Tang Baozhu carried her basket and headed up the mountain. She hadn't forgotten her plan from yesterday to take a stroll in the mountains.
I had only been walking up the mountain for less than half an hour when I saw Jin Meng coming out of the deep mountains. Seeing the way his eyes lit up instantly, I felt a little embarrassed.
"Hello, Comrade Jin. You've come down from the mountain so quickly!"
“Tang Zhiqing, why did you go up the mountain alone? If you’re alone, don’t go too deep into the mountains. It’s too dangerous there. I went up the mountain last night, which is why I came down so early today. Why don’t I go with you? I’m worried about you going up the mountain alone.”
"No need, Comrade Jin, you should go back now. I'm not going into the deep mountains. I'll just pick some mountain produce around here. Since you're carrying game, you should take it back quickly. I'll be going now. Goodbye."
Jin Meng felt he had a lot to say, but before he could get a chance to speak, he saw the little girl had already walked away. He could only regretfully carry his prey down the mountain.

Tang Baozhu wandered around the mountain alone for almost a week, always waiting for the other educated youth at the settlement to set off before going up the mountain by herself.
She had made quite a few gains during this period. At the very least, the mountain of prey in her space gave her a great sense of accomplishment. She hadn't expected that wood-type abilities would be so useful for hunting in the mountains.
Early that morning, there were sounds of talking in the courtyard, and then you could hear them chattering away. Tang Baozhu was sleeping in bed, wondering why everyone hadn't gone up the mountain yet, so she got up from the kang (a heated brick bed) out of curiosity.
Because she was wearing a fire crystal, she didn't feel how cold it was outside. She was just pleasantly surprised to see a vast expanse of white outside when she opened the door.
Realizing that she was still wearing a padded jacket, which might seem strange to others, she quickly went back to put on a cotton-padded jacket.
In the original owner's memory, she had rarely seen such heavy snow. Tang Baozhu felt that it was no different from the snow she had seen before, except that the snow here was heavier and colder.
"Baozhu, did we wake you up? This is such a wonderful surprise! We're building a snowman! Do you want to come and play with us?"
Watching Xu Man and Liu Lili having so much fun, their hands and faces were red from the cold, but they didn't seem to feel the cold at all. Meanwhile, the men were building a snowman on the other side.
"I'm not playing anymore, it's too cold. You guys play, I'll just watch you play."
Tang Baozhu felt that although she looked very young now, she had passed the age of being playful and mischievous, and no longer had that lively energy.
But that doesn't stop him from watching others play. He finds it quite amusing to see others laughing so happily while playing in the snow.
"Feifei, how long does this kind of heavy snow usually last? It takes until that big lake outside freezes over. I'm really curious about patrolling now, and I really want to go and see it right away."
When Xu Feifei heard Tang Baozhu's words, she felt speechless. Others would love to avoid patrolling, but unexpectedly, there was a weirdo here who actually wanted to patrol. Didn't he know that patrolling was very hard work?
"If Baozhu is so interested, we'll arrange for you to be in the first batch of patrols. Anyway, we'll figure out the patrol order for the people in our educated youth compound ourselves. I'm just afraid you'll regret it when you go."
"I'll be the first one there. Don't worry, I won't regret it. I'm just so curious. I heard they'll light a fire at night and we can warm ourselves around it. It sounds so interesting."
This reminded her of a hunting trip she took in her past life, with bonfires lit at night, singing and dancing – it felt like something from decades ago.
Xu Feifei didn't stop Baozhu from being so enthusiastic. No matter how much others say, it doesn't matter if you haven't seen it with your own eyes. Only after she suffers will she know how hard it is to guard over there.
The newly arrived educated youth were also very interested when they heard Baozhu's words. There was nothing they could do; they were all people who had never experienced anything like this before. Even if Xu Feifei said it was very hard, they couldn't feel it because they hadn't experienced it themselves and therefore couldn't empathize.
Tang Baozhu's biggest wish was to drill a hole in the ice and then fish. Fish don't have oxygen under the ice, so if there's a hole, they should float to the surface quickly. It wasn't for eating the fish, she just wanted to experience the fun of fishing.
"As long as Baozhu doesn't give up halfway, that's fine. You just got up and haven't washed up yet, have you? Go wash up quickly."
Tang Baozhu then realized that she hadn't brushed her teeth, washed her face, or eaten breakfast, and she didn't know if there was anything dirty on her face. It was really embarrassing to chat with everyone with an unwashed face like that.
"Okay, okay, I'll go wash up now and chat with you guys after breakfast."
Awkward, absolutely incredibly awkward.
I poured some hot water into the pot, and seeing that the water was about to boil, I added some cold water to wash up.
The weather is getting colder and colder now, and the kang (heated brick bed) has been heated for a long time. If the kang is kept heated, there will be a lot of hot water in the pot. Tang Baozhu boils at least three large pots of water a day and puts them into the warehouse. The water is all clean water and can be drunk in the future.
If it snows that heavily outside, I imagine if you filled a basin with water, it would freeze very quickly, right?
I really want to stock up on some ice, just in case I need it someday. At least I'll have ice when I want to eat shaved ice in the summer. My storage ring has quite a lot of space, so I feel like I'd be doing myself a disservice if I didn't stock up on some ice.
After thinking it through, she decided to find a good place to take out the water container without being discovered, and slowly accumulate ice.
There was so much hot water in the pot, but it hadn't boiled yet, so I just let it simmer. I took out two steamed buns from my spatial storage and brought out a large bowl of bone broth. The bones in the broth were from spirit beasts, and I would drink a bowl of it every day to keep myself looking healthy and radiant.
After eating and drinking to their hearts' content, Tang Baozhu watched as the snow fell heavier and heavier outside. Everyone in the courtyard had already gone back inside. Tang Baozhu didn't plan to go out either. She simply closed the door, thinking it would be more comfortable to stay in bed.
She took out the deerskin, intending to make herself a pair of boots, and stuff them with some rabbit fur, which would surely be warmer.
I feel like the embroidery I learned in my past life wasn't wasted. At least when I'm making clothes and shoes, it goes very smoothly, and I don't have to worry about not being able to do it.
There are actually some old boots in the warehouse, but they are too exquisite, some even decorated with pearls and gemstones, so they are simply unwearable and we can only make two new pairs.
The snow kept falling heavier and heavier, and it finally subsided after about five days. The snow piled up really high at the door. Luckily, I went out to shovel snow at night and during the day, otherwise I definitely wouldn't have been able to get out.
