have peace of mind.
We recently acquired several new vehicles, including two pickup trucks assigned to two teams specifically for handling situations where suitable supplies need to be transferred.
"Get moving, move everything!" I waved my hand and said fiercely, "Move everything that can be moved, completely extinguish this kid's hopes, and then catch him like a turtle in a jar! If he wants to make a comeback and cause chaos in Huaicheng, he'll have to ask our Veterans Hospital if they'll allow it first!"
Guo Yang whispered from the side, "Veterans Hospital sounds rather unimpressive. How about calling it Veterans Base? Sister Qi, you'll be our base commander."
I couldn't stand it: "What do you mean by 'chicken-growing-duck-growing'? Don't change our unit's name like that. Who knows, maybe one day when order is restored, the Veterans Hospital will still need to treat patients. We are a provincial-level unit. Does calling ourselves a 'base' make any sense?"
Old Wang chuckled and said, "With Sister Qi's dedication to her job, it would be unreasonable not to give her a position as dean once order is restored."
Yu Zhongjian snorted coldly: "Dean Qi, hurry up."
While moving the weapons, Gao Chen picked up a gun with a scope and couldn't put it down. He asked if he could be issued one, and I smiled and agreed. I really wanted to say, "Take whatever you want," but I was afraid of seeming too vulgar, so I swallowed my words.
After moving the weapons, a man was assigned to take them back to the hospital. The rest of the men, under Yu Zhongjian's strategic plan, were divided into groups based on the principle of combining old and new members and hidden at various entrances of the compound, waiting for Qian Shiqi to walk into their trap.
The window of the women's restroom on the second floor of the office building faced the main gate of the compound. I volunteered to take Lao Wang and Guo Yang to the front line of defense and stake out the women's restroom. I poked my gun barrel out of the window to make sure the range of fire could cover any creature coming in through the gate, with the idea of crippling that kid's other leg as soon as he walked in. And so began the long wait.
At first, they crouched down on either side of me, maintaining intense focus and staring intently at the door. As time passed, they squatted down an hour later, and sat down two hours later. Old Wang rubbed his back and complained incessantly, "Why aren't they here yet? I'm over forty years old, I really can't squat anymore."
As the sun set and a cold wave swept in, dusk approached. After holding on for more than three hours, I couldn't take it anymore. I ripped off the black cloth over my left eye: "Something's not right. Could Qian Shiqi have abandoned the stronghold and run away?"
Guo Yang said, "Why don't we go and talk to Captain Yu?"
Yu Zhongjian had said before that we should hold our positions and wait patiently. But after waiting for so long, my patience ran out. I couldn't stand it anymore, I got arrogant, and decided to talk to him and discuss whether to continue waiting or call it quits.
I left Lao Wang and a gun to guard the women's restroom entrance, and took Guo Yang downstairs. The first floor was dimly lit and quiet. We had only taken a few steps toward the door when we suddenly heard a muffled thud. Guo Yang didn't utter a sound and collapsed to the ground. My heart skipped a beat, but my reaction was quick. Without looking at him, I turned around abruptly and swung the gun.
Unfortunately, my opponent came prepared, and I was too slow. A rope was precisely looped around my neck, and with a sharp pull, it dragged me to the ground, and my tongue instantly lolled out.
The last smell I could detect through my nose was a foul, pungent smell of tobacco oil. As the rope tightened, the feeling of suffocation intensified. I couldn't speak, I couldn't smell anything, and even my vision blurred.
The attacker tightened the rope and approached me from behind, almost whispering in my ear: "You stole my things, injured my leg, and now you want to kill me?"
My head and face were throbbing from being strangled, and my ears were ringing. His voice sounded like a mosquito's buzz. I didn't have time to think about anything else. I had only one thought: say more, say more. Villains always die from talking too much.
But this villain didn't play by the rules. He roared, "If you don't give me a way out, then we'll all die together!" With that, he tightened his grip even more, accompanied by a deliberately suppressed, vicious laugh, like a demon that could snatch away souls.
I felt like my eyes were bulging out, my tongue was numb with pain, my lungs felt like they were about to burst, I was desperately clinging to his arms with both hands, and my legs were kicking wildly, but I was getting weaker and weaker. Gradually, I couldn't kick anymore, and my head started to spin.
