Chapter 169 The Life of a Primitive Cannon Fodder (28)

Qing played in the sea for a while until the heat on her body dissipated, and then she came out of the sea.

"Yong, I'm a little hungry. What should we eat? How about we pick up a thin stone slab and grill the seafood on it?"

As always, there was plenty of seafood at the beach, and in this unpolluted sea, the seafood must have tasted even better.

Upon hearing that Qing wanted to eat grilled seafood, he nodded in agreement without hesitation and then went to find a larger stone slab nearby.

Qing Kanyong went to find the stone slab, and instead of being idle, he took out a large bamboo basin and went to the seaside to find the seafood he wanted to eat.

There are many crabs hiding under the rocks by the sea, some big and some small, and eating one of the big ones is especially satisfying.

Qing was searching for seafood on the beach, getting more and more excited as she searched. She found an abundance of crabs, each the size of a fist. She kept a few to eat later and put the rest into her small space.

I'm going to ask the robot to help me clean it up. I'm not planning to keep any animals anyway, since there's no seawater in the space and I can't keep them anyway.

Just have the robot organize it and put it into the space's warehouse.

Scallops, oysters, and squid—the first two are plentiful, but the last one is a matter of luck. If you're lucky, you might find a pretty big squid.

The most abundant vegetation is algae such as kelp, especially those pushed ashore by the waves, which is why there is a lot of it on the rocks along the shore.

Even though there are already many things in the space, Qing doesn't mind having too many things. It's not a tiring job; it's just a matter of touching it with her hand to put it into the space.

Yong quickly gathered the stone slabs, firewood, and other materials, and even found a few large stones to make a simple stove. Once the seafood was all ready, they could start grilling immediately.

Qing took the seafood in the bamboo basin to Yong and told him to grill it first, while she continued to go to the beach to find fresh seafood.

She thought she had just seen some sea cucumbers, probably brought there by the waves. They're so nutritious, she couldn't miss them.

Occasionally, you can also see things like eels and oysters, and given her ruthless nature, she certainly wouldn't let any of them go.

"Qing, let's pick them up later, let's eat first."

Yong grilled the squid on a stone slab and then added a lot of seasonings and fruit juice.

As for the crabs, they were simply placed in a ceramic pot and boiled. It seems that crabs cannot be grilled, so boiling them like this makes them more flavorful.

Qing was starving and had been craving fresh seafood. She didn't even want to eat the cooked food in her space. Now that she knew she could eat, she didn't want to pick up any more seafood.

I rushed over from the beach, only to find that the ceramic pot contained more than just crabs; it was practically a huge stew.

It smells delicious, but I don't know how it tastes. I suppose Yong's cooking skills are so good that I won't be disappointed.

He took out the bowl and chopsticks he carried with him and started eating without saying a word.

After tasting it, my expectations were definitely not in vain.

"Yong, the food you cook is getting better and better, it's so delicious, you should eat some too."

Yong was happy to see his partner enjoying the food so much, and kept piling seafood into Qing's bowl. Before he knew it, the bowl was piled high with seafood.

Qing looked at the bowl, which was almost full. If she took any more food, she definitely wouldn't be able to finish it.

He quickly told Yong to stop putting more food on his plate, "Yong, that's enough. You should eat more. If you keep putting more on my plate, I won't be able to finish it either."

Yong glanced into Qing's bowl and, without noticing, found it piled high with food.

"Okay, I'll eat too, you go ahead and eat."

The two of them didn't talk much after that, focusing on eating the delicious food in front of them.

As expected of pollution-free seafood, it only needs some seasonings to remove the fishy smell and a little salt to make it taste especially delicious.

After the meal, there was no need for Qing to clean up the dishes; Yong took care of it himself in no time.

"Qing, I'm going to collect salt blocks. If you want to play around here, don't stray too far from my sight. If there's any danger, I can get there in time."

After eating and drinking his fill, Yong was ready to start working, but he was worried about Qing, so he could only give her more and more instructions.

"Okay, you go find some salt blocks on the shore, and while you're at it, boil them in a pot and filter them clean. I'll look for seafood in the sea not far from you."

Seeing that Qing was obedient, Yong took the bamboo basin and went to collect salt blocks.

Seeing Yong busy, Qing didn't waste any time and immediately prepared to go into the sea to find seafood.

I must say, playing in the sea is quite fun. If I weren't a bad swimmer, I would love to venture into deeper waters.

I imagine there must be some delicious seafood in the deep sea, but unfortunately I found a lot of seafood in the shallow waters early this morning. As for the deep sea, I can't be too greedy.

Qing never stays in the sea for too long, worried that her body can't handle it. Even though the weather is quite hot now, soaking in the water for too long is not good for your health.

On a makeshift stove erected on the shore, there was a clay jar on it, with a fire burning underneath.

The water in the jar is brine that has been filtered again. If you keep boiling it until all the water is gone, the remaining salt will be pure white salt.

Qing watched as Yong kept busy, getting further and further away from the stove. Qing had no choice but to stay by the fire inside the stove.

When Yong saw Qing guarding the stove, he breathed a sigh of relief, no longer worried that she might be in danger while she was at sea.

This way, when he's looking for salt blocks, he doesn't have to be distracted by constantly staring at the sea surface.

The two of them worked hard all afternoon, and after filtering, they got about a small bowl of salt.

There are also some that aren't filtered, which I feel is too inefficient.

The two discussed it and decided to set up more stoves tomorrow so they could filter the food more effectively.

Anyway, there's no shortage of firewood. It's everywhere in the forest. Along the way from the tribe to the seaside, we didn't waste any of the large pieces of firewood we came across. We collected them all, and finally, they had a use.

When I went to sleep at night, I built a small tent next to it using animal hides.

Qing made this herself. Luckily, she had studied embroidery before, so she sewed it quite well.

Falling asleep to the sound of the waves at night brings a special peace of mind, resulting in a very good night's sleep. I wake up feeling refreshed the next day.

After breakfast, I started setting up a few more stoves. Yesterday's efficiency was really low, so I need to improve it today.

Since we've already decided to spend the entire summer at the beach, we can't waste any time; if we're going to do it, we should do it to the best of our ability.