Instead of becoming a hero by charging into the zombie horde with the drug-injecting pack strapped to me, I died ambush by a villain in a dark, cleaned-up hall. My death was sudden and silent. I am truly unwilling to accept it!
Just then, a gunshot rang out from somewhere. The rope around my neck loosened instantly, and the life-saving air rushed into my mouth and nose, like a knife covered in mustard suddenly stabbing into my throat and lungs, even more painful than suffocation. I lay on my back, my limbs limp, only able to cough muffledly, my face burning hot, and my throat burning with pain.
But I was exhilarated. How could I possibly die? I had gathered a huge gang of monsters around me, risking my life to kill corpses and save people, and I had just become the acting leader of the gang. How could I not have a protagonist's halo?
I coughed and laughed with difficulty. "Grandson, did you hear that? That's the sound of justice, the sound of warning shots. My brothers are here to save me. Your end is near!"
"Damn it!" the man cursed under his breath, roughly grabbing my hair and pulling me up. He then tucked my neck, which had just recovered a little, into his arm and dragged me out. "You stupid Yu Yu is a complete mad dog! I'll curse your ancestors for eighteen generations!"
He said... Yu Yu?
When we reached the porch, the dragging motion turned into a pushing motion. He stood to the side behind me, his right hand gripping my neck tightly to prevent me from sliding down, while his left hand produced a Type 92 police rifle from somewhere and swung it in three directions.
To my dismay and dismay, none of my brothers were in the courtyard outside the office building; in fact, there wasn't a single one.
What was that gunshot? I was still feeling dizzy and weak from lack of oxygen, so I could only let him hold me down and listen to his arrogant and boastful voice: "Yu Yu, don't hide! Don't you recognize me? Have you forgotten the friendship where I covered your grave after you killed someone? Have you forgotten the days you hid from the police in my pigsty? Come out and kill me! You damn treacherous villain, stabbing me in the back, if you have the guts, stop playing the coward and come out and face me! I'll tell you the truth, I not only kidnapped your woman, but I also strapped a bomb to my body!" With that, the gun barrel turned and pressed directly against my temple.
The surroundings were quiet and no one responded. The villain kept looking around warily, always keeping his head behind mine.
"Trying to ambush and kill me? You're not capable enough!"
"You're not coming out, huh? I'll show you how your little lover dies in a minute!"
"Let me tell you, Yu Yu, if you don't pay back what you owe me, I'll make you suffer a fate even worse than this little wench's!"
He spewed out threats one after another, but it seemed like I was the only audience. From the time he attacked me and Guo Yang until now, only four or five minutes had passed. Although I was extremely unwell, I was still capable of fighting him in this critical moment. However, with the cold barrel of the gun pressed against my head, no matter if I tried to headbutt him, kick him from behind, gouge his eyes, or even bite him with my teeth, I couldn't outrun him pulling the trigger.
Strangely, no one showed up, yet he didn't try to take me hostage and escape. Our van and SUV were parked in the yard, but he didn't even glance at them, only keeping me pressed against the wall of the office building. A gun was sometimes pointed at my head, sometimes pointed left and right, and he was panting heavily between shouts of abuse.
As dusk settled, the scene in the courtyard gradually became indistinct. About a minute or two later, a figure appeared swaying in the northwest direction.
"Hahahaha, I thought you were going to play dumb and watch this woman die!" The man behind him laughed wildly, then suddenly raised his hand and fired a gun in that direction.
He was too fast, and I didn't have time to react. After two gunshots rang out, my heart tightened, and without thinking, I slammed my head back with all my might.
The man screamed in agony, but instead of loosening his grip as I had hoped, he tightened it even more, and pounded the gun he had just fired at my temple: "You bitch, you dead woman! You've got a death wish!"
My throat was constricted, my head was smashed and I was seeing stars, but I still managed to look northwest. When I saw that the figure was still standing there safely, I was slightly relieved.
"Let her go, and I'll let you leave." The person who came was indeed Yu Zhongjian, and he was the only one there.
The man behind him laughed smugly: "What's wrong? Got your sweetheart? I knew she was useful the moment I saw you bring this little wench in. How many people did you lay in wait for me? You think I'm stupid?"
Yu Zhongjian slowly walked forward. Although his expression was unclear, the sound of the metal lighter switch indicated that he was calm and composed.
"I keep my word."
"I don't believe it!" A rough, hoarse voice roared in my ear. "You gather your troops, I gather mine. I didn't provoke you, and you actually attacked me and destroyed my base? Yu Yu, I only knew you were a ruthless person before, but today I realize you're also a villain! I deliberately didn't leave. I'm not afraid to die! I'm going to fight you to the end, haha, didn't expect that, did you? I opened the armory in this courtyard because I knew you wouldn't let this piece of fat go to waste, and you'd come sooner or later! See? I've strapped a bunch of bombs to myself, just waiting for you to come and take me down with you!"
Yu Zhongjian listened indifferently, exhaling a puff of smoke: "Just say what you want, stop with the nonsense."
I want you dead!
“I’m standing right in front of you, come on.” Yu Zhongjian’s words were startling. “If you had taken the hostage and left just now, my sniper would have shot you in the back immediately, but you didn’t leave; if you had hit me just now, you would have been killed the next second, but you deliberately missed. You said you watched us come in today. There are plenty of weapons and ammunition here. You’ve been hiding for so long and had every opportunity to attack us, but you didn’t. This shows that your demand is not to escape or to kill me. What is it then? Tell me.”
"I don't want to listen to your fucking nonsense. I don't want anything, I just want you dead!"
I could clearly feel the person behind me tense up, looking me up, down, left, and right. To the left of the office building was a carport, to the right was another office building, and across the street in front of the courtyard was a folding parking lot. Where could that seemingly professional sniper be hiding?
He kept strangling me until I was like a dead fish. Aside from my hands, which could barely grip his arms, I had no strength left in my body. I thought to myself, "Why bother talking to him when there's a sniper around? I'm not afraid of getting splattered with blood and brains, and I won't get post-traumatic stress disorder. Just shoot this madman!"
Yu Zhongjian added, "I gave you a chance and you didn't take it, so forget it. Why don't you try shooting me?"
"You...you said you'd let me go, but aren't you afraid I'll come back and take revenge?"
"I'm always waiting for you."
The man behind him was furious: "What the hell are you pretending for? I'll blow this woman's head to smithereens right now!"
"If either of us is injured or killed, your head will be smashed to pieces immediately. Think it through, your bombs won't hit my sniper."
The man behind him was panting heavily, his mind clearly in turmoil. "Fine, you've got it. You've pushed me to this point. My life is more precious than yours. I won't let you and this bitch die with me! I... I'm going to trade this woman for someone else! When the person arrives, get the car ready, fill it up with gas, and let us leave Huaicheng. Once we're on the highway, I'll give this woman back to you."
"Who should we replace?"
“Mali”.
Huh? Who? I thought I misheard. Shouldn't this vicious, ruthless, and utterly wicked man have traded me for some trusted cousin or something, to stage a grand show of "The Dragon Crossing the River" and recruit soldiers, hoping to one day return to Huaicheng to avenge himself? Why did he trade me for Ma Li?
"I know she was taken away by your men. Hand her over to me!"
Upon hearing the name, Yu Zhongjian seemed somewhat surprised and remained silent for a while until the person behind him shouted again, "Ten minutes! I'm only giving you ten minutes. If the person doesn't come, don't blame me for taking someone down with me."
"Ten minutes is enough. I'll send someone back to pick you up." Yu Zhongjian turned around and whistled. Another figure came running from the northwest, seemingly Zhang Yanhuang. He stopped beside him for a moment, whispered something, and then went to open the bread and head out the door.
I struggled against the thick, iron-like arm, my voice hoarse and broken as I cried out, "No...no!"
No one paid any attention to me. Yu Zhongjian continued to smoke in silence. The man behind him kept talking, as if trying to relieve the tension: "I have nothing to lose. Don't try to play tricks on me. Tell your men to behave themselves, or we'll all die together." He repeated this over and over several times.
Time ticked by, and in those ten minutes I thought of dozens of ways to counter him, but none of them were 100% certain. This man was simply too strong; I was constantly in a state of semi-oxygen deprivation, willing but unable to do anything. So I thought of waiting for Ma Li to arrive, then using the tactic of femme fatale to sow discord, hoping that when his mind wavered, I might have an opportunity.
Lost in thought, he lost track of whether ten minutes had passed. The man behind him grew increasingly agitated. Having finished his threats and harsh words, he began to expose Yu Yu's past: "You bastard, you have no conscience! I've treated you well. Back when the police were after you everywhere, you hid in my hometown for a month. I fed you, gave you drinks, made you a fake identity, and bought you a train ticket. When you fled back to seek a partnership with me, I cleaned up your mess without a word. That day, you saw me with your own eyes and still managed to shoot me! You mad dog, you rotten-lung bastard! I was fucking blind! If it weren't for the fact that you took the blame for me a few times, do you think I would have let you off so easily? I won't let you off the hook until you've killed me!"
He seemed to be filled with grievances, growing more and more agitated as he spoke, a strong, resentful tone emanating from him. I thought to myself, "So agitated, huh? Might as well just do it now." I stomped on his foot with all my might, then rammed his nose, simultaneously shoving away his gun-wielding hand, and then turned around and kneed him in the groin. That should stop him from self-destructing, right?
I mentally rehearsed the steps several times, while the cursing behind me continued unabated. Yu Zhongjian remained silent, and there was no movement at the door. I took a deep breath with difficulty and quietly lifted my right foot.
Just as I was about to make my move, a crackling sound suddenly came from my waist, followed by a jarring voice: "Hollow hole, hollow hole, play until you're completely dark, play until you're completely dark, that room, over!"
The person behind him stopped talking abruptly.
To be honest, I didn't hear what was being said at all. I just relied on a Sherlock Holmes-like intuition, a higher life instinct, and a chivalrous instinct, and did my best to lower my head and chin.
"Bang!"
The gunshots were distant, my neck felt hot, and my legs felt weak. I had overestimated myself. When the arm that was holding me slumped down, I collapsed in the same direction as him, only to find that I couldn't muster any strength at all and just collapsed onto that person.
Luckily, I didn't have time to do anything, otherwise, if I had just tickled him, I probably would have gotten another smack on the head.
Yu Zhongjian walked over and held out a hand to me: "Are you alright?"
I raised my arm, which was trembling violently: "I have no strength, I can't move, and I feel like throwing up." My neck hurt as if it were broken, and my voice was hoarse.
"It's from lack of oxygen," he said, grabbing my hand but not pulling it. Instead, he bent down and scooped my arms up to my waist and legs, lifting me up with a swift motion. "Just go back and rest for a bit."
I:? !
It was the first time in my life I had been carried in a princess carry, and I felt extremely uncomfortable. The places where his arm touched me felt indescribably painful.
"I...I can walk by myself."
"You're injured."
"I weigh over 120 pounds."
"It doesn't matter."
He wouldn't let me go, and I was too weak to break free. I could only turn my head away and stagger, already exhausted but still trying to stay upright, stiff as a piece of wood.
The teammates who had been hiding in various corners all rushed out at this moment. Li Tonggu led a newcomer, Wang Lianshan supported Guo Yang, and Zhang Yanhuang, who had clearly gone out, were all looking at each other, some looking at the corpses, others looking at the corpses, all exclaiming that they were still scared.
Guo Yang covered his head and sobbed, "Sister Qi, Captain Qi, Dean Qi, I wanted to protect you, but I was knocked unconscious."
Zhang Yanhuang exclaimed excitedly, "Look! Our company commander is an expert marksman! Even in such dim lighting, he can hit a vital point with a single shot. He truly deserves to be the all-around champion of the competition. He's my idol!"
That's when I realized Gao Chen wasn't there. I looked at Yu Zhongjian's chin in surprise and asked, "Was it Company Commander Gao who fired the shot?"
“Hmm,” Yu Zhongjian said, carrying me towards the parking lot, “We made the right choice in saving this person; he’s an excellent sniper.”
